DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 63

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 22/01/2025 21:02

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

can anyone help me?
last week I was told the claim was assigned to case manager…
Monday was told no decision had been made yet…
just got told it is in the holding queue 🤔
this is so frustrating

A case manager checks over the claim then it’s placed in another que for the decision maker

Hiya when sending in extra evidence…

what do I have to write on the top of the page again?

also if I have two new claims and have extra evidence for both , can I send it in one envelope or two for each claim?

many thanks

Name, D.O.B and NI number.
I'd probably send them separately but if you did send together include a covering letter explaining it

My son's forms came in October for Feb 28th renewal. SD 4th November and awarded the exact same award for another 2 and a half years (up to the day before his 12th birthday) the decision was made on the 30th January. Evidence sent EHCP, ASC and combined ADHD diagnosis, sensory passport. His teacher filled the section in. MRC + LRM which is spot on for him. Good luck, gather the evidence and try not to stress

Edited

Thank you I'm dreading it. We are still on the adhd and autism waiting list. I sent the CAMHS report which states they cannot confirm ADHD but that she shows strong attributes to ADHD. I also printed off emails from SEND at school supporting the referrals for speech therapy for hypermobility. I have also sent the school nurses phone number and email to support everything written in the claim. It's just so so stressful 😫 I hope there is enough evidence as we are still on 3 different waiting lists for 3 different things to support the claim.

Ririjade1990 · 16/02/2025 15:23

We don't have an EHCP in place but school have clarified she has slow processing so she will be getting extra time for exams and be in a room away from the other children.

I think what you have to remember is she got it before without diagnosis or EHCP, just provide same evidence plus any up to date stuff and as long as things haven't improved you should be fine. I think it's more people who are wanting an increase who are figuring an up hill battle. Nothing changed for my son but his diagnosis came through in time for the renewal. But it's based on needs not diagnosis anyway. They're well aware that a diagnosis takes YEARS 😩

Thank you, yes I'm trying not to stress 🤣 you've calmed down a little bit. Nothing has changed and we have just started more counselling with invictus wellbeing. (Another referral from CAMHS) luckily this one only took 8 months to come into action. I am possibly going to try push for an EHCP also. I'm guessing school won't push for it due to funding. 🤷‍♀️ thank you for your comments they put me slightly at ease.

I've had it both ways, my youngests school applied for an echp without being asked, my middle's high school tried to tell me he wouldn't qualify so I went down the parental request for him. It's always worth asking but know you don't need school to agree. If the LA refuse to assess its just evidence that her needs should be met by the notional budget. When they're pushed into meeting needs they might support you and apply for an ehcp themselves. That's what happened with my middle's. Turned down in January 2024, by April 2024 school applied themselves and it was inplace by August 2024.

Glad I have helped, I understand how you feel, it's a difficult process x

Two separate envelopes. Each child will have their own reference number. Put at the start of cover letter reference number, child’s name, date of birth and address.

Hi, does anyone know what number they ring from just I received a call from a private number but missed the call & I'm not sure if it was dla or not as they haven't left a voicemail
My scan date was 25/10 😊

StaceSplatt · 17/02/2025 14:06

How long do people normally wait for back pay? If my sons decision was made on Thursday, when can I expect payment?

I'd say tomorrow. My son's decision was made on Friday and the back pay came on Wednesday

Sweetmad · 19/02/2025 06:05

Good morning everyone. I’ve been a silent reader on here for good while now. We put in a new claim for our son and was scanned on 10/10. Woken up to this morning with the back pay in my account but no letter as of yet so hoping that arrives soon! It’s been about 18 weeks all in for us and when I rang on Friday just gone they said there had been no decision made but then the money has arrived this morning so not too sure when the actual decision was made but it was a nice surprise. Hopefully the new claim dates are taking less than the 25 week wait they keep saying to everyone. Good luck all fingers crossed for you all x

Daniellefp82 · 19/02/2025 12:21

Aww no how can it be with decision maker and then lost all your evidence that’s proper bad and to make u wait ages like when I rang I had a grumpy women didn’t ask any security questions give me the 25 weeks talk then hang up before I could say anything else it bad they said no to your child that went through all though ops and using a wheelchair as well that’s should be enough to say yeah I’m sorry I’m fuming with them they say it not means tested yet starting to thing other wise I haven’t got a lot of evidence to send them as still waiting for autism assessment to come through I had a letter come through for speech and Language for 19 march as he non verbal doesn’t say anything at all in nappies as he don’t understand potty training plus he can’t tell me when he needs to go hardly sleeps through the night got to feed him his food as he will have meltdown and then won’t eat at all I got early years come here once a week she wrote a letter for me to send which I did I put down my health visitor number hoping they would contact her but this wait is bad I got my fingers crossed for you that you get what your child deserves with MR really do ❤️I got a feeling I be doing MR fingers crossed for you 🤞❤️xxxx

It’s disgusting it really is how they can make people wait as long as they do it’s so unfair really is my little girl goes for her op in 2 weeks it’s up to an18 hour op an these have her both consulting names phone numbers an her school and don’t think they been intouch with any as they didn’t the first time a round it’s been nearly a year wait for her to get wot she deserves I don’t feel hopeful with the mr to even tho sent loads more letters off prove in just don’t think they look at it to be honest or get intouch with the people who know about my little girl’s disabilities they have it all an still said no the first time to having to wait for a mr now it’s been 22 weeks already waiting been with the dm since last Monday am still no decision this morning how hard can it be to give are children wot they deserve it’s breaking my heart reading these posts how they make us go though this

srellim · 20/02/2025 11:02

Rang on Monday and the form hadn't even been looked at yet...woke up with money in account this morning! Worked out it was MRC + LRM Scan date 9/10/24. So relieved I cried after almost not applying for a 'high functioning' ASD 5 year old because I thought my child wouldn't qualify. Sent diagnosis letters, OT and SALT reports and wrote down all the struggles with daily routine and meltdowns/refusals.
