Alow! Of course

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 19/08/2011 18:29

Ooh, cwtch! Sounds fabulous. Envy

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 19/08/2011 18:30

I was just saying 'alow' to Vera.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 19/08/2011 18:31

You selfish cah, Wilson, whoever you are...

WilsonFrickett · 19/08/2011 18:33

Ellen I was just an ordinary lurker for ages and ages, esp on SN.

WilsonFrickett · 19/08/2011 18:33

And I prefer practical to selfish Grin

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 19/08/2011 18:36

You've probably been here longer than me, then. Grin I'm really quite new but dived straight in.

WilsonFrickett · 19/08/2011 18:41

It was the denial really. Acceptance is a much better place to be. As is freelancing from home to go on MN better support DS.

madwomanintheattic · 19/08/2011 18:42

can someone give me a quick rundown on events purty please? i feel like i've missed something v important on my reduced mn hols!! why has everyone namechanged?

one week of school hols left here and i am ticking off days. it's all new schools for everyone so am slightly anxious but everything is in place. waiting for referral appt from new paed, but no dramas. except i apparently have unexplained blood in my urine and have been giving inconclusive urine samples all blooming week. to be continued next week. so mostly i am peeing in pots. it's a great way to finish off summer!

dd2's additional needs groups have all finished for the summer now, but they have day trip to a theme park next friday, and an ice cream fundraiser (yay!) but we're nearly wrapped. they have been doing awesome things all summer and she's had a whale of a time. moving seems to have worked out really well on that front.

oo, enjoy spaaaaaaa! i just had my hair cut this morning. the new hairdresser parted it on the other side so that she could demonstrate exactly how grey i am. i know she did it to make me book a colour as well. but spaaaa sounds blissful x

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 19/08/2011 18:50

Hi mad. There's been some purple twunty bollocks brigade name changes but many have gone back to normal. Remind me, have you moved house or was it just a school move to a bigger, more experienced school?

moosemama · 19/08/2011 18:55

Evenin' all

Feels like I've been away an absolute age.

I'm also feeling a bit confused and lost with namechanging etc while I was away Madwoman.

Holiday was stressful and not one I'd like to repeat, but on the positive side my dog is out of the woods and completely healed and she had a blast on the beach with the dcs.

Walked to a local park with the dcs this morning and ds1 braved an enormous deathslide/zipwire thing. He was determined to do it, but couldn't climb on the seat, so a lovely boy - about the same age came over and helped without anyone asking him to. He was such a sweetheart, telling ds1 that it was really scary, but really good and explaining the best way to get onto the seat whilst holding it steady for him and giving him and hand up. Gave me a lump in my throat, as he'd obviously picked up that ds1 was a bit different and needed help and encouragement. Ds did indeed manage to stay on the whole distance, but was white as a sheet (with a green tinge) when he got off and looked as if he might throw up any second. Grin He was so proud of himself though, even more so because his brother wouldn't even consider attempting it.

Its lovely to see him trying new things and being brave - so different from the scared anxious little boy we had this time last year. I think the outward bound trip helped a lot, but also sticking with the swimming and finally getting rid of his bully has really built his confidence. In fact, he actually went out to the sandbank on the beach this year, part-wading, part-swimming and this time last year he'd only go in up to just above his knees. He even wanted to go in when it was rough and jump the waves! Smile

madwomanintheattic · 19/08/2011 18:57

huge house/ area move, so all change. Grin terrifying, but seems to be working out ok so far. 6 weeks ago now, but we still have loads of visitors to stay and it's summer etc, so my mn time has been vastly cut... just desperate now for everything to get into proper new routine with school etc.

madwomanintheattic · 19/08/2011 19:00

oh, moose that's lovely! it really makes you well up when you see someone just being kind because they want to, rather than feeling pressured into it, or ignoring a kid struggling... dd2 has been hiking this summer, and i'm chuffed to bits. she's still falling and stuff, but is much braver and keen to get on with it than last year. it's been a couple of years since we've had to use the wheelchair now, so it's great to see changes over time. sometimes you're too close to appreciate the little things, and it's only stuff like a holiday that gives you an opportunity to actually sit back and notice them!

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 19/08/2011 19:04

That's scary, madwoman, but hopefully new schools will be great. It has been a bit quiet on here except for a few fun ding dong threads on AIBU.

Nice to see you back, Moose. Really pleased about your dog. Smile You'll have to add the zip wire story to the happy book boom thread!

Galena · 19/08/2011 19:13

We're full of coughs and colds here - hoping DD's inhalers will keep her out of hospital. We've managed the last 2 chesty colds without admission, so fingers crossed for number 3.

She's doing lots more walking now - walked about 2/3 of a mile last weekend and about 1/4 of a mile today (yes, lots of falling over and it took at least eleventy-three weeks to do each, but she still did it!)

Got so many appointments still to come this summer though - joint orthopaedic/physio/paed clinic, OT assessment, paed, respiratory clinic... the list seems never ending.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 19/08/2011 19:17

Hi Galena. Well done minigal. Do you have to go to the city hospital fir all of these or do they still have them in the town?

madwomanintheattic · 19/08/2011 19:20

galena, how old is dd now? dd2's resp stuff cleared a lot around 4... yay at the walking!

signandsmile · 19/08/2011 19:21

Hi everyone, later back this eve, so you are all in full swing, Grin.

Week been ok, (teaching and marking finished for the yr, phew) tax credits down by 75% for this year(eek!) .less than two weeks to big school, eek eek!!
have pursuaded dh to let me change the living room round. (now need save up money for new flooring and an electrician)

Verahaspurpletwuntypants · 19/08/2011 19:30

Alow :o that was me. I wanted 'allo vera, but it was taken. I joined just before the brigade episode. :)

Sorry was watching torchwood. Now going to backtrack to read this page. :)

moosemama · 19/08/2011 19:34

That's it madwoman - it restores my faith in human kind when I see young people being genuinely sensitive and kind like that. There's always so much bad stuff in the news etc that it can sometimes feel that the world is a very dark place, so its nice to see there are still some beacons of light here and there.

Ellen, I noticed the Happy Boom thread title - will have to go and have a nosey.

Well done minigalena on the walking, but sorry for the coughs and colds - there seems to be a lot more of them about this summer compared to the norm for this time of year.

moosemama · 19/08/2011 19:35

Confused brigade episode? I still feel like I'm missing something. Confused

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 19/08/2011 19:37

More lovely children on the Happy Boom thread. Don't tell me about Torchwood, watching it later on this evening.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 19/08/2011 19:38

Hi moose, I'll have a nosey for you and link, but the main threads were deleted.

Verahaspurpletwuntypants · 19/08/2011 19:42

Although think I might name change again. Any suggestions? Something with Vera in.

Dd2 is having a hearing day! No ears, and joining in with little einsteins. She's still wide awake will be up for another 2 hours yet.
Dd1 is going to grandmas next week. Woo hoo!
And pup is well and truly part of the mad house. You'll never guess what he's called.

Ellen - the nm invasion was probably one of the highlights of my week. Haven't laughed so much in ages.

moosemama · 19/08/2011 19:42

Ta muchly Ellen. [too nosey for my own good emoticon]
