DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 63

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 22/01/2025 21:02

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

I always send to the same I sent claim form off 2 think Wolverhampton

I’m from there, I wish I knew where the office was so I could hand deliver lol. Is it WV99 or 98 postcode? I didn’t think they accepted the additional information, I guess I can always just call and check it’s been received whilst hoping it’s not got lost

NC. SD 19/09. Awarded today.
Called yestarday and was told I wouldn't hear anything until atleast 17/02 but today received a call to confirm some details followed by a text saying that my child does qualify. (On the phone also confirmed he qualifies but not able to say rate). Such a relief to know that it's done. It's been a stressful few weeks.

For anyone worrying that they didn't send enough info, my son is 13 and has suspected ADHD. On a waiting list for assessment. School were awful so I now home school. No input, no one to contact and no evidence to send. I was really detailed in the form and was sure it would be a decline due to lack of evidence but it's come back ok and we are over the moon.

This thread has kept me going. Good luck to everyone still waiting and still fighting for what their child deserves.

Princess23 · 06/02/2025 18:32

Congratulations 🎉 on all awarded today and fingers crossed 🤞 to all who r waiting mr 3/9 hopefully 🙏 not much longer now x

UpsideDownAndBackToFront · 06/02/2025 19:00

Hi all, I’ve sent away my daughter’s renewal yesterday with a grovelling letter because it’s so close to the end of the award but I see lots of people say they don’t look at it until just before award ends anyway so I’m keeping my fingers crossed there’s no issues. Sent it Tracked 24 yesterday but just checked and it’s still not updated to say it’s arrived 😬
Anyway I don’t know if anyone has had this issue before but I am actually still also waiting to hear about a change of circumstances scan date mid September but award ends mid February and I’ve still not heard. I will ring at some point but lost my voice at the minute from this virus that’s going round! I don’t know how it works if they still have both forms and neither have been looked at yet. So just wondered if anyone experienced this before, TIA

I sent mine via freepost on the 23rd. Called them yesterday and they said it arrived on the 31st.

Cwarnick · 06/02/2025 20:17

@TheNattyReader that's good that you got awarded. My 13 year op ld son has been getting dla since 7 for asd diagnosis and then his renewel got rejected last October because they said he's in mainstream school no ehcp or any additional help, that he had no formal diagnosis(he has a diagnosis since age of 7)that his behaviour issues that there's no evidence they are down to a result of severe disability .
So I sent of diagnosis letter with report from his school to show he's not doing well in in bottom sets in all lessons and the senco typed a statement to say that he's been referred for ADHD also and he has a pass out of class and he's been on a ADHD 1:1 course and then I also got a letter from cahms (as he got a knife out and threatened me with it) few weeks back to say that they couldn't take cayden on as they don't think his behaviour is down to mental illness but is online with his neurodiversity and possible ADHD so I sent them that as evidence to prove that what they are saying is his behaviour issues are down to his asd and ADHD.
Iv been waiting 13 weeks now and I'm filled with anxiety that he gets declined again!

Hi all it’s so nice to be on this thread. My son has adhd, just had a diagnosis of Autism , tics. His forms are due to be renewed by June so I have already done these ready to send off! I have the interim letter with the diagnosis of autism and also the ADos assessment paperwork, but don’t have the full report. If I receive this I will send in. His school are useless and I have now started the ball rolling for an EHCP. He has a Sen 1 plan that’s fairly detailed. I’m really worried seeing everyone’s posts that they are getting declined for this now once renewal has gone in!! It’s frightening! Please help a scared mum out here! He is also awaiting an appointment for speech and language. Tia xxx

Hi all been following this thread for abit as the dreaded renewal came through the door. My daughter is 11 and has been receiving high rate care and low rate mobility. She is currently on the waiting list for ADHD and autism test and had counselling at CAMHS and has been referred for speech and language therapy as well as occupational health for hypermobility issues. On top of that she has separation anxiety bad mental health and self harms :( renewal due in June. Really worried about the outcome.. the forms itself gave me anxiety. Posted forms yesterday. How has everyone's renewals gone with what they have been rewarded? Thanks all.

My son's forms came in October for Feb 28th renewal. SD 4th November and awarded the exact same award for another 2 and a half years (up to the day before his 12th birthday) the decision was made on the 30th January. Evidence sent EHCP, ASC and combined ADHD diagnosis, sensory passport. His teacher filled the section in. MRC + LRM which is spot on for him. Good luck, gather the evidence and try not to stress
