DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 63

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 22/01/2025 21:02

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

I’ve sent in all you’ve mentioned and final ECHP plan but it keeps referring back to age as 3 years old. Currently appealing as turned down at MR. hopefully you get a better outcome x

Did you ask for a written statement of reasons?

Can I ask how long did you wait? It’s has been with a decision maker for nearly 2 weeks no outcome as of yet

DailyMadness · 05/02/2025 16:35

Hi been silently following along for a while. MR scan date 03/09 still waiting 😐

Frankadoodle · 05/02/2025 16:54

@Glitzxx lady was really nice on the phone , said that it's with a case manager . Whatever that means ? I know it's different to a decision maker. Then I got the usually reel off about claims taking 25 weeks . And they don't know where my sons birth certificate is but it's on their system 😂

What does a case manager do ?

i think mine will be a decline then as yours and the other ladys are being looked at :( ill ring tomoz and ask again and no idea good luck :)

Frankadoodle · 05/02/2025 16:57

@Glitzxx I wouldn't presume it's a decline for you .

I think the case manager might just check everything is filled in correctly on the form and if they have the correct evidence they need to look at the claim ? Before it goes to the decision maker maybe ?

Ohh I might try and ring them then, so the day after you called you had a decision? Wow x

That happened to me, same scan date. Rang Friday and it was in the que. Rang Monday to ask if extra evidence was received and was told dm made a decision.

my scans date for MR 20th August. Recieved an award last Tuesday 29th. Backpack came yesterday. We were uplifted from MRC to HRC but no mobility. I am hoping now we have HRC it will help consider under SMI/VUW. DM had form less than 24hrs. Monday I found out assigned to case manager and Tuesday morning award. When is the last time you called for an update?

both our mr dates were at the same date. My first claim was from December 2023 however my son didn’t have a diagnosis at the time so I asked for mr in August. Are you going to tribunal? My son was awarded hrc first time round. I called and asked for an update today but decision maker hasn’t made a decision yet. She asked me if it’s ok if she contacts the school and she has. Not sure why she is taking so long to make a decision.

UmElise · 05/02/2025 17:30

Does anyone know why some decision makers take weeks to make decisions? They have all the info from myself and my sons school 😳

Saltandpepper09 · 05/02/2025 17:41

SD 27/09 Had a phone call yesterday to go over some points and received a message this morning to say my child qualifies - not sure on rates etc as will have to wait for letter/payment, whichever come first

Cwarnick · 05/02/2025 17:48

Hi my some has been getting carers since age of 7 when he was diagnosed and then got declined in October for renewal so I did MR 6th November and sent them some evidence. In statement of reasons they said that his behaviour issues wasnt basically proof that that it was down to him having autism which they also said there was no diagnosis but there is I so sent that to but since then I tried to get him into cahms as he got a knife out a few weeks back and they come a decision that they don't think it's down to mental health and that it appears that this behaviour is down to neurodiversity and possible ADHD which he has also been referred for so I sent this letter as evidence as cahms are stating that they don't think mental health but down to him having autism and possible ADHD. Do you think this evidence will help my case?

She might be off work etc, it might be worth escalating if you are passed 25 weeks. That’s the time limit now. Yeah just appealed via tribunal, we got our diagnosis literally two weeks ago aswell.

Yeah that’s true probably that. It will be 25 weeks next week. Did you ask for them to look under smi or under vuw?

COC 19th August still waiting 😫 anyone else just fed up waiting

I think my reasons were poorly written as I have all the evidence. I’ve written a proper statement now highlighting the evidence that applies to the flow chat. We have an ECHP with 1-1 and special placement. Also I was concentrating on night needs mostly. I’ve submitted it agian and waiting to hear now. It’s written in plain terms by paediatrician, GP, teacher, SALT, OT and Educational psychologist. I think now I am going down the SMI route as we got diagnosis and HRC. What about yourself?

Ok I thought with the tribunal they don’t accept new evidence? They’ll go by what you had sent them for the first claim and mr.
