DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 61

1000 replies

macap · 30/12/2024 17:21

Hey! Thought I'd make a new thread as previous one very close to being full!

These threads have been a big help whilst waiting for the outcome of our application. Sure they help everyone else too! It's stressful!

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.

New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?

Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.

Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)

Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.

If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600

Tomorrow is 20 weeks for me and i only got one letter, at the beginning informing me that they got form etc. Should I be worried. 😞

No definitely not as I didn’t get a letter saying they had received the forms I had to phone up and ask. I think it’s pot luck who gets the letters or not.

your very close now I think end of week/next week you should have a decision x

I agree, and the more posts I see about people being rejected for the same/similar situation as my son just makes me wonder if I’m about to go in the rejection pile as well

I hope so too, it's been a long wait 🤞

I called yesterday and the guy on the phone was so apologetic. He asked if I had out in a claim for my son before (son had previous DLA which ended in March as I didn't get the forms back in time). Without going in to loads of detail, life was pretty horrendous the last year. I had to start again with a new claim which I sent in August.

Amyway, he said that the claim should have been expedited from when they received the forms 14/08. He went off to speak to a supervisor who agreed to send the form and evidence over to be looked at asap, and they hope I'll get an answer by the end of next week.

Has anyone had similar happen? I'm coming up to 20 week wait now and I'm worried sick it is going to be rejected. He got MRC and LRM previously although having read all this info this time, I realise he should have been eligible for HRC originally too.

It feels like his claim has been forgotten.

My son previously had DLA, we didn't receive renewal forms and I didn't realise until receiving his last payment. So I had to phone up for them.
Previously he got HRC and LRM, this time he got MRC and LRM, I've just completed a MR where they put it back to HRC because they had seemed to ignore the whole night time section, saying he only needed help during the day.
It was a long wait but we got there (17 weeks intitially and 20 weeks MR). Someone on the last thread said because the claim had been lowered there would be reason to contact them to get it escalated due to hardship but I didn't because we were so close to them doing his scan date when I found that out anyway.

Yes that's just telling you that under special circumstances they will take why ur only just telling them then you will get another letter saying wat the owe you
You would think they would just know with DLA that its takes that long an that's why we give dates in from 20+ weeks ago it will definitely be backdated though

Ok thank you. @Chels2020 they verified my daughter on 24th then had this yesterday so shouldn’t be long till you receive the same letter as above. But yes got to expect delays because of new year x

I received this letter. It’s a generic one due to how long DLA/PIP take to decide (over a month). This means that they will back date your money.
