Just want to say, since I discovered this board in August last year, it helped me enormously! I have name changed several times since to reflect different stages in our situation, so you probably won't recognise me. However, it is so reassuring to be able to chat to people in similar situations. I really would not have the understanding I do, without you guys. Ds is doing well and I have to say much of it is down the confidence and advice this board has given me.

One of the first things I read on here was how you are your child's best advocate. Its really given me the confidence to battle with the many people and situations in our life to get te best for DS.

So, in short, thank you and please keep replying to the many posts on this board, as it means the world to the posters looking for help, advice and sometimes just somewhere to vent.

I love the character of this board, I've never encountered anything but great advice and support. Hope I have been able to offer the same in return. Thanks

Yes, I have had a glass of wine, but wanted to thank you all.

I agree, things have been getting better all the time.
You could join vic and me on the demonic FB you know. Smile
I'm going to hang onto this name a bit longer I think, but I'll let you know when I change again. You haven't been around for so long I thought I'd lost you.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 04/02/2012 23:38

I'm actually fairly new, and I've always been Ellen. Blush Just got to my first anniversary. But everyone has been so welcoming I feel like I've been here forever. Don't go changing, dusty, sorry.

WetAugust, you always make me think of Cornwall, um, in August. Grin

WetAugust · 04/02/2012 23:40

I've never got the hang of the FB thing. DS is on it constantly (slagging me off to his friends, when I have a sneaky look).

I'm usually around here or dipping into AIBU or slagging off the EU on Politics Grin

I stay away from Realtionships - never got the hang of those either Grin

Think Amazon. The warrior, not the website!
WA combines huge knowledge of the system with an incredible skill in sapping and blowing up edifices and barriers. A bit like one of those gamecards in Yu-Gi-Oh and the like, where you play the card and everyone else is suddenly stripped of their powers and need to lie down and recover for a week or two. With their ears ringing from the blast.
I am always honoured that she talks to me, because her dislike of most teachers and schools is deep and very intense. I feel very special.

WetAugust · 04/02/2012 23:44

I didn't realsie you'd always been Ellen - sorry. These SN folks are always name-changing, which is quite ironic as we spent most of our posts moaning about how our kids can't handle Change.

Well guess what - some of grown-ups also struggle with it!

Last time I was in Cornwall (in July) it was a gloriously hot, blindinlgy bright day in St Ives.

So I don't understand where the Cornwall connection or the purple thing fits at all Confused

WetAugust · 04/02/2012 23:48

Nah - gilets, Hush puppies and VO5 Firm Hold here.

I think Star would be very corporate.

Dustinthewind · 04/02/2012 23:50

I look like this

Although it's usually a different brew in my pint pot.

WetAugust · 04/02/2012 23:50

LOL Grin Just read your last post Dust

You attribute powers to me that I wish I had Smile

But you are indeed special and not at all representative of your profession.

WetAugust · 04/02/2012 23:52

Aha - you teach at Hogworts Dust?

Dustinthewind · 04/02/2012 23:53
Grin It has been said of me before. Oddly enough the parents don't mind, they usually love their children being in my class.
Dustinthewind · 04/02/2012 23:55

Sorry to everyone else, WA and I have been mates for a looong time.
So I'm rather enjoying finding her again.
On this very special board.

lisad123 · 04/02/2012 23:56

Looks on feeling rather left out and slightly Envy of the close bond Wink

WetAugust · 04/02/2012 23:57

It must be incredibly hard to be surrounded by teachers all day.

You have my sympathy.

WetAugust · 04/02/2012 23:59

Come and join the group hug Lisa.

I thought you were having a weekend away with some SN mums?

Where are you?

< I expect Vic is out nicking some ne'er do wells>

lisad123 · 05/02/2012 00:00

I quite like the teachers I work with, although I'm running a parenting course at the mo, one of them asked me to feed back on how a certain parent was doing. I did have to go an say that I couldnt. Everything is confidential unless it's a child protection issue. Therefore I couldn't tell her anything. Don't think she was used to hearing that!!

lisad123 · 05/02/2012 00:00

Weekend away is a few weeks away yet Sad
I'm in herts

WetAugust · 05/02/2012 00:03

Ah sorry - I thought it was this weekend.

You have my admiration for running parenting courses!

I have always shied away from that sort of stuff.

Much prefer dealings with things than actual beings

Dustinthewind · 05/02/2012 00:05

The people I work with are mostly pretty good, I couldn't stay in a school where the general ethos set my teeth on edge. That is the problem though, schools often attract like-minded people for good or bad.
So in my school, if I said we could do XYZ to make reasonable accommodation for a child, the majority of the rest would say 'Great idea, what can we do to help out?' rather than sneering and saying that the child needed to adapt.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 05/02/2012 00:06

Dolfrog is a man with a plait?!

Dusty has curly hair and wears purple!
Moose is a hippy with flowers in her hair.
Coff33pot lives above a cafe with a view of the sea.
Star is a lot younger than we think.
I know Triggles.
Signandsmile is forced to watch classic Doctor Who.
Ninja was a child bride.
Auntevil is also an evil mother.
Wilson is too fond of Wine
Indigo wears the trousers.
Justa (kiwi) is really clever (and writes really intelligently.)
Justa (enough) knows the sign for twunty bollocks!

lisad123 · 05/02/2012 00:07

I used to do quite a lot but gave up work when dd2 was being dx'ed and shortly after dh was dx'ed. However as things have settled work have asked me back to do buys and bobs. I work with teenagers who has found themselves pregnant and some now have their LO too. The lady that took over got alot of trouble from them so asked me back, which was nice. I also used to work in the community supporti g families which I loved, and before that worked for SS in CP and court team (runs and hides).
I like people, find them amazing which is funny given how much my girls lack social skills Confused
Where are you?

Dustinthewind · 05/02/2012 00:08

Vic is probably stuck in a snowdrift somewhere, she's on nights and it's snowing quite heavily in her corner of the world.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 05/02/2012 00:10

Zzzzz needs sleep and has one DC for each zzzzz.
Lisad is no longer nutty, but is the social story expert.
Devient is truly an enigma.

Dustinthewind · 05/02/2012 00:10

I do wear a lot of purple, sets off the silver hair a treat.
Plus a lot of jingly silver jewellery.
