DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 63

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 22/01/2025 21:02

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

I’m the day after. Hopefully we have only have less than 2 and a half weeks left of this agony. If they refused to change the rates, I might explode! I doubt they will but you never know do you 🫠

Haha I no after all this wait we need the right outcome I know how you feel it’s hard not to kick off on the phone haha.

hi! The scan date is the date they ‘scanned the form’ at their end .. effectively putting it onto their system. If you called for forms and filled them out by the date it said on the form you will be back paid to that date but regardless of this your scan date is still the date they scanned the forms in not the date you rang them, hope that makes sense x

Yes that makes sense so the 20-25 week starts from the date the forms are scanned onto the system I get it now thankyou x

Thank you, and yes sort of know now 😂 what I've found our since i started this whole DLA journey is that it is not always about diagnosis it's about how much extra care your child needs above thier peers, so as long as you've documented ie wrote all the evidence from you about her care needs, the rest is a bonus. As long as you have noted how much extra time you have to spend on her care and the constraints of mobility amd extra time becauseof the mobility issues you'll be fine. I phoned and told them that I'm not able to go out to do shopping and everything has to be done online because she will becomes overwhelmed and overstimulated in shops and can melt down for 45 minutes or more. Having to plan extra time to go places, encouragement to dress, how many time you get up in the night etc etc. From what you've wrote it sounds like you have a very good chance. Honestly, if you think of something you didn't put down, phone them and ask to note extra evidence 😊

Thank you, its definitely a learning curve isn't it. I'm going to send some extra evidence over by post and write a letter with anything I think I missed out from forms because when I phoned they wouldn't take the evidence over the phone verbally they just said they'd put a note in that more evidence was coming. The call handeller said, oh no you don't need to tell me what it is! I was only calling to add on a new medication but now I'll be sending that new prescription and loads more info by post next week 😅

I've already put in tons but it's things like I said in forms how long it takes to get her dressed because of how she will only wear certain colours, the seams have to be a certain way, no labels, clothing positioned in a certain way, all very time consuming, an shes not able to dress herself etc. But I completely forgot to say that she goes rigid when I dress her and doesn't move to help me at all, won't bend her arms legs etc and she's a dead weight. So its stuff like that I need to add on.

We had a long drawn out thing this evening about her drink of water not being the exact right temperature which took for ever to get right and then forever to calm the situation which had escalated way out of proportion. There's many 'little' things like that that I just didn't think to add in cos I didn't think they were relevant and its the norm for us, but it wouldn't be the norm for other families would it so that's what I need to remember.

So many things I'm thinking to add in but I'd be here till next year if I wrote down everything though 🤦‍♀️... Might be here by next year anyway if I have to do mr 😅

Oh an I forgot to say in my reply to you about the DCD and my daughter being dangerously clumsy and uncoordinated, I did add all that in already. It would be funny if it wasn't so bloody dangerous, she literally veers from side to side bumping into parked cars, trees, the wall and constantly trips up over nothing at all! So yeah I would definitely add the DCD in when you do your sons forms if he's anything like my daughter with that.

Sorry for long reply again I'm on a right waffle tonight 😂

NC 09/09/

I am starting to worry that I have downplayed my son's care needs. School are in the middle of an EHCP process for my boy after assessing that he is working upto 3 years behind his peers. Is it pointless sending in more evidence at this late date? I just want to know now, I have my other son's renewal due in August. This process can be quite overwhelming. Good luck to all those waiting x

Maybe call them tomorrow and ask to give evidence over the phone? Or maybe even ask for DM to phone you if its already gone to them?

Everytime I called in, I was told to post it. So I kept Freeposting the additional evidence.

Lfair2025 · 24/01/2025 23:39

hi is DLA open tomorrow, they range today to ask some more questions said a desion was being made today and letter will be sent out. I didn't think to ask if he was getting awarded or not. It sounded positive though. How long does backpay normally take. Thank you

Has any one been awarded for a diagnosis of adhd ??

My son was awarded yesterday with adhd, but he does have autism aswell, have not received letter yet to see what reason's he was awarded for x

MummyJones94 · 25/01/2025 09:29

MR YET TO BE DONE ADVICE NEEDED.
hey this Is a bit of a long one so please bare with me.
I put in a claim for my daughter SD21/08
She got rejected about 2weeks ago based on information from the school. My daughter is suspected autism/adhd and masks when in school. The school have said my daughter has no signs of autism or Adhd and they have no concerns. To top it off the school contacted the child development centre and they said they have never heard of my daughter!! Now here's the thing. The school last March had to do a emergency strategy meeting as my daughter disclosed she had tried to kill herself with a dressing gown rope and was really struggling. This resulted in measures being put in place at home and school. I've now obtained paperwork with her risk assessment on it stating my daughter has to be under constant supervision. I was under the impression my daughter was on the cdc waiting list but it turns out she's not. This is because cdc won't pick her up if she's on the waiting list for chams. The case handler hasn't looked at any of my child's needs and has based their decision on what the school have said. I've now got a letter from her mental health nurse stating a few referrals have been submitted for my daughter to be seen by chams for adhd/autism assessment. The school have now done me a letter to state they done a supporting letter for a referral jan last year to the gp. Is this classed as new evidence? I'm so frustrated with everything especially battling the school. All I want is for my daughter to get the help she needs and money she is entitled to. She has sensory needs constant supervision impulsive behaviour. Lacks common sense. She even jumped off a 22ft roof and broke her arm on purpose 😭. She has broken sleep she wonders around the house turning appliances on during the night tries to get out of the house. She attacks people whilst they are driving and has to be restrained for everyone's safety. The joke of this all is she's on the school sen register but the school have not concerns what so ever.

Any advice welcome thank you.

😂 that's what this place is for, everyone loves a good waffle sometimes. Its the little things we see as normal and everyday that when you talk to others about it, you realise that it's not, even my mum looks at me as if to say you do that for how long, she's 9. Bedtime is on average an hour or more everyday, getting her out of bed is a challenge, eating food and even sitting on a chair probably is so time consuming.

My son is just 1000 miles an hour and has 2 little horns on his forehead from falls and face planting walls🤦🏼‍♀️ he constantly bumps into stuff, when he was in nursery they said he would fall off a log for no reason, and just walk into tables, chairs and posts. I still need to hold his hand going up and down stairs. He had his assessment and I didn't realise how bad it was until the doctor asked him to lie down and get up again and he fell every time, he has no spatial awareness. If he's not supervised when we're out he has so many falls, he had 3 buckle fractures in 3 months, he was out of the splint for a week then back in one, a week later he refractured the same wrist. He bumps so much now he doesn't tell anyone because he's so used to it, school get really panicky because he doesn't tell them even when it's head bumps 😫

Hi, is the dla open today? I need to update my uc and I don't know what info I need to update it so I just wanted to ask dla when it's dated from and the rates.

ThatTwinklyBlueUser · 25/01/2025 10:06

Hi, I've been silently watching these threads and they been keeping me sane!

Our sd is the 23/9 recieved a letter yesterday asking for extra evidence from my sons school. Which I have sent in.

He has 27% attendance at school currently and is on the waitlist for an adhd and autism assessment so I've sent the acceptance letters for these also.

I'm hoping the fact they are asking for additional evidence this means it's with a decision maker. Or is this wishful thinking?

OneCosyBluePombear · 25/01/2025 11:15

Update
Scan date 13/09 I called Monday to be told that it’s in Que and the usual 25 week wait.
Received a text this morning to say your child qualifies for DLA you will receive a letter in 2 weeks. Exactly 19 weeks and 1 day.
Im over the moon because I really thought it was going to be a decline as I was worried I’d not put enough info on the form.
Good luck to everyone waiting hopefully they are now a good way through September

It does sound like they are now in the process of sorting your claim, doesn't it?Your scan date is day before mine.
Did the school write anything in your form for you at all?

They didn't. I was a little clueless when I filled in the form so I just wrote a statement explaining his needs.
I've sent them the minutes from the numerous school meetings we have now and his send teacher has written a statement.
I also have some info from our social worker that I've sent off so I'm hoping this will be enough. Thank you for replying

Oh good luck, sounds like you have given them plenty of evidence. My Sons school were very supportive when I was filling the form and the SENCO filled in her part and his teacher from the previous year did a statement too as his new teacher in September wouldn't have known him and his needs well enough.I have read that some schools are not very helpful with DLA claims,so it is great that they have given you the evidence you need.x

Hi guys
can some one help. I was awarded MRC for my son 2 weeks ago. He turns 3 in May I recived a new pack saying if I want to claim motobility. If I don’t claim it now as to less evidence will they stop his care rate or will I be not able to apply for it in the future when I have more evidence? Hope it makes sense thank you

You can only get high rate mobility from aged 3 so it is only worth applying for if your child meets every check point on the VUW or SMI flowcharts.
Nothing happens if you don't send the forms back 🙂
