DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 61

1000 replies

macap · 30/12/2024 17:21

Hey! Thought I'd make a new thread as previous one very close to being full!

These threads have been a big help whilst waiting for the outcome of our application. Sure they help everyone else too! It's stressful!

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.

New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?

Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.

Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)

Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.

If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600

Coc done today, award not changed, due for renewal in March, they haven’t extended either and said I need to do form. Statement on phone said my son can walk 200m (mobility) and his care needs he is becoming of age where he should be doing it himself (bladder issues 10y)
if they haven’t extended, is this likely they will end the claim in March do you think?
also can you query a decision on a COC?

zoeybrooks45 · 31/12/2024 09:47

Called this morning not been allocated. I told the lady about my evidence and she stated it will take up to 4 weeks to be scanned on so will have a Decison by then. I will take the with a pinch of salt haha xx

Foxhasbigsocks · 31/12/2024 10:01

Does anyone have any advice on tackling a renewal? I’ve never done one before and feeling a bit daunted.

The usual line was 2 weeks. I highly doubt it’ll take that long and would expect your decision we’ll before then.

I haven’t done one for a year but agree it is daunting. I guess take your time with it, keep a diary beforehand so that you can refer back to that? Gather any new evidence? Or evidence that is still relevant. All I’ve got is appointment letters and a general letter from my daughter’s nurse which I will be including. My daughter gets LRC only. I will be seeking to change that to MRC, mobility I’m doubtful she would qualify for but we can see about that too. As long as your child still has care needs above that of another child their age you should be fine.

HRM makes no difference to UC only the care side does x

If child was awarded just mobility and no care at lrm or hrm they would still be entitled to the disability element.
I was querying if they needed to know☺️ so thank you

sorry I was applying to your situation, they already know you get DLA so the HRM wouldn’t make a difference, however it reduces council tax in certain areas so may be worth checking with your local council

Always worth checking just incase, we get £44 a month of ours which isn’t much but we are band E for council tax so our bill is eyewateringly expensive so I’ll take anything 😂

Hello!
I call them today and there is no news. 😞

Domimo79 · 31/12/2024 12:30

Good afternoon ladies!

firstly I want to thank you all for your informative posts. It’s been very very helpful and secondly I wanted to add a little information that might help others.
I have a little boy that has lived with me since he was 2 years old ( he is now 7 ) he was born addicted to many drugs and continues to suffer the after effects. He has autism, adhd and suspected foetal alcohol syndrome. I never planned on applying for DLA as I didn’t believe he would be eligible. He has an EHCP and diagnosis’ proof that I sent off to evidence his needs but that is all.
Anyway the bit that you wanted to hear

tang for forms July 10th
sent back and scanned into the system 13th August
awarded today HRC LRM

once again thank you to you all, good luck to your children and Happy New year xxx

I called only twice: once when I didn’t hear anything at the beginning and today. My daughter is autistic (we are in the middle of the assessment), she is homeschooled second year now, she has IBS, anxiety and panic attacks. I am wondering if being homeschooled would make more difficult for them to decide… 😞
