What does adding the carers element do ? Xxx

Gives u more money a month and turns off work commitments

Mummyof4children · 04/06/2025 13:17

Curlycookie5 · 04/06/2025 12:57

I claim carers allowance for this same reason

Don’t need to claim carers allowance for them to turn off work commitments

Thanks so much good luck to everyone xx

Don’t need to claim carers allowance for them to turn off work commitments

How would it work if both parents claim carers elements? Would they both have work commitments turned off? Because my partner is self employed and he’s down as caring for my other child and they have a minimum floor he has to earn each month as self employed

To be fair it makes no difference then because I get the same amount on uc with or without carers allowance

Sunnysamm · 04/06/2025 13:36

My daughter gets Dla and we have the Uc carers element which switched work commitments off. I don’t claim carers allowance.

Kirstylou91 · 04/06/2025 13:37

Thanks for all ur help ladies 💛 & gd luck to everyone still
waiting to be awarded 💛

I don’t think you can both claim it tbh

Ahhh I didn’t read that properly because it’s a different child maybe he can ring uc and ask them I think it might work as it’s not the same child

Does anyone know how to complain about a dla decision. We got declined dla on 29/05 and I’ve just received my statement of reasons in the post and I am absolutely seething it states “his refusal to walk is because he does not want to walk rather than he cannot” Do they people not deal with children with additional needs!!! Xx

Oh my gosh that’s so bad that they said that, makes me so mad that we as parents know our children yet DLA think they also know them on a personal level too 😡

TashaxJ · 04/06/2025 14:26

This lady clearly knows my son better than me 🤬🤬

Omg don't!! I'd be livid! Surely that can't be right! So they've basically based your whole claim on that one "statement"? What about all the other daily care needs you filled in on your forms! Surely they cant decline you for one thing that they "assume" I'd phone up and ask to speak to the decision maker that looked at your claim and ask them how can they decline your whole claim on 1 thing because I'm sure you didn't just apply because your little one refuses to walk, they cant just base it on that! There are several factors to a claim and just because they think something of 1 thing they've not actually thought about all the other things you've wrote!

TashaxJ · 04/06/2025 14:47

No it doesn’t just state this it’s a long list of reasons another being “simple aids can be used to reduce the need for his nighttime attention” xx

I’m sending any letters I find literally every other week! Sometimes I’m writing up things late at night having to explain certain things aswell incase they don’t read it properly the anxiety it’s giving I just don’t understand how it’s exceeded 25 weeks now and they expect people to keep calm? I really hope you get your award our children deserve it and it’s a shame these decision makers can’t actually see what we do on a daily I was saying to the lady on the phone earlier I was worried about being declined and if there was a way to send in videos of my child’s behaviour it would be a whole different perspective for them! x

Yes exactly. Even when I was writing all this up I was thinking what’s the chances of them actually reading it all but hey!

I really hope you get yours too!! I really don’t wanna go to tribunal I can’t bare the anxiety of that! Let’s hope and pray. Keep me updated. When you get yours I know mines is round the corner!

good luck we got this 🤍

NC 18.01
SD 18.02

hoping not too long now but I think they’ll need to contact the school for confirmation as not all needs diagnosed.
I was told August when I called 2 weeks ago…

I’m exactly the same I’m trying to avoid tribunal at all costs hence why I’m finding everything and anything to send it now! I’ll update you if I hear anything because if mine is being looked at yours definitely will be soon they asked me if I wanted them to call me before they make a decision also send a text I told them 100% will ease my anxiety maybe ask for the same x

Assuming you’ve been to tribunal if you’ve got a statement of reasons?
If that’s the case you’ll need to find an error of law to appeal it. It does get tricky so you might want to consider representation. Some panels are just bloody awful :(
