I get they should be taken one by one ideally but then waiting back for further info the DMs just sit there wasting time which is why I assume they take a bundle of them at a time.
Not ideal but they should just be clear about it, rather than set wait times they should explain it could take between 15-25 weeks whilst we wait for info etc but people are still going to ring, cause I’d focus on the 15 weeks still
and let’s face it it is the government that make the rules so the truth will never be given

sorry for the super long post…

I have a theory, might be completely wrong but just for those of you who are waiting a bit longer than others (stressful I know) but I think it might work like this:-

the files aren’t given out like a pack of cards one by one, they literally take say 10 off the top of the pile and so on. They might be 100 DM’s around the country so it’s 1000 they’re going through between them, DM number 1 gets the oldest dates and DM number 100 gets newer dates that are nearly 1000 claims in, they’re working through them at the same time so some earlier dates get done sooner and it’s just the luck of the draw of the system.
I'm assuming this is also why payments get backdated so it overall makes it fair in the end.
they're not gonna all be in the same office so it would be a waste of time to take just 1 at a time.
then once the DM has their pile of say 10 claims, they read through them all making notes ( I assume) and then contact health professionals/schools etc for more information where needed. They cannot make a decision until they get the info back so they will go through their 10 in order of all information received.
some claims, especially neurodiversity are not as clear as someone with a black and white complex health issue / terminal illness etc which will get quick decisions because it’s easy to see from hospital letters so again they will seem to be done before you but if the DMs held them back just because the date was too soon there would be even more of a backlog.
then once top of this, they will get children who have been told they are terminal who quite rightly get automatically put to the top of the pile, pushing all ours down further.

it may not be done like this but it’s the only way that’s making sense to me (my SD is March so got ages to wait but I have been through this with another child before so I do get how anxious it is as the weeks go on)

I don’t know how that would work my scan date 13/2 and has not been given to decision maker where there are people around my date and 20-24 been done. X

TashaxJ · 28/05/2025 19:48

I’m 20 weeks today so surely can’t be much longer xx

when was last time you called? I’d call everyday, then I would screen shot multiple claims done after your date and make a complaint xx

There not been honest though are they and just say what they want when people ring so it probs is with one in a pile, or got sent and if that DM has gone off sick the pile gets returned for someone else to pick up which puts you behind the ones that have already gone out but rather than tell you that your just left thinking it’s been missed/they’ve picked others first

TashaxJ · 28/05/2025 19:54

@Kelz23 I literally called them yesterday and she said it was with a decision maker I told her it’s been with a decision maker since 09/05 so is my decision maker waiting for further evidence from gp or school and she said no it’s just literally waiting for a decision. So frustrating xx

TashaxJ · 28/05/2025 19:58

@Kelz23 as time is going on it’s really getting to me seeing dates from end of Feb getting awarded and I’m still waiting for a decision from 08/01. I mean I’m happy for everyone getting their award but I just want to know mine now lol xx

I'm same date as you and still haven't heard anything, the thought that it could be another 10 weeks makes me twitchy lol

I wonder if its down to how much evidence you add with your claim form or form in general...
I kinda feel sorry for whoever gets my sons, as we could only just fit all supporting documents into the envelope with the claim form, I did tape all the edges and sent special delivery lol
