This activity is now closed

After years of probably having to watch all sorts of wonderful and occasional strange children’s TV shows, it’s hard to not ending up having favourites...whether you love them in secret or not.]] would like to know which children’s shows you are more than happy to watch with your DC and why they’ve become your favourite.

Here’s what ]] have to say: “Now it’s the summer holidays, more and more families are streaming children’s shows such as Shaun The Sheep, My Little Pony, The Penguins of Madagascar and Just Add Magic. It’s great when you find a show that you can enjoy that works for both child and parent, and we would love to know what these shows are for you and your family.”

Has Dora the Explorer been an all-time favourite of yours for years because you end up learning things too? Perhaps you love trying to figure out who the baddy is in Scooby-Doo along with your DC? Maybe seeing Tom & Jerry on the screen always brings back some great nostalgic memories of when you were a child? Or do you love Postman Pat purely for the great theme tune?

Whatever your favourite children’s programme is, share them on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw to win 1 of 3 Amazon Fire Kids Edition Tablets, made just for kids.

Thanks and good luck

I’m quite open about my love for ‘Tumble Leaf’ and ‘Sarah & Duck’. Also partial to a bit of ‘Hey Duggee’ and ‘Clangers’. Oh, ‘The Magic School Bus’ too!

I've enjoyed watching The Voice Kids with DD1 (7).
I quite like Ben and Holly, but they don't watch it that much these days.

If I don't like something on tv, there's not much chance I'll let my kids watch it - they're still small so this is just about possible still! Hey duggee we all love, and Charlie and Lola. Don't really watch kids tv channels. I'll just pick something and put it on. It's mostly films we'll watch though, they tend to like the same thing over and over. Ponyo and totoro are favourites. Then a few Disney, especially Mary poppins at the moment. The original which I remember watching when I was younger. They love the songs!

I love quite a few of their programmes, though there's nothing secret about it! The programmes for children are generally so good these days. The main ones I enjoy are programmes like The Dengineers and Blue Peter or My Life. I also enjoy CBeebies Book at Bedtime, though mostly for the joy of hearing people like Tom Hardy or David Walliams reading!

Dora the explorer! Please bring more seasons into Prime! Mainly because my
2yr old seems to have picked up Spanish from it without any prompting. I asked him to count his blocks the other day and he did it in Spanish!
I also love Tumbleleaf - the animation is amazing and the characters really cute.
Sarah and Duck lastly, such lovely little stories

Also enjoy Postman Pat and Thomas the Tank Engine. They remind me of my childhood and nice to relive it with a child of my own!

It's very hard not to enjoy the same programmes as your kids because half of what they watch are what you were watching a few years before! I loved when my daughter got into Scooby Doo and SpongeBob Square Pants because I still enjoyed watching them.

When she was a baby i'd happily watch Something Special on my own, Mr Tumble makes me feel better!

We're quite retro, we've shared with her all the kids tv we watched when we were little so she does stick on Tin Tin, Jem, Thundercats, Full House, Art Attack, Fun House etc and I bloody love being able to share that with her, the other way around!

At the moment I love watching Blue Peter with her... actually even Daddy watches that too! And I love watching DC Super hero Girls with her- the movies and the webisodes!! I was a big superhero fan as a kid and we didn't have anything like that for girls so i'm totally make up for lost time!! Get your cape on!!

My top two are:

  • Thunderbirds on Prime - great stories that actually have a plot, advanced but still faithful animation too.
  • Danger Mouse on BBC - hysterical - really cleverly done.

I have a few I don't mind, Sarah and Duck is good, I can handle Mr Men. Doc Mcstuffins has been a life saver when in and out of hospital. And twirlywoos is good

Report
Changingagain · 10/08/2018 15:03

Ben and Holly makes me chuckle and Twirlywoos is kind of sweet. I can't wait for him to get into watching the Disney film though. I keep trying but ten minutes in and he'll ask for Paw Patrol or Andy again.

Odd Squad. My son loves it and (secretly) I do to. It's fun, sassy, very clever, the kids are fantastic and it drops in a bit of maths on the way. Odd Squad all the way!
