Just want to say, since I discovered this board in August last year, it helped me enormously! I have name changed several times since to reflect different stages in our situation, so you probably won't recognise me. However, it is so reassuring to be able to chat to people in similar situations. I really would not have the understanding I do, without you guys. Ds is doing well and I have to say much of it is down the confidence and advice this board has given me.

One of the first things I read on here was how you are your child's best advocate. Its really given me the confidence to battle with the many people and situations in our life to get te best for DS.

So, in short, thank you and please keep replying to the many posts on this board, as it means the world to the posters looking for help, advice and sometimes just somewhere to vent.

I love the character of this board, I've never encountered anything but great advice and support. Hope I have been able to offer the same in return. Thanks

Yes, I have had a glass of wine, but wanted to thank you all.

Wilson, I would love it if someone saw me as a beautiful tall slim thing when they think of me Grin
I love this board, it's great. Even in RL sometimes people assume because of my work that I know everything and need less support.
I have met a few SN mn in RL, and they as lovely in RL.

I was very Sad I missed the Friday night thread last night, how sad Wink

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/02/2012 17:56

That's funny Lisad. I imagine that if we all met up in real life it might be a disaster Grin

I know that many posters here have VERY different lives and values from me. Whilst SN is the commonality it works.

But anyway, I'm still planning to post all my spring and summer camping trips in case anyone feels they wanna pop along and share a beer/wine/tea/marshmellow round a fire. Even if you don't wanna camp but I'm in your area and you can get childcare come and see us.......Grin

lisad123 · 04/02/2012 18:00

Let me slm, we love a good camp out Grin
I can see why it might be terrible if we met up, tbh some of you scare me Grin

In RL I am tall, willowy and look a lot younger than my years! Wink

oodlesofdoodles · 04/02/2012 18:27

I would love to meet you all! A lot of the sn mums I've met in RL are either getting fantastic statutory support (?) or seem resigned to the way things are. It's been wonderful to connect with a gang of trouble makers people who never say never.
I dread to think what the prognosis would be for ds without all the advice I've gleaned on here.

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/02/2012 18:29

Probably no-one is a fierce in RL as they come across on here. Certainly I have met one or two 'scary ones' who were pretty normal after all.

And I'm just a hugely pregnant short-arse with eyebrows bushier than strictly necessary and odd socks - always odd socks!

auntevil · 04/02/2012 18:49

And there's me thinking that with a name like McKenzie you would have a very strong west coast of Scotland accent?! Grin

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/02/2012 19:02

Oh no! That's just my porn name......

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 04/02/2012 19:19

My porn name is Pickles St. Helens. Grin

Dustinthewind · 04/02/2012 19:24

I'm just as scary in RL, but with more conniving and sneakiness.
Whatever works best to achieve the goal I'm aiming at when it comes to sn provision.
I talk fast and wave my arms a lot.

WetAugust · 04/02/2012 21:12

Probably no-one is a fierce in RL as they come across on here

Oi! I am Angry

lisad123 · 04/02/2012 21:19

I'm not at all scarcy in RL! Blush

Dustinthewind · 04/02/2012 21:35

Here, I brought my bucket with me. I recall you like red?
Grin
All we need now is vicar and the three witches can ride again.

moosemama · 04/02/2012 21:44

I love this board too! Grin

Whenever 'the professionals' start banging on at me about the NAS and other similar organisations I always tell them that I am a member of the best online SN Support Group available and get all the help and support I need, both practical and emotional from there. I can see them itching to ask me which one it is. Grin

I will admit to being scared of a few posters on here, but only in a kind of 'they are just so blooming knowledgeable and articulate and I am such a numpty' kind of way. Of course it doesn't help that I actually have lost a lot of my 'edge' over the past couple of years and can't actually string a thought, let alone a sentence together these days. Blush

I know for a fact that without this board, my ds1 would be lost and I would be both broken-hearted for him and furious with myself for allowing it to happen. You lot gave me the knowledge and strength to fight for him and doled out a swift kick in the rear when I started to doubt myself and/or give up. (The loaning of steel-capped butt-kicking boots and pointy sticks has also been much appreciated at certain times, as has the Friday night chocolate Wine and gin.) Wink Grin

My dh is probably the only person in RL that thinks I'm scary - which is a pity, because I had a bit of a rep for being quite formidable, with an awesome death-stare in my yoof. Grin

lisad123 · 04/02/2012 21:46

I hope I never scare anyone on here Confused

nenevomito · 04/02/2012 21:50

I love this board too.

I tend only to come here when I am having trouble, but just having somewhere to go where I know there will be support is a life saver Thanks

WetAugust · 04/02/2012 22:42

I can't keep up with your name changes Grin. At least Vic is always Vic. Grin

Dustinthewind · 04/02/2012 22:50

I'll PM you next time. Grin
How's your boy? Mine is having a whale of a time at college doing AS's.

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/02/2012 23:12

Okay, so I know what Lisad looks like, but WetAugust is very purple like a Wet August, and Wlison is definately into horses and wears yellow a lot, and IhateCbeebies is very friendly with most people and bakes her own cakes for school fetes, and zzzzz is/was a management consultant and Ineedalife likes joining up to local courses in various subjects, and I know what Ellen does but she has lovely straight blond hair.....

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/02/2012 23:13

And I have no idea who Dust is....

WetAugust · 04/02/2012 23:18

Dust is the acceptable face of the educational establishment Grin

< crumbs! AS levels already - he'll be on Time Team soon. Mine's just submitted his application for a 2nd Masters degree>

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 04/02/2012 23:23

Shhh, for dust think of the offspring of a goblin-like creature. (And I have lovely, straight light golden brown hair, or so it says on the box.)

Dustinthewind · 04/02/2012 23:25

Well, I know who I am, so that's OK.
Yes, AS levels. Most of which seem to include vast collections of interesting objects. He's got friends too!
Not ready for Uni for a few years yet, but one day. Smile

WetAugust · 04/02/2012 23:30

You've blown it now Ellen - Dust is going to have to change again and then I won't know who she is again Confused.

in fact, I don't know who Ellen was before she was Ellen.

At least Star has stopped morphing on an ourly basis!

< talks to Dust while she's still Dust. Great to hear that he's having a good social life at College. school is definitely the worst period - once they are beyond school it just gets better and better>
