DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 61

1000 replies

macap · 30/12/2024 17:21

Hey! Thought I'd make a new thread as previous one very close to being full!

These threads have been a big help whilst waiting for the outcome of our application. Sure they help everyone else too! It's stressful!

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.

New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?

Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.

Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)

Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.

If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600

I am 😂 I have only ever spoken to my sons head once, it’s always the teacher I speak to or SENDCo but the fact he has no idea who she is tells me she isn’t working with him let alone implementing all the things she said she would which is what I’ve called them out on. He’s not progressing there and they are fine with that but we aren’t and have said we think it’s best he changes school

Never had that much to do with the teachers as I'm sure they thought i was making it up. Her year 3 teacher was the dyslexia assessor/teacher and didn't tell her new teacher she tested highly likely as I'm sure she thought it was because if her attendance not actually dyslexia 🙄 it's like ffs her attendance is a symptom not the cause, and the asd assessor agreed with me

I'll be 21 for MR next week original SD date is 14/02, I keep seeing people awarded by text or just having the back pay in their bank after being told they weren't with a DM yet! So I'm constantly jumping when I see notifications on message or from my bank 😭🤣 and when it's not them I just feel sure it's another no 🤦🏼‍♀️

I’m calling them tomorrow and going to be more firm instead of just letting them fob me off, the decision maker called me before Xmas so I should of well had a decision by now, every time I ask if any notes they say no nothing except they spoke to you x

I would if I were you that's rubbish they keep fobbing you off. Ask to speak to the DM as they may have a better idea of what's going on x

I’ve always wondered if they doubt what parents are saying. The only evidence I have of his nightneeds is my own words, he’s on waiting lists to see the sleep clinic since November they said 6 month wait so not much longer to wait but still how am I meant to professionally prove anything when waiting lists are so long

I am in the same situation.
I asked my gp to print out his medical records where he agreed to refer him to a sleep clinic, the letter from sleep clinic advising how long it would take , his appointment letter in 2 weeks time , a sleep diary and my own personal statement.

Same scan date and I called on 2nd. Still not showing it's with a DM. I'm not really an anxious person but this long wait with no clue of what decision will be is stressful. Hopefully this week will be our week.

Fingers crossed 🤞
I think my anxiety has increased knowing it's with a DM but no answer yet.....makes me worry it is going to be rejected 😞

My scan date is the same as yours and I've heard nothing since a letter in October stating it will be 15 weeks 😅 I am planning on ringing tomorrow!

Kejay2010 · 06/01/2025 00:36

Hi guys! Been a silent reader for months. Scan date was 14/08. Rang last Wednesday to be told it’s with DM and could be up until 5th Feb to hear anything. I provided diagnosis letter, letter from school, letter from senco and also a letter from private 1-1 tutor but still have a bad feeling, don’t think I’ve ever felt so anxious waiting for something! Xx

Hey guys, we got awarded HRC and LRM back in may, I done a MR for HRM but I submitted it quite late as I’m struggling a lot more with her now I can’t get her into school, I can’t do my food shopping or make it to appointments she has no danger awareness and impulsive behaviours, throws things in the road and throws herself on the floor etc I have to literally pick her up and restrain her. I done a statement explaining why I think she should get it also I’ve got a letter from paediatrics stating about all these things but I saw in another forum that DM’s go to the senco and ask about this but my daughter masks a lot and the senco said she can tell them she’s late to school everyday and rarely attends but she don’t see her in the mornings and after school so will not be able to tell them anything. Has anyone ever been rejected for these reasons and does the dm always go to the school?

Sometimes they go to the school it depends what evidence you sent in originally and for the MR. However if you’ve gone down the route for SMI and they do talk to the school I’ve seen a lot be refused if child masks, they say that a child that can mask behaviours isn’t SMI🤷🏽‍♀️ however I did it under SMI, and my child got awarded under VUW-refusal to walk. So if school has seen your child refuse to walk and say it’s not a conscious choice then there’s always that.
I always say it depends whose desk it falls on! Fingers crossed for you though, good luck 🤞🏽🤞🏽

Thanks so much, the only people that have seen her do these things such as throwing herself onto the floor, the meltdowns she has and throwing things is the school office as they have to take her in in the mornings but there not allowed to write statements but they’ve seen it all! But because she hasn’t seen it she just refuses to write anything. I’ve submitted her autism diagnois, Camhs, paediatric letters, adhd referral letters I sent quite a lot tbh in her autism report it states about her having no danger awareness and the throwing things because it wasn’t elaborated enough as there’s just so much they’ve wrote a separate report for me on that and I’ve wrote something else to back it up but I’m going to try and apply under the terms SMI I’m hoping they accept it because honestly the struggle is real I’m having to restrain her a lot of the time and carry her all the way to school everyday and she’s 6 also pushing a 2 year old in a buggy🥲 x

zoeybrooks45 · 06/01/2025 07:48

Hopefully some good news this week guys. It really is worse as the time is coming to an end. xx

JW070116 · 06/01/2025 08:44

Good luck for this week everyone 🤞I officially feel quite sick with anxiety 🤢😅

F2012xx · 06/01/2025 08:57

Sd for MR 15/08, hopefully this week for decision as 21 weeks this week 🤞🤞

Cazzy1984 · 06/01/2025 08:57

Good luck! 🤞🏼 for everyone

Wigswaddis · 06/01/2025 09:00

Good luck 🤞 I’ve just posted off my sons renewal so I’ll have that to stress over once my daughters decision is made. I’m so worried he’ll lose his HRC although nothing with him has changed.

you need to be able to evidence everything on the SMI chart. If your evidence supports all on the chart, I think you’ll be fine! I have 3 children, one who is 18months in a pushchair, then my eldest has a disability buggy. I can’t go anywhere unless I have another adult present unless it’s a car ride A to B that requires no stops🤦🏽‍♀️

has she got an ehcp?

PipB94 · 06/01/2025 09:06

SD 22/8 NC just called and still not assigned to DM yet ☹️

Wigswaddis · 06/01/2025 09:08

It’s getting daft, I’m working from home today and so far in between looking on here and the face book pages I’ve done very little and I started at 7:30 haha. The stress of too much. Scan date 28/08 so I reckon I’m in for another couple of weeks of this.
