Starting the 2019 support thread for those on SW or those thinking of starting.

Let's introduce ourselves. I'm Groovee. In 2016 I was told to lose weight so I could have Gynae surgery. I joined SW in Jan 2017. Have lost 4.5st on SW 5.5st since 2016. Have been at target for 9 months now. Long may it continue being at target and staying there.

Have my new members pack and look forward to the challenges of 2019. I need to look for some new recipes.

Banging head today. I want biscuits. I'll have a pear instead, but waaaaaah I need digestives dunked in a cup of tea.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 16/02/2019 20:09

Alemony I'm going to have 3 gullon biscuits (1 syn each) dunked in a biscuit brew. I'm also having some fruit, a pack of crisps, alpen bar, fibre one bar and some liquorice. (I save most of my syns for evening treats).

Groovee · 16/02/2019 20:20

I'm back from my niece's wedding and a visit to Dd at uni. My eating was horrific 🙈

Back again after a brief couple of days chilling lol and I am still the same so no harm done. Hop it doesnt catch up with me next week. If it does Ill just get it off the next.Im quite chilled about it all at the mo.Smile

strangerthongs · 17/02/2019 10:05

stayed the same this week.

again.

seriously getting p*ssed off now. I only have 2lbs til I get the 3 stone mark. I don't know what more I can do....:(

Groovee · 17/02/2019 11:42

I always go back to basics or try new recipes when I'm trying to lose extra. I often find changing my syns works for me too.

Need a bit of encouragement or a good talking to please.
Joined WW in 2012 and lost 7 stone getting to within about 1.5 stone of healthy BMI in 2014.
Maintained that more or less until 2016 when we moved house, too far away to go to original group. WW groups here are not my cup of tea and I’ve gradually put on 3, so now 4.5 stone to lose.
I’ve joined SW and lost 3.5lbs in my first week. Next weigh in is Tuesday and I’ve put on!
I have kept to the programme, apart from Thursday when I went over my Syns by 10 for Valentines Day. I’ve walked/run 15,000 steps every day, including Parkrun yesterday and am drinking at least 2 litres of water a day. Feeling so fed up and hard done by. Thinking of eating all the Curly Wurlys in the fridge and opening a bottle of wine, because what’s the point? Any words of wisdom/comfort gratefully received. I am too old for the gain to be period related.
Thanks for reading.

Your scales may be different and weight fluctuates daily so it's best to just weigh on the scales at class. It really does work but sometimes we get these gains with no explanation then they come off again.

OP posts:
ALemonyPea · 17/02/2019 19:33

Your home scales will be different to the SW ones. Try not to weigh yourself at home and wait until group. Don't give up just yet.

Imperfectsusan · 18/02/2019 09:39

I sometimes think not eating enough at actual mealtimes is my issue. I double checked this yesterday with MFP. I ate cereal and fruit for breakfast, egg salad for lunch and a pork loin steak with vegetables and a couple of tablespoons of brown rice for dinner, followed by blueberries and yogurt.

I was starving in the evening and ate a variety of fruit, quark, 4 syns on chocolate, 3 syns on apple and peanut butter, an options HC (2), a digestive biscuit (4). So 13 syns.

But I had eaten 1700 calories, and without doubt that is over the amount of calories I need to stay the same weight.

I think that if I had eaten more filling main meals eg a hearty soup for lunch, that wouldn't have happened.

GrannyD57 · 18/02/2019 11:26

I know about the scales thing, but I can’t help it! Seriously, my scales usually coincide with the meeting ones, hence my belief they are correct. I will try to step away from them though.
The soup idea is something I’ve tried before but will try again.
Thanks everyone. Have a good week!

ALemonyPea · 18/02/2019 12:29

Forgot to update on the toffee meringues, they were lovely. I had one, DH had the other. Well worth the 5.5 syns. Just a shame they don't freeze.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 18/02/2019 18:45

Imperfect Susan. I've been making a note of my cals on my fitbit just out of curiosity. I set it to loose 2lb a week so I should have 1000 calorie deficit a day. I have had at least 1000 deficit sometimes 500 more 5 days out of 7, both days I was still in deficit (1 day was just as I had a take away but had walked 10 miles so that prob helped) and the other day I was 850 in deficit so not bad. I find it helps me move move more and be aware of what I'm eating. I tend to save most of my syns for a evening. So this evening I'm having cheese, alpen bar, kinder bar (the small one), strawberries with 0% you and mini meringues and I've still got 4 syns spare and after logging this my fitbit says I can still have 368 calories and be in my target of 1000 cal deficit. I'm not saying to do this, as calorie counting and slimming world are totally different I just was curious to see what cals I was eating and it helped motivate me to get of my bum and walk some more. I'm gonna add up what cal deficit I've got later and see if it matches what the scales say tomorrow!

FiveNightsAtMummys · 19/02/2019 12:02

Ok so added up to 8000 cal deficit. But I put 1/2lb on. I'm not counting anything ever again. I've walked for over 12 hours this week too (over 50 miles according to fitbit).

I was too embaressed to stay, I felt humiliated so I went home and cried..I'm doing the self loathing now. Yay.

Groovee · 19/02/2019 12:24

Aww @FiveNightsAtMummys that was me a few weeks ago. Did everything on plan and gained. I stuck with it and it came off again. But it's soul destroying.

Weigh in tonight. Big gain expected post wedding. But back on track now.

OP posts:
OwlinaTree · 19/02/2019 16:58

That's rubbish five, hopefully you'll get a good loss next week. It's always hard when you lose.

I'm not sure what tonight will bring tbh. Didn't go last week, so it's over two weeks. I've stuck to plan 12/14 days, so hoping for a loss, even a small one!

OwlinaTree · 19/02/2019 16:59

Sorry should have said 'it's always hard when you gain!Blush

ALemonyPea · 19/02/2019 18:13

Ah Five, WI like those are so disheartening. Fingers cross you have a loss next WI.

I am predicting a gain on Thursday. I just can't control myself at the weekend and getting very pissed off with myself.

Made a great Chuck it all in concoction tonight. Left over new potatoes, mushrooms, onions and an egg all fried together and topped with cheese. Was lovely with chicken.

Groovee · 19/02/2019 18:17

Gained 3.5lb. Worth it. Still in target though. Need a loss next week.

OP posts:
OwlinaTree · 19/02/2019 20:42

Gained 1.5lb. Was wearing my jeans but even so!

I think I might try another diet tbh. This isn't working for me any more. In two weeks I've stuck to the plan except 1st Saturday had a meal at friends and drinks and second Saturday had a Chinese takeaway. So 12/14 days on plan, didn't use all my syns each day, usually around 10. I would have expected to stay the same, not gain.

I'm just not prepared to stick to a diet that doesn't seem to allow me any ability to have a life. Angry

FiveNightsAtMummys · 19/02/2019 21:34

Thanks all. I feel a bit better now. Used 14.5 syns today and all my healthy extras. Sorry to hear that Owl, it's disheartening isn't it.

JaceLancs · 19/02/2019 23:14

Lost 2 this week so finally got my 5 stone back
I’ve been pretty good food wise this week but far too much gin!
DM still in hospital - my stress levels are through the roof - so don’t see cutting back on the alcohol is going to happen anytime soon
A Few people have said how great I look and can’t understand why I want to lose more!
I’m still over a stone away from target and even when I get there might lower target further

ALemonyPea · 20/02/2019 06:32

Well done Jace.

How disheartening Owl. Which diet were you thinking of doing?

OwlinaTree · 20/02/2019 09:15

I don't know lemony, clearly I'm still eating too much on this one! I hate calorie counting though.

I wondered about trying some fasting days in the week, then sticking to SW on the other days. That might then make up for having meals out etc.

OwlinaTree · 20/02/2019 09:33

I suppose I could try SP? My breakfasts and lunches on a work day are already SP friendly.
