Starting the 2019 support thread for those on SW or those thinking of starting.

Let's introduce ourselves. I'm Groovee. In 2016 I was told to lose weight so I could have Gynae surgery. I joined SW in Jan 2017. Have lost 4.5st on SW 5.5st since 2016. Have been at target for 9 months now. Long may it continue being at target and staying there.

Have my new members pack and look forward to the challenges of 2019. I need to look for some new recipes.

That should say still in range in the first sentence, sorry.

noodlenosefraggle · 15/01/2019 22:56

I tried that. It's not too bad, but not the same as Heinz. You may as well eat Heinz tomato soup now though, as the syns are lower than they were Smile

Yearofthemum · 15/01/2019 23:00

Grover, Leomypea, thank you. Grovee, do you think part of it might be the extra A?

Tobermory · 15/01/2019 23:43

WI tonight and it’s 3.5 lbs off. So that’s half my Christmas excess gone... hurray! I’ve been super on it this week and upped excercise, run three times and felt very positive... and v focused. So if I hadn’t lost then there’s no hope!

I picked up my new pack last week but still not had time time sit and get my head round the changes.
Can anyone summarise ?!

Groovee · 16/01/2019 06:06

Well done @OwlinaTree and @Tobermory

@Yearofthemum no I don't think so as on the target plan you get 2a's and 2b's anyway, dh thinks I need a 💩

Just been to group. 2lb off. Phewww!
Though I had vegetable soup for dinner last night and didn't eat anything this morning, so maybe I'm just tricking the scales. Lol

ALemonyPea · 16/01/2019 10:02

Well done losers.

I tried the Heinz soup once as people at my group were raving about it. It tasted nothing like Heinz tomato soup. I'd rather have the real thing and syn it. There are some bonkers tweak recipes out there.

Yearofthemum · 16/01/2019 10:32

😄.
All bran original (not flakes) . A sackful of fibre per portion and works every time! Tastes like shredded cardboard, but I don't mind it.

boats16 · 16/01/2019 12:18

Well done OwlinaTree and Tobermory and 2LittleCubs* Smile I hope I do as well when my turn comes round.

2LittleCubs · 16/01/2019 12:35

Thanks boats. Fingers crossed for you 😊

Groovee · 16/01/2019 13:17

I use all bran like overnight oats. Very tasty.

Im having the SW char sui pork for tea. I havent tried all the meals. Anyone had this and know what its like ?

HazelnutRaspberryRoulade · 16/01/2019 16:12

2.5lbs off for me today! Well done for all these losses! And never mind @groovee, sometimes bodies are weird aren’t they? I’m sure next week it’ll be a loss for you.

I’m off to Wagamama for dinner tonight, does anyone know the syns for the salads there? Particularly the pad Thai salad? The nutritional info looks fairly good on the website so fingers crossed...

ALemonyPea · 16/01/2019 16:25

Just checked the syns, using calculator and using chicken as the main ingredient, and says 10 syns. I'm assuming that's for any oils for cooking and the dressings. Not bad actually. I love Wagamama, DH and I go maybe three times a year, and I definitely don't stick to plan.

boats16 · 16/01/2019 16:31

How many syns in chicken and sweetcorn mugshot/snackpot now things have changed ?

HazelnutRaspberryRoulade · 16/01/2019 16:32

Thanks @lemony! That’s not too bad, and it really is lush food. I know the steak and shiitake salad used to be 2 syns, not sure if that’s still the case but it’s a genuinely delicious dish even if it’s a bit more now.

2LittleCubs · 16/01/2019 16:33

Is there any difference between the rices?? I know the packet rice is synned, but for dry rice is there any difference between whole grain, long grain etc? Not in terms of syns, but are any actually better for you?

Groovee · 16/01/2019 16:47

@2LittleCubs I have red rice as it's higher in fibre.

OP posts:
shecamefromgreece · 16/01/2019 16:50

Well done all the losers!
Cubs I try and have wholegrain as I tell myself it healthier and fills me up more, in reality I'm not sureGrin

I've been weighing myself this week (I know I know..) and was quite happy with my loss, then last night I made myself an on plan pasta with pot roasted beef in tomato sauce, my god my stomach last night so windy (sorry tmi), sore and bloated. I got in the scales this morning and I've put 1.5lbs on from the day before!! My body obviously doesn't know it's weigh in day today grrrrrr...
Sorry rant over it's just so annoyingAngryAngry

I really don't think pasta agrees with me anymore, which could be problematic as I'm from an Italian family, I already don't eat cheese I think if I say no pasta either they will disown meGrin

2LittleCubs · 16/01/2019 16:58

Thanks grovee and shecomesfromgreece.
Yea, see I was thinking maybe the higher the fibre, the easier it might pass through (Sorry 🙈). I daren't touch a carb the night before my weigh in. But obviously we all need carbs in our diet, so I was thinking the whole grains might be far better?

boats16 · 16/01/2019 17:05

Well done HazelnutRaspberryRoulade. I dont think I will lose that much ,Im a 1lb sort of girl lol. It took me ages to get my weight off. Ive only put a stone of it back on so I can take my time. Good job !!!

Woopwoop1 · 16/01/2019 17:10

Well done losers and well done those who didn’t lose but haven’t given up! It’s so easy to feel despondent when you have been good but the scales don’t show it.

I have lost 2lbs this week. Got to keep on it!

Yearofthemum · 16/01/2019 17:21

Half a pound off. Better than nothing and better than I deserved!

Grovee, I might try that recipe. Never knew it was a thing.

boats16 · 16/01/2019 17:58

Well done Woopwoop Smile

ALemonyPea · 16/01/2019 20:08

Didn't even think to look at the syns online. Probably too late, but here is the syns for salads at Wagamama. Might have to go and have one.
