NOW CLOSED

Evenings can sometimes feel like they’re over before they’ve even begun. With this in mind, Sky Store would like to hear your tips for making your evenings easy - so that you still have the time to sit down as a family and enjoy a good movie night in together.

Here’s what Sky Store has to say: “This week we are celebrating the release of the most anticipated animated sequel of all time – Disney/Pixar’s Incredibles 2 in Sky Store, so you can create your perfect movie night in with your family tonight.

With Sky Store evenings are incredibly easy! You can download this family favourite straight to your TV at the touch of a button, so it’s ready to watch as soon as the kids get home.”

What tips do you have for an easy evening? Maybe you meal prep so you spend less time on cooking? Do you have tips for getting your children ready for bed in record time? Have you discovered the secret to making the kids tidy up after themselves? Perhaps you watch new films at home instead of taking a trip to the cinema?

All who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

devito92 · 10/11/2018 08:50

try to replicate the cinema experience at home, get snacks in and let them choose the film sometimes .

npret · 10/11/2018 08:51

An easy evening is a pizza in the oven and the kids snuggled on the couch watching a movie.

veegstez · 10/11/2018 08:56

I find that planning in advance is key. We plan our meals for the week and batch cook a lot too.

goose1964 · 10/11/2018 09:17

most of our evening meals are either quick cook like pasta or bung in the oven ^ forget about them, ie jacket spuds

Don't over fill after school time with endless activities that just make everyone feel stressed and tired. Routine and organisation saves time arguing if everyone knows what are the rules and what to expect. I plan meals on a two week menu and cook double quantities so I can always freeze a spare meal. I use timers with younger children for tv/screen time etc and for homework. I always make time for cuddles and stories for the little ones and after getting ready for bed we lay out everything needed for the next day at school.

A nice home made meal and the family together to eat and catch up . then we'll watch a movie on netflix or prime.

debskeay · 10/11/2018 09:34

Ooh i have the tea prepared and all my jobs done before we eat. then its relax and watch a bit of telly.

Helsbells68 · 10/11/2018 09:34

Do chores early in the morning before everyone gets up, any that have to be done in the evening divide and conquer, more hands make light work.

RACHELSMITH45 · 10/11/2018 09:38

I get baths done asap sometimes before tea.. tea is 530 and then my daughter sometimes has clubs on.. get my youngest to bed by 730 and everything prepared in terms of pjs, toothbrush for oldest to have quick turnaround once bk.. generally 8pm is adults only! It's important to have that time too.

VickyW1975 · 10/11/2018 09:41

We have a menu planner for the week so I know exactly what we are eating that night. We then have a star chart so if we do good helping, tidying and getting ready for bed then the stars mount up and at 10 then they can get a little prize! Works a treat

hdh747 · 10/11/2018 09:41

Slow cooker and a nice relaxed routine later on in the day.

littleme96 · 10/11/2018 09:53

We meal plan in advance and on an easy night we'll have something like pizza and garlic bread. The kids empty and re-load the dishwasher while it cooks and then we sit down to the latest film together knowing that the majority of the cleaning up has been done.

bertie1984 · 10/11/2018 10:11

Slow cooker meals that dont cause arguments! Food that everybody loves! Routine is a must so dinner, bath, family time and then bed x

Gazelda · 10/11/2018 10:17

Meal planning and slow cooker.
I have a list of chores for everyone to do each day - we do them as soon as we get on so they can be forgotten about.
Not too many after school clubs.
We generally have a quick to prepare dinner on fri that we can eat on laps in front if telly.

vonniebab2 · 10/11/2018 10:23

I batch cook food on a Sunday and freeze so it makes meals easier through the week. Just heat and serve.

footdust · 10/11/2018 10:41

Slow cooker for me - love a one pot meal. It saves on the cooking and the cleaning and washing up too!

amyhalliday1 · 10/11/2018 10:49

prwilson · 10/11/2018 11:14

I find a nice hot shower makes the rest of the evening much easier and more relaxed.

Elizasmum02 · 10/11/2018 11:14
