DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 63

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 22/01/2025 21:02

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Was with a dm Wednesday last week. She did tell me it could take 5 weeks still and I know it’s only been 5 days but my god I am feeling less and less hopeful as the days go on 😂

Ems20112019 · 27/01/2025 14:39

Hi All, been watching for a while now. My son has received DLA since he was 5 years old, he is now13. We renewed before his 13th birthday (back in May) and I sent lots of further evidence for claim to be changed- currently received MRC and LRM. MR was sent off 30/09 but I received a letter to say it would be 11 weeks, now of course they are saying 25 weeks😩Honestly it is all a fight, fight for EHCP, fight for special school, fight for 1:1 support in school, fight for DLA. It is never ending!!

Hi everyone,

Can anyone help me please.

My child was already in receipt of DLA HRC and I have he disability element and carers element already applied. He has now been awarded the mobility part due to COC. Do I need to notify UC? Please any advice welcome.

You wouldn’t need to notify UC about mobility element as they award care element based on being in receipt of DLA. If your child was already on HRC I assume that they are in receipt of the severe disability element? I think that’s what it’s called if they are you don’t need to notify them of the change. I mean you can if you want but it won’t change your entitlement.

Amazing, thank you, yes I get the severely disabled element already.

I was worried notifying them would be a change of circumstance and I lose my transitional protection payment. But I'm also scared of not telling them and getting in trouble! X

Does that mean it’s with a decision maker? And how long is it usually with them?

What a relief for you, I hope you get the right outcome 🤞🏽

I called on Friday and it hadn’t been looked at yet. I haven’t called today. I’ll call tomorrow and see what’s happening, if anything.

I can see pending payments in bank 2 days before they come in. I can also see Mondays payments on a Thursday. So I’m checking my bank regularly as the weeks go on.

Nothing yet ☹️

Justanotherlove · 27/01/2025 17:36

@AllTheWaiting hiya are you able to tell us your experience with the coc?
Lots of people on here doing coc for high mobility... What did you claim under, smi or vuw? Also info about age and diagnosis of your child? Xx Thank you xx

puglover93 · 27/01/2025 17:54

Hi everyone, my son has autism, global development delay and awaiting genetic syndrome test results (although we’re fairly sure he has one as he has most of the symptoms)
He currently gets MRC but we’ve asked for a MR for HRC, because he has alot of trouble with his sleeping, so waiting to hear back on that.
i was just wondering how long people are being awarded for? The whole process is so stressful isn’t it! He’s nearly 3 and I don’t know if I should also ask for a longer award as his conditions aren’t going to change? His current award is until early 2026. Thanks so much! X
