Hi everyone, can somebody let me know the address to send in extra evidence? And what’s the quickest way to do it as my scan date is 26/07 so want to make sure it gets scanned on to their system in time? Thanks & congrats on few awards I’ve seen today 😊 x

Disability benefits centre 4
Post handling site 4
Wolverhampton, WV99 1BY

Write child's ref number, name and DOB on every slip of paper, I also numbered the pages to make sure they were in order, and sent via next day delivery by 1pm, tracked and signed for

Also can anybody give me any advice on whether you think I should send this off as additional evidence. This is my sons discharge report from his speech and language therapist. I feel like it does embody some of his struggles with his speech but I don’t want them to look at it as ‘he’s been discharged, he mustn’t be that bad’ because the reason behind him being discharged is that now he is under the care of the school SEN team and his autism diagnosis is under way, the speech therapist thought that they had given him all the support they could and wouldn’t really be able to offer anything further? Any advice would be great, thanks. For context my son is 3 and a half, waiting for autism diagnosis and mostly non verbal x

I don’t pretend to be an expert but I think anything that demonstrates his additional needs which this does, is beneficial. You can always explain why he’s been discharged.

Scan date 12/07. Phoned this morning and no decision yet. She told me to wait for 20 weeks. It's frustrating when their outdated letters state 15 weeks, plus they said they'd marked our claim as urgent 11 days ago.
Seen a 22/08 claim awarded on FB today which is crazy considering some June claims and lots of July claims still waiting

Stillwaiting2 · 18/11/2024 13:00

@ThisHangryOpalEagle I just seen that on fb. It’s crazy how quick other claims are being dealt with. And what order DLA do.
im the 12th August but know I still have a wait.. atleast end of December/ beginning of January

I tried to call after reading that, but bottled it after waiting 10 minutes because I hate making phone calls 🤣

I have seen loads of decisions at 18+5 so I have all my hope riding on Wednesday, I might try to call again then.

Im hoping we hear soon as I literally can’t afford to stay off work any longer without it…

Kimh95 · 18/11/2024 13:22

Tempted to call but at the same time I’m just like what’s the point there only going to tell me to wait the full 20 weeks. Will be 18 weeks on Thursday. Maybe I’ll hold off till then 🙇‍♀️

I think you just need to do a change of circumstances for your child saying they receive DLA and send a journal message saying you’ve been awarded, what rate and asking for it to be backdated to the day you were awarded from because you were not aware of the decision until now.

There may be something different for carers, i can’t remember what I did when I did it, maybe there’s an option on there to say you’re caring for someone, I can have a look if it’s helpful.

On the report a change bit there’s also an option to say you’re caring for someone so you should do that and the child change of circumstances.

Do you know if claiming carers element is worth it if one of you is working full time?

Until I went off to look after the boys I was working full time, carers element gives you an extra nearly £200, that may be reduced due to income but if your UC award is big enough you’ll get something. Basically the more elements you have on your UC the more likely you are to get money from UC. So definitely worth it I think.

Yes, I asked why awards after mine are taking only a few weeks to be awarded and looked at, he said the decision makers are working in date order. That’s all he said. I can only make the assumption some are working faster than others

Danleigh89 · 18/11/2024 14:01
