DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 61

1000 replies

macap · 30/12/2024 17:21

Hey! Thought I'd make a new thread as previous one very close to being full!

These threads have been a big help whilst waiting for the outcome of our application. Sure they help everyone else too! It's stressful!

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.

New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?

Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.

Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)

Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.

If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600

Hi everyone , I have been silent reader but watching everyone’s awards have motivated me to keep positive ! NC SD 12/08 called today and have been awarded. I’m currently still on tax credits and due to apply for UC in the next 2-3weeks. Is there any point in me applying for Carers Allowance or should I just wait until I claim UC ?

Congratulations on your award, awards getting closer to my scan date 14/08. Hoping to hear something soon!

I called only twice: once when I didn’t hear anything at the beginning and today. My daughter is autistic (we are in the middle of the assessment), she is homeschooled second year now, she has IBS, anxiety and panic attacks. I am wondering if being homeschooled would make more difficult for them to decide… 😞

I've rang a few times, one call was to change details but other calls have been because I've wanted updates based on info given in previous calls, which turns out to be different every time.

I'm not sure on the home schooling but I would maybe think that, that shows your daughter has more care and support needs, which would go in your favour???

Carers allowance is separate to UC. Be aware that your carers allowance will be deducted from your UC award. I would just claim CA now it won’t make a difference

I hope so, I have big problems with school to help with anything. CAMHS asked previous school for report etc and 10 weeks and nothing. I call them and no one even called me back 🙄😞
now I am trying to sort EHCP and I am so lost 😞

Update tax credit before you switch over.

Update your claim now, making a change when you’re on universal credit will affect your transitional protection.

So I gave in and called up today. I had an excuse as I had sent sone additional information in November.
Was waiting for 30mins. Went through to general enquiries. Lady was quite nice. Just confirmed my documents had been received and when I asked her if she could see if it had been allocated she just said its in a holding queue. She said something about she will upload the additional evidence to the holding queue too. Not sure why it wasn't with my claim already.
She did apologise and say because of the bank holidays they have had nearly a week off so claims are niw 20 to 25 weeks.
My sc 20/8 so been 19weeks.
Was shaking when waiting just want to know one way or another!

Yeah I saw something about this , I saw that you can claim carers allowance then when I go onto UC claim the carers element on there too

I updated tax credits today. But just wanted to see if there was any point with claiming carers as I know it gets deducted from UC

DuffTrio · 31/12/2024 15:07

I had a phone call from DM. I didn’t send enough upto date evidence and because we have no diagnosis yet she wasn’t happy with accepting me without more evidence..

It's not meant to be about diagnosis.....did they clarify what they meant by up to date evidence?

Are they going to give you an opportunity to gather more evidence before they do make decision, so you don't have to go through MR??

This must be so stressful for you especially after waiting all this time x

That’s correct. Your carers allowance is deducted of your overall UC entitlement at the end

Your carers allowance will be backdated to when you made the claim and it’s not deductible pound for pound from child tax credit. When it comes through presumably after you’ve made the UC claim, your TP will be recalculated to include the carers allowance and so will be higher. Hopefully the was I’ve worded that makes sense haha.

I’m sure I seen someone post on here they take evidence up to 2 years old. You definitely do not need a diagnosis to claim DLA

Her issue was that my most recent evidence was 23rd May 2024 and I didn’t ring for my forms until July.. but I did and I waited 4 weeks for those forms before ringing again to then was told I should of waited 6 weeks for the forms but she sent new ones for me anyway. I still only received the one set of forms🙄
she’s given me until 13th January to get new evidence from Peds and a her new EHCP draft which I’m already still waiting for
I think it’s very unrealistic but I have no choice but to try

That’s definitely unrealistic! Your evidence is still less than 12 months old and don’t think these DM realise how hard it is to get new evidence on a time limit

She’s given me until 13/01. The evidence they got was her 1 appointment letter on pathway. We missed her December appointment because I had lost my phone and in between getting a new one I’d got the text for her feedback appointment. She said may-Dec is unusually long for appointments.

I have since rang Peds and was told she at the top of the list for the January appointments but they can’t send me anything today that until her appointment is booked
school isn’t open until Monday to get the ECHO draft DM wants to tight squeeze to get it in by the 13th
