Oh wow that gives me a bit of hope sounds like you had someone nice on the other end. I got a ‘there’s no point ringing before 25 weeks, your claim won’t be looked at till August, it’s not even with a decision maker yet’. My cousin applied last year and it only took 6 weeks! x

Does anyone know how to complain about a dla decision. We got declined dla on 29/05 and I’ve just received my statement of reasons in the post and I am absolutely seething it states “his refusal to walk is because he does not want to walk rather than he cannot” Do they people not deal with children with additional needs!!! Xx

I’ve just called to make a complaint apparently a senior manager is going to call me back. So many lies put in my statement of reasons for refusal “his refusal to walk is because he does not want to walk rather than he cannot” also “simple aids can be used to reduce the need for his nighttime attention” xx

Holz691 · 04/06/2025 16:05

I feel for you my child was declined at renewal and the statement of reasons says 'she wears headphones whilst walking because she dislikes noise'

I don't think they even read the form as it clearly states she has ear defenders whilst in lessons at school.

TashaxJ · 04/06/2025 16:15

@CraftyJo no currently at the mandatory reconsideration stage as this was a new claim xx

TashaxJ · 04/06/2025 16:17

@MrsB113 I wonder if we had the same dm xx

More than likely. I was so angry when I opened that letter. Another of the reasons was no ehcp and my child is very intelligent.
My response was I didn't realise you had to have a low IQ to have disabilities.

s39 · 04/06/2025 16:27

Lines are down for “system update” was told to call back tomorrow! @ 4.20pm

s39 · 04/06/2025 16:28

Let’s hope the “update” they doing is updating more awards 🤣

I’m exactly the same I’m trying to avoid tribunal at all costs hence why I’m finding everything and anything to send it now! I’ll update you if I hear anything because if mine is being looked at yours definitely will be soon they asked me if I wanted them to call me before they make a decision also send a text I told them 100% will ease my anxiety maybe ask for the same x

Ohhhhh sounds like you had someone really nice! Makes you feel at ease. Yes I’ll look out for your post! Good luck 🤞🏽

@TashaxJ I am so sorry to hear this I cannot believe the reason ur claim was denied , I hope when a senior rings u & u explain they look at the claim again it’s absolutely shocking the reason I am gobsmacked beyond belief x

I’m SD 06/02 I got awarded last week so u can’t be too long x

TashaxJ · 04/06/2025 17:05

@MrsB113 that was also another reason in his that no EHCP, IEP or IBP was in place also no diagnosis. When we are having a meeting with his school next month about an IBP which I stated in my claim, also he doesn’t have a diagnosis as he’s on the waiting list 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ xx

I’m SD 17/2
rang Monday and they said it’s waiting to be assigned to a decision maker,
rang today as saw quite a lot of end Feb dates being awarded plus 1 3rd March awarded so thought I’d ring, she said a decision was made 3/6 (my sons birthday)
can change so quickly - got everything crossed for u, the anxiety and the wait it horrendous and it gets u questioning if u have sent in enough evidence etc it’s horrible

Deffo kus my son ain’t been diagnosed he’s on waiting list and has been for 2 years, it’s absolutely disgusting I hope it gets overturned as it is a wrong decision completely. X

@Kirstylou91 thank you I will keep you updated when I get a call back. I won’t let this drop!! Stating my son’s refusal to walk is because he does not want to walk rather than he cannot really got under my skin. Maybe my dm should educate theirselves on children with additional needs xx

Its absolutely ridiculous isnt it. We didn't have a diagnosis on original claim and were still awarded. Now have 3 different diagnosis , more evidence and a really supportive school.
My child's school are very good and have made many adaptions for her all of which would be included on an echp. I did remind dla that ehcp isn't a requirement to claim but it is infact based on the care needs.
