DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 63

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 22/01/2025 21:02

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

I don’t understand how they can tell some people over the phone and not others makes no sense to me

Stacey220786 · 28/01/2025 16:38

I am 13 weeks tomorrow from scan date
so I am assuming at least another 7 week wait!
I honestly didn’t even know DLA was a thing until I privately got my daughter diagnosed in August last year!
I had to quit my full time job to care for her needs and should have been getting this for her since early last year! 😩
the wait is awfully long isn’t it! x

Flowers90 · 28/01/2025 16:46

I'm now thinking she's likely been declined as they will not tell me anything over the phone. She has a genetic condition, needs chest physio 3 times daily, wears a spinal brace for scoliosis, skin care twice a day. We are at the hospital monthly for monitoring for medication she takes. Mri scans under general anesthetic 6 monthly. Falls most days and needs support to get up afterwards. Likely dsypraxia, can't hold a pen struggles with standard cutlery! Will wait for letter and will be doing a MR if it is a decline

OneCosyBluePombear · 28/01/2025 16:49

I have a UC question. I have been awarded middle rate care DLA.
If I apply for careers allowance I know it’s taken off UC £ for £ but if you get a back payment from them so they take the back payment off your UC or just your payments going forward?
Thank you.

Ring back option 4

Gmam1994 · 28/01/2025 17:12

I’m loosing my mind scan date is around the 12/09 put my letter in that really safe place that’s to safe to be found so I’m not 100% ( two and a half weeks after debt via recorded delivery on 29/8)
it was a renewal but it was sent in late with waiting for evidence to be written and moving house

I keep checking my account for a pending payment like a crazy person calling seems pointless I’ve been fine up until this week but it’s ruling my day checking the forums Facebook and bank account for the pending payment

Do they close at 5? I'm guessing they open at 9 tomorrow?. Will ring after the school run

Lfair2025 · 28/01/2025 17:30

I've been on phone 50mins still waiting. 🤦‍♀️

It doesn’t mean anything, they aren’t supposed to tell you over the phone but some do. Literally had a HRC HRM for an ongoing period which is one of the best PIP awards possible but they wouldn’t tell me over the phone. Even when the letter didn’t arrive they wouldn’t say and instead sent another letter. It’s really frustrating especially when others are told but has no indication of success or not.

They don't deduct any money for back payment of owed benefits, I'm pretty sure.

Just called on general enquiries, ran through security checking my bank details ect. Told a decision was made yesterday but unable to tell Me what over the phone. Scan date 17th September

Same SD as me

I've seem MANY posts saying they wouldn't say the outcome and assume they had been declined but then when they called back or waited they eaither got through to someone who could say and had been awarded or they got a payment

Don't lose hope of stress about it tonight and call tomorrow. I think some of them just don't say on the phone ❤️ wishing you the best x

PositivityRipples · 28/01/2025 18:32

@OneCosyBluePombear Yes they take the back payment off your UC.. So carers allowance will give you a lump sum, then when you inform uc that you are getting carers allowance they will adjust all your previous statements back to the date the carers allowance started and will take the same amount pound for pound off your uc monthly but they will also add the carers element from the date of the carers allowance too and lift any benefit cap you're under and add the disabled child element too. @B2B25 That's incorrect information.

Ah I thought the poster said carers element rather than carers allowance. My bad.

I'm the 20/9th and the wait is literally causing me to itch my own skin off!! 😓 the closer we get the harder it seems! Hopefully not too long to go now 🤞

I thought my scan date was 20/09 then called up and they said it's the 27th instead. Hopefully not long now x

Mines 24/9 NC still not heard anything yet.I am the same, every time my phone makes a noise am checking for a text from them.

Invinsibubblality · 28/01/2025 19:23

I've seen awards for 17/09, 24/09 and 02/10, but plenty around the beginning of September still waiting. Realistically could be any day or a couple of weeks still!

Angibarr11 · 28/01/2025 19:48

Nc sd 20/9
Little man has an appointment tomorrow regarding his dyspraxia diagnosis, I'm so stressed. Is it too late in the day if he does get a diagnosis to add it to evidence? It was at least six weeks between his autism diagnosis and actually getting the letter stating his diagnosis (I held off doing the application until I had the letter) so I've got no hope of having official evidence to give them before they make a decision 😓 it is noted In the application that it's suspected but I'm not sure if that's enough 🤷‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm just so tired right now feeling like I have to constantly prove his struggles with a letter from a professional... it's our day to day lives and it's hard! 😤 sorry for ranting!!

Kwalker1987 · 28/01/2025 20:18

NC scan date 8/10 hot call today from decision maker to ask about night routine abd said she will text me with confirmation of decision today, no te t as yet though ,so maybe not to much longer for you x

Lyannaa · 28/01/2025 20:32

NC for 5 year old dd with suspected autism. Scan date was only early Jan so we'll have quite a wait but that's ok, I'm well used to playing the long game. Good luck to everyone else.

zoeybrooks45 · 28/01/2025 20:39

@PositivityRipples i know you probably answered this in the previous thread. But are case managers the ones that approve back payment? Or the ones that assess application. I always thought case managers get the claim after decision makers award. Can you clarify?
