NOW CLOSED

Evenings can sometimes feel like they’re over before they’ve even begun. With this in mind, Sky Store would like to hear your tips for making your evenings easy - so that you still have the time to sit down as a family and enjoy a good movie night in together.

Here’s what Sky Store has to say: “This week we are celebrating the release of the most anticipated animated sequel of all time – Disney/Pixar’s Incredibles 2 in Sky Store, so you can create your perfect movie night in with your family tonight.

With Sky Store evenings are incredibly easy! You can download this family favourite straight to your TV at the touch of a button, so it’s ready to watch as soon as the kids get home.”

What tips do you have for an easy evening? Maybe you meal prep so you spend less time on cooking? Do you have tips for getting your children ready for bed in record time? Have you discovered the secret to making the kids tidy up after themselves? Perhaps you watch new films at home instead of taking a trip to the cinema?

All who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Homework as soon as my eldest is in from school, tea and then bathed then the rest of the evening is his. Then be super quick to bed at eight, then we have time for a bedtime story, and half an hour tv before bed. Since i have started this routine bedtime is a dream!

Cook in batches and then put in freezer makes things quick and easy .

grantd1 · 10/11/2018 12:43

Be organised.

I batch cook at weekends and load the freezer up so dinner is quick and easy. It’s made evenings much less stressful.

mrpeterhall · 10/11/2018 12:53

Slow cooker meal, no IT, phones off..........and a bottle of wine.

gd2011 · 10/11/2018 13:14

Easy meal prep - slow cooker or air fryer.

maryandbuzz1 · 10/11/2018 13:29

If we are planning a movie night I try to enlist everyone’s help and sometimes have a takeaway or a simple meal where we can all muck in. It is such a treat that getting my son ready for bed has never been an issue but giving a warning that bedtime is in 5/10 minutes always means he’s prepared for the eventuality.

pandoraskids · 10/11/2018 13:40

Definitely a slow cooker

Do an easy straight in the oven type of meal such as pizza or turkey dinosaurs and chips

lizd31 · 10/11/2018 13:47

Quick & easy homemade panini pizzas, saves a fortune on a takeaway & even tastier

I'm lucky I have my parents, they look after the kids until I finish work and then my mum cooks us dinner. I finish work drive to their house, eat food and then go home for bath and bed. They even give me a doggy bag for my husband. It leaves us with plenty of time to get home and bath, without having to rush. I think the best tip is to allow plenty of time as when you rush it usually results in taking longer.

Routine... We eat our dinner then either watch a little tv together or play a game... Then the same wind down every evening finishing with a bath and finally a story in bed... :)

NicHay · 10/11/2018 14:59

Routine - dinner then some chores before we sit down together. Leave bigger chores for the weekend

Minnibix · 10/11/2018 15:03

I try to keep meal prep to a minimum but also we don't put the telly on until we are ready to settle down to watch it as it can easily eat up your time

03kelwil · 10/11/2018 15:12

Slow cooker on, bath and pjs early then evening of a movie and some goodies.

cathwarbur · 10/11/2018 15:16

Family time together watching a lovely film or eating a lovely meal together at home makes a most relaxing evening for us

Nikita90 · 10/11/2018 15:36

We plan all of our meals for the week and stick to them!

janeyf1 · 10/11/2018 16:13

Sometimes it is great just to have easy dinners such as tasty toasties, feet up and watch light tv

LauraMMM · 10/11/2018 16:15

We tend to watch films at home rather than the cinema mainly because it is quite expensive nowadays. If we plan a cozy night in with a movie we nip to the shops and the kids gets to choose a treat, usually a sweetie. We grab pizzas for an easy dinner and the kids love a pizza night as a treat. We get home we all race to wash our face and put pjs on so it is nice and quick and makes the kids laugh. We get our duvets and snuggle up with our pizzas, treats and juice. Perfect family night in.

mollymoo818 · 10/11/2018 16:19

I love batch cooking and freezing to ensure that I can always have a quick healthy meal ready in no time at all and it makes everything so much easier and gives me much more time in the evenings to just enjoy them.

becky004 · 10/11/2018 16:31

I cook in batches and freeze so I can just pull a meal out in the morning and reheat at tea time. Homework gets done while meal is warming. After food it's quick showers, then we curl up on the sofa to watch a good film.

Pastychef · 10/11/2018 16:56

We plan meals, (limited) TV and nights out for the next week, that gives us structure and things to look forward to.

giddyypixie · 10/11/2018 17:18

For winter, definitely a slow cooker! Dinner is ready when you walk in after a long day. Sit down and eat as a family then have an hour watching TV together on the sofa. Then everyone goes off to do their own thing!

IonaAilidh11 · 10/11/2018 17:27

batch cook for the week saves endless arguments

JoJoY · 10/11/2018 17:52

I recently got an Instant Pot pressure cooker and it's amazing, a beautiful beef stew takes less than 30 minutes with minimal prep.
