DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 61

1000 replies

macap · 30/12/2024 17:21

Hey! Thought I'd make a new thread as previous one very close to being full!

These threads have been a big help whilst waiting for the outcome of our application. Sure they help everyone else too! It's stressful!

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.

New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?

Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.

Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)

Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.

If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600

It’s in my application that my son has been referred to the CDC by the GP but I’ve since received a letter from the CDC letting me know they have accepted his referral. He won’t get an appointment until at least September time but they have accepted it. I know it’s something minor but is it worth letting them know? Or is them knowing the GP has referred him enough without needing to know it’s been accepted? Not sure if it’ll really make a difference

It’s frustrating I know, but there was a lady I think it was @PositivityRipples on here that knows a DM and explained that claims may go out of date order depending on circumstances and health conditions for example.

They might be working on a 04/08 claim, but require more info from the claimant so then pick the next one off the pile while they wait for the info to come in if that’s makes sense and some claims are more straight forward than others. Mine is 22/08 NC. I have been told it’s with a DM but will just have to wait and see. We are getting a bit anxious. Hope you hear soon

I just called again spoke to a lovely lady! She explained that from 22weeks it will go to DM apparently so 22 weeks is tomorrow! Fingers crossed i hear something soon, the wait is horrible!

Kc1999x · 09/01/2025 14:24

@Katone it seems they working on some end of July MRs-beginning of August! You should hear soon with any luck🤞🏽 @SKB12 their MR scan date was the 06/08 and had theirs done on the 24/12. Yours should be getting close to a decision now! Good luck

My sons claim for MR went to the decision maker at 21+4, and had a decision 21+5 if that’s any help x

Did you ask UC regarding HRM? I haven’t had so much on here with one of my other sons 😐

No because my son already gets HRC someone said that they don’t need to be notified x

Kc1999x · 09/01/2025 14:28

StaceSplatt · 09/01/2025 09:55

when awarded DLA and you tell UC is it best just asking for the disability element to be added? And not the careers as that's £ for £ isn't it so wouldn't get anything backdated on that anyway, am I right in thinking this?

Edited

No carers allowance is the one taken £for£. Carers element is an added element on UC so it will be backdated! If you get LWCRA then you can’t get the carers element. Hope this helps x

I was exactly the same. Wanted to pull my hair out as time got closer to the 25weeks😂 it can change so quick with DLA though so they could tell you now that it’s not with a decision maker but within an hour it could be with one! Fingers crossed they pick it up soon. They seem to be moving quite quick once the decision maker starts looking at it! X

I hope so! I seen your comment and thought I need to call haha in the hopes it had changed from the other week! They have said it will be 25weeks on 31st Jan, but should go over to DM soon! I just want to know so I can figure out what to do next. It's so consuming lool

1000000%!!
I did a coc back in march for HRM. Got declined in July. MR submitted July and decision made to overturn on 17/12, HRM alongside his HRC until 2032 for my 4 year old autistic little boy! Best decision I made to fight them as I knew my son was entitled to it x

I’ve noticed from Facebook posts and threads that it seems to be 20-23 weeks that people are getting decisions with the odd few that have waited the 25 weeks x

Wow I'm 9/8 MR? and haven't heard anything x

Have you called to ask for an update? I thought they would go through early August quite quickly if they had got up to 06/08 prior to closing but it doesn’t look like it. I’ve read here that phone lines have been down a few times but whether that affects the system the DMs work from, I’m not sure

I'm fighting for HRM we get HRC already so I made it clear I was not arguing that part. That makes me hopeful then that they will see why he needs this, I'm glad you got that for your son! Xx

Anyone else's stomach do a summersault and feel like puking every time their phone makes a noise 🫣😂

Yes they extended my sons hrc on the coc but declined the mobility. I did go down the SMI route but they awarded under VUW-Refusal to walk. If they do turn it down, take it to tribunal! X

I called today after seeing a 6/8 being done and awarded on 24/12 so I thought I'd give it a try, lovely lady said it's 22weeks tomorrow and should go the DM by 22wks so 🤞🏼I hear something soon. The wait is killing me.

Nor me. I was considering doing a COC for my daughter but think I’ll just wait it out until renewal and then do a MR for her if needed. At least I will know then it’ll likely be 2026 before we hear anything back 😂
