DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 63

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 22/01/2025 21:02

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Finally got the award letter today, daughter has been awarded until 2028, may start preparing for renewal now 🤣🤣

You can only get high rate mobility from aged 3 so it is only worth applying for if your child meets every check point on the VUW or SMI flowcharts.
Nothing happens if you don't send the forms back 🙂

Thank you for the reply, as I’m all new to this I didn’t know. He does apply for it but don’t have enough evidence as of yet. Can I reapply once I do? X

This is how I feel and I’m SD 16/09 I know I could of added a lot more I wish I was on this forum before I even sent the forms off

Demi you can always send a personal statement explaining in details how your child’s needs affect his daily life and if the decision is already made they could use as late evidence.

Keepitup88 · 26/01/2025 09:58

18 weeks tomorrow. Hoping to hear around 20 weeks, fingers crossed.
my previous experience with DLA / phones makes me think to take everything they say on the phone with a pinch of salt!
When I applied last year for my eldest I was told one week that it was with a DM, next week I was told it wasn’t with a DM - then literally 2 days later I had a text to say he had been awarded! I don’t think they always know what to say and maybe say anything to get you off the phone!
I’ve seen quite a few early - mid September dates awarded so I’m quietly hoping I hear around 20 weeks rather than the 25 they seem to be quoting a lot of people!

I’m positive I did put stuff in but I really could of added a lot more on he got referred for occupational therapy after we sent the forms off and we have an appointment in March and I didn’t put any of this on his forms I was gunna chance sending it tomorrow but thought it probably won’t be useful as it’s only an appointment letter anyway

😂 that's what this place is for, everyone loves a good waffle sometimes. Its the little things we see as normal and everyday that when you talk to others about it, you realise that it's not, even my mum looks at me as if to say you do that for how long, she's 9. Bedtime is on average an hour or more everyday, getting her out of bed is a challenge, eating food and even sitting on a chair probably is so time consuming.

My son is just 1000 miles an hour and has 2 little horns on his forehead from falls and face planting walls🤦🏼‍♀️ he constantly bumps into stuff, when he was in nursery they said he would fall off a log for no reason, and just walk into tables, chairs and posts. I still need to hold his hand going up and down stairs. He had his assessment and I didn't realise how bad it was until the doctor asked him to lie down and get up again and he fell every time, he has no spatial awareness. If he's not supervised when we're out he has so many falls, he had 3 buckle fractures in 3 months, he was out of the splint for a week then back in one, a week later he refractured the same wrist. He bumps so much now he doesn't tell anyone because he's so used to it, school get really panicky because he doesn't tell them even when it's head bumps 😫

I found all the paperwork yesterday of what I've sent in an I've surprised myself how much I had actually added in that I thought I hadn't! I'd just been overthinking and panicking I'd not added in enough. Going to send a little bit extra in this week but not masses and then I need to stop obsessing about it, sit back and wait another 10 weeks 😅Although they do seem to be moving a bit quicker now 🤞

One thing I thought of with the DCD for your son, has he had the Movement Assessment Battery For Children done yet as part of his assessment? If not ask nursery or his OT to do one and you can send that in as evidence. I've sent my daughters in with her application, think it's quite a useful bit of evidence before diagnosis 👍

Ash900 · 26/01/2025 14:11

I’ll be 20 weeks on Thursday. Got told 4 days ago it’s with a DM so really hoping I find out the outcome this week! Even if it’s bad news, I’d rather just find out now!

Stacey0909 · 26/01/2025 15:20

Anyone one waiting for mr had any news over the weekend?

He was referred to OT in October after his paediatrician assessment that report is quite in depth, started chasing the OT referral this week my hope is it won't be too long, but we'll see. I have a letter from the school, plus reports from hospital about his fractures

I didn't send anything wigh my daughters 1st application as the school failed to send my all of it, but sent massive amounts with the MR, its not until you see it that you realise how much you sent. On the award letter the actually stated how many times I had phoned and added more information 🫣😂

Sarahdestiny · 26/01/2025 17:52

Been waiting 6 months since I appealed to tribunal still no hearing Date and been well over 1 year since I renewed the claim and did a MR first the process is so long it's disheartening also 😢 hoping it's worth the wait and my son gets the right decision at court fingers 🤞 anyone else been waiting so long for a hearing date of anyone already been through there's and have had a good outcome 💙

Nope, not a thing. This week better be our week. Head is almost completely off stressing with it 🫠

NC SD 26/09 . Told myself it's gonna be a decline , Seeing you all sending tons of proof in has pretty much cemented it in my head. Won't bother with a MR as too much hassle and waiting about. Only sent in a letter my early help support worker wrote about my daughters high care needs! Wish I had sent in her physio appointment and stuff from the doctors regarding visits due to not sleeping and her joints . Rang the doctors Friday and on her notes it states hypermobility ! Funny my little sister has this and had to spend a week at a time in gosh hospital shen she was younger don't remember a time when she actually didn't have any plaster casts on legs and arms!!! . Wondering if its too late to send in stuff from doctors was told I was at the top of the pile last week so proberly no point now.

Hi, don’t read too much into things if you can. My eldest gets HRC , LRM… he has suspected ADHDand he does suffer anxiety but all I had was some referrals and a letter from school. I personally feel that a lot of the decision must be done on what you write and how you articulate your child’s needs. Both mine get HRC and I’ve seen people with worse conditions than my kids get a lower level of award.

It’s not too late to add to your evidence, send it in and they’ll add it to your claim

Mines 12/09. I have a constant pit in my stomach. All I want is a decision now and of course I want it to be a good outcome but right now all I want is an answer. Even if it’s a no, like obviously I’ll be disappointed but a very small part of me will also be relieved to finally get a decision and be able to crack on and start the long process of an MR! Xx

Jumbocoffeemorning · 27/01/2025 07:20

How do you add the disabled child bit to your UC claim? Do you a report a change and if so on which section? And how do you get the back pay for that element?

Daisy4877 · 27/01/2025 07:34

Hm that is intresting i wrote all i coils in regards to her needs how i have to set alarms as she doesnt sleep at night just to make sure shes not doing dangerous things i get about 4 hours sleep!! Just recently she decided to make noodles at 2am and left the gas stove on with the plastic next to it!! I think i will ring this morning and see if they can tell me where it is had a lovely lady last week and hope it's not been looked at already!! Where do I send the evidence and should I do recorded delivery do you think ?

Invinsibubblality · 27/01/2025 07:42

A new week of constantly checking the bank account and resisting the urge to call.
Thinking of everyone in the same boat

zoeybrooks45 · 27/01/2025 08:04

Morning, hopefully we hear some more positive news on the thread this weeks. I am not going to call this week as I’ve had enough of hearing the same thing. Currently 23 weeks tomorrow. Not been assigned on Friday.

if you are awarded post scan date. Currently new claims are well into September and some October claims. X

They said but can never be certain. Are you appealing a decision 1st time or was it declined? Apparently they are quicker if you don’t have an award in place already x
