DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 63

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 22/01/2025 21:02

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Hopefully we both get good news for the kids 🤞🏼glad your son has the right care in place & that should support your claim, I originally was given the deadline date of a decision for the 19th March but im really hoping i hear back before then!trying to refrain from calling till i get to 18weeks lol let the wait commence 🙃

i was told april the other day the wait is torture i wish you all the best tho ill be updating whenever i can

Ash900 · 23/01/2025 16:34

It’s such a strange feeling now I know it’s with a DM. Like I knew how the process worked anyway but now I know it’s with a DM, all I can think is there is currently a stranger out there reading about my child and basically judging him. I don’t like it 😂😂

I haven’t called once since I sent off I’m trying to hold off and just wait for either a letter or any back pay if accepted fingers crossed we’re soon🤞🏼

Dm rang me earlier with some questions. Told me he's doing the claim now. I'm not 30 mins in waiting to speak to someone to see if I can find out the outcome. What time does the lines close. I'm so scared right now

My scan date was 16/09. Rang up today and told the case hasn’t even been looked at but it’s right near the top (whatever that means) she was nice enough though and told me it should be a couple more weeks until completion

PositivityRipples · 23/01/2025 16:48

@Mumto42244 I'm sorry you didn't get the outcome you wanted.
They must have requested a medical report from any of the medical professionals you listed on your claim form or a medical report from the DWP healthcare professionals, that's what they mean by they've used medical report to make their decision. You can question it though if you like, you can call and request a statement of reasons for their decision.

Same SD my boy got referred to occupational therapy and physio therapy we had an appointment through for March for him but I didn’t mention anything on the form as he hadn’t even been referred when we sent it off now I’m wondering if I have enough time and if its even worth it with it only being a first appointment

Not strictly DLA related really but my two DDs had their EHCP accepted today at panel.

Definitely going to see if someone can put a note on the system whilst I await the formal confirmation letter to send.

SD 06/09

£1390 just arrived from DLA.

That seems like 19 weeks at middle rate, no mobility. Will await the letter to see the decision but given the necessity for a specific car, pushchair and restraints due to frequent refusal episodes, eloping and no danger awareness, there is also night care needs due to them not sleeping and bet wetting so needs frequent changes in the night, (even with trying melatonin) will consider MR.

How old is your child if you don’t mind me asking?

@zoeybrooks45 they are 4, turning 5 in September.

Currently battling the council over an EHCP as he isn't likely to goto primary school currently. He's already excluded from the main nursery classroom.

New SD 12/10/24.

Hey up!

long time lurker here first time poster!

NC 5/11

Had two missed calls while at work today from 0800 260 0700 which when I googled is DWP. I do however have a PIP claim going too. Does anyone know if the above number is DLA or PIP related.

I was conducting interview all afternoon and didn’t finish until after 5pm so couldn’t ring to ask!

Haven’t called yet and wasn’t planning to as can see here the responses people get so I’m just patiently waiting it out!

TIA

does your child have a diagnosis now? As I think they need that to meet SMI for mobility. I would start MR as soon as possible and gather evidence it’s at least another 4 months wait. Congrats on your award!

Yes. They are diagnosied with ASD and SPD. Reports from child phycologist and occupational therapist were provided, plus copies of nursery learning plans and the SEN funding they get and reasoning why. We have medication for his sleeping issue which was disclosed too. It was very detailed, pointing out all the care needs and time required. As he can't goto nursery, my wife isn't able to even consider a return to work.
