Starting the 2019 support thread for those on SW or those thinking of starting.

Let's introduce ourselves. I'm Groovee. In 2016 I was told to lose weight so I could have Gynae surgery. I joined SW in Jan 2017. Have lost 4.5st on SW 5.5st since 2016. Have been at target for 9 months now. Long may it continue being at target and staying there.

Have my new members pack and look forward to the challenges of 2019. I need to look for some new recipes.

Well done everyone!
I weighed tonight and lost 4.5 which is my best loss ever - am so happy!
1 stone exactly to target
I am going to try really hard again this week which will probably be 2lb
Then I’ve got 3-4 difficult weeks with lots of birthdays meals out n holidays
Would love to get to target before my holiday in June

Studentnursesos12e · 06/03/2019 21:53

Good day today.

D- veggie burger (4.5) asparagus and sweetcorn
T- Chinese boiled rice (free) and curry sauce (?8)

S- krusha milkshake (A+0.5) apples and oranges

Elephantina · 07/03/2019 21:36

Please can I join the thread (before it goes to #2)?

I'm Elephantina, I started SW properly last Saturday (I have dabbled with it in the past but didn't understand how it worked, I do now because I went to a group instead of trying to work it out alone with some old books!!)

I weighed in at 14st 8lbs, target is 11st. This has been week one, so my first weigh in after following the plan is Saturday.

So far it's all going well...I've quickly got the hang of how it works and it's so interesting to see how it challenges your habits straight away. The thought of "formally" weighing in is also keeping me on track - the last time I lost a lot of weight was with WW when I went to group every week. Sadly I moved away, went to a new group which was shit, plateaued, and eventually ate my way back up to 14 stone.

I am hopeful of a decent first week loss, my trousers are definitely looser and I'm peeing like a racehorse so that'll be all the water coming out right?! Grin

Studentnursesos12e · 07/03/2019 22:59

welcome to the group @Elephentina X

Good day on plan today
L- chilli and df cheese
T- df cheese and tomato toastie
9 syns in total.
Lots of apples, oranges and grapes for snacks as well as a pack of quorn ham out of bus stop induced hunger.

Can feel my stomach loosening up a bit so I'm really hoping its going to be a good loss Halo

Groovee · 08/03/2019 05:51

Welcome @Elephantina

There are some such fantastic results here, well done for all the hard work!

I’ve been a little but MIA for a while, checking in on the thread but I haven’t really been putting my back into it recently.

BUT - it’s lent now and I’ve decided to give up sugar in the form of cake, chocolate, sweets, biscuits, puddings, honey, all that kind of thing. I want to stop being tempted by our stash of treats at work, and I want to stop giving into the need for something sweet after dinner. Only been two days but it’s been ok so far! And I’ve actually dropped 3lbs since Wednesday morning, which is a bit of a boost.

So I’m using my syns for nuts and olive oil and the odd drink here and there for the time being. We’ll see how it goes.

OrianaBanana · 08/03/2019 12:41

Well done losers and welcome Elephantina!

What is bosh chilli Student?

I put on 1lb (fair enough) so once again back to it. I was on plan yesterday, I must break this cycle of 1 on 1 off. I don’t even have my half stone award yet! Angry At least I’m not putting on loads of weight though, as I would be if I was totally off plan.

Today was cereal (A and B), mugshot with chicken breast (1 syn) fruit, babybels (A), french fries (4) and then salmon with mash and broad beans and whatever other veg I can find.

Elephantina · 08/03/2019 13:42

I've just eaten the most colossal lunch of spinach and rocket with low fat cottage cheese, salad cream, tuna, and beetroot, all mixed up together into an ugly looking leafy pile of mush. It was awesome, I've counted 2 syns for the reduced fat salad cream.

I feel like I'm eating loads, I had porridge this morning and will have chicken and pasta for dinner...if I can manage it!

No idea what to do when eating out. I had the porridge and honey at Wetherspoons over the weekend, and when I asked on a FB group whether I should simply count all the separate components of it, I got roundly told it was 15 syns because you couldn't be sure if they used the right kind of oats, what kind of milk they used, etc. Confused

Groovee · 08/03/2019 13:43

I'm off to the dr. My back is agony. Can foresee another unfair gain because of my pain and my muscles trying to repair themselves.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 08/03/2019 19:05

I feel massivly bloated today, ibs hasn't been great and I have put a 1lb on (on my scales) since I got weighed a sw on Tues. I've gone over syns today but will knock these off tomorrow. Feel a bit stressed. Hope your back improves soon grove, I suffer with my neck and shoulder alot.

MamaFlintstone · 08/03/2019 20:02

Haven’t been very focused this week. Ended up taking leave to look after poorly DD today so I’ve been snacking more than I should. Roll on weigh in tomorrow to draw a line under it! I’d be thrilled with a maintain.

Elephantina · 08/03/2019 21:12

Sorry to hear about your pain Groovee, did you get to see the doc?

Oh I'm an IBS sufferer too FiveNights - DH put cannellini beans in one of our dishes this week, oooh ma gawd the bloating was agony. I blamed the beans combined with onion, plus all this fibre I'm eating.

How is DD now Mama?

Weigh in early tomorrow, wish me luck!

Studentnursesos12e · 08/03/2019 21:22

@Oriana its actually a veggie recipe but even my meat eating parents and friends like it.
Bosh is just the company who did the recipe. Its like a really smoky and hot but not too hot chilli. So much flavour and syn free. Bosh ultimate chilli is its full name 😂

Another good day. Was sooo tested this morning as I was supposed to have a pelvic Ultrasound but hadnt drank enough water and felt like a naughty school kid! I then walked past six greggs and wanted a veggie sausage roll in every single one. Luckily I didnt cave and got strawbs instead.

B- punnet of strawbs
D- DF cheese toastie
T- boiled rice and veg in black bean sauce (7.5)
S- apples oranges watermelon, krusha (0.5)

A- oatly/koko cheddar B- hovis

8/9 meals til WI

Well done and good luck everyone xxx

Studentnursesos12e · 08/03/2019 21:25

@Elephentina that sw righteousness on the fb is annoying. It's listed at 23 syns. I'd remove 6 syns for heB, and at least 6 syns for heA. So at worst 11 syns, even less probably. Unofficial like but more realistic xx

Groovee · 09/03/2019 10:43

Got stronger pain relief. Hoping things ease.

Elephantina · 09/03/2019 12:49

2.5lbs off for week one! I'm pleased obvs, but can't help but long for those days in my 30's when I could drop 8lbs in week one of any slimming plan. The lady I joined with, who is a good 10 years younger, lost 4.5lbs!

Now I'm 46 and pre-menopausal I guess it's just going to take a bit longer...

Sending DH out for supplies to make KFC chicken fakeaway later.

Hope the new pain relief helps Groovee.

Groovee · 09/03/2019 13:57

Well done @Elephantina that's a great start. I lost 3lbs in my first week but I am 5 and a half stone lighter than I was 3 years ago! So every little adds up.

Pain relief is helping.

Studentnursesos12e · 09/03/2019 17:40

Hope your back feels better soon @Groovee x

Today I shocked myself, I had an apple at breakfast then completely forgot to eat. I was incredibly busy all day, but still. I've never forgot to eat in my life! Shock
Had a big salad from m+s - the santini one. It's really good but at least 6 syns, but I didn't care. 6 syns well spent. Topped it with chilli and coriander soya chunks also m+s which are free.
My evening snacks are my B choice - a wholemeal roll and dew drop grapes, also got some tangerines.

6 meals til WI

good luck to everyone x

OwlinaTree · 09/03/2019 20:46

OwlinaTree · 10/03/2019 09:45

That's good then stranger.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 10/03/2019 11:39

I find them really filling owl I've started just having 1 with a salad now. They are yummy tho.

Groovee · 10/03/2019 17:44

Love those fish cakes.

Just had roast beef with the oxo roasties.

Back still in pain though.

Hello everyone, I've just signed up for SW and it will be nice to have a supportive group to share stuff with!
A couple of friends are or have followed the plan and had lots of success so thought I'd have a go. It looks like there's lots you can eat which is great. I do feel quite grumpy about starting it as diets are rubbish!! However, I would like to lose weight so guess I just need to get over the grumpiness!
I don't have any scales (need to buy some) but I'm a good dress size 14 and want to get back to at least a size 12 if not 10. So I suppose that means losing about 2 stone.
