Starting the 2019 support thread for those on SW or those thinking of starting.

Let's introduce ourselves. I'm Groovee. In 2016 I was told to lose weight so I could have Gynae surgery. I joined SW in Jan 2017. Have lost 4.5st on SW 5.5st since 2016. Have been at target for 9 months now. Long may it continue being at target and staying there.

Have my new members pack and look forward to the challenges of 2019. I need to look for some new recipes.

Welcome Jenny and any other newbies I may have missed.

Brilliant losses, Violet & Trinity! I feel a bit like you, Yearofthemum, our lad went back to uni last Friday so I've got fewer tempting foods around.
I've had cystitis type symptoms since Sunday so I'm feeling sorry for myself. I've got a practice nurse appointment later this afternoon.

Was at a funeral yesterday so went to WI this morning. I've STS, possibly because of the cranberry juice I've been drinking.

I found a nice soup in M&S. It is really filling and 6 syns for the whole tub (300g) Half a tub is plenty, so 3 syns a portion.

Wecome Jennywallpaper. I am doing it from home and also lost 2 stone last year. I stopped when I went on holiday and never picked it back up but now Ive booked this years hol I want to do it again. I was a little disappointed when I lost because my bingo wings went flappy so it upset me. I am toning arms this time as well.My weigh day is friday, Whens yours ??? Flowers

Jennywallpaper · 15/01/2019 12:35

Thank you @latedecember1963 and @boats16. I usually weigh on a Friday too but I'm thinking maybe I should change to Wednesday just because I'm starting with the pt tomorrow. I have bingo wings too and big legs so I'm hoping with exercise I can loose weight on them and tone them up.
Just had a ham salad for lunch, and planning on making a cottage pie for dinner.

Groovee · 15/01/2019 12:50

Welcome @Jennywallpaper

Ah @Yearofthemum we all have times like that. Just draw the line now.

Weigh in for me tonight. I never know how I will do.

Thank you @Groovee
@FiveNightsAtMummys that's fantastic, I hope I can loose that quickly! I'm sure you will reach target in no time. Smile

boats16 · 15/01/2019 13:13

Well done@ FiveNightsAtMummys Smile
Good luck @ Groovee
Just had bacon medallions, egg and hoops for lunch.Really filled me up.Its the weeks where I try to be good that I get disappointed . Isnt it funny how that happens ? Confused

FiveNightsAtMummys · 15/01/2019 13:37

Thank you! I was really careful with my syns this week had 30 odd for the whole week. Thw week before I had a take away (off plan) and used more syns and lost 3lb!! So I think for me not using my syns doesn't get me any quicker loss. I've heard a couple of people say that too.

ALemonyPea · 15/01/2019 13:54

Well done losers.

Yearofthemum, take it a meal at a time, don't be so hard on yourself. Shit happens, you just need to be able to move on, otherwise you'll not get back on it. Good luck.

Five, you should have at least 5 syns a day, don't deprive yourself of a treat. I usually have a packet of pufts a day for 3.5 syns, the rest goes on salad dressings/sauces etc.

I bought some Kellogg's granola, that's a B choice. Measured 35g out, and it was about 2 mouthfuls. No way am I wasting my B choice on something that's not going to fill me. Annoyed I've wasted my money on it.

2LittleCubs · 15/01/2019 14:01

Hi guys. Another newbie here. I've had one weigh in so far this year and I'd lost 3lb. I weighed myself this morning at home and I'm the same weight. This is pretty frustrating as I have been pretty strict with the plan.
Hopefully the slimming world scales will tell me something different tomorrow 🤞

boats16 · 15/01/2019 14:07

' ALemony , you dont get much do you. I thought that. I tried to compensate by adding fruit on top.But I havent had more than one bowl as it doesnt fill you up at all. Nice though.Could we add more and have 35g HEA + syns for the extra ?

ALemonyPea · 15/01/2019 15:19

I'm not synning a B choice. I'll just have something different. I'm quite liking the seeded bagel thins when I can get a hold of them.

2littlecubs, your home
Scales may be different to the SW ones. Mine are 1/2lbs different, so don't give up just yet.

boats16 · 15/01/2019 15:59

My friend has worried me by saying that all my meals, fruit, veg etc shouldn,t exceed the amount of calories I need for the day or this will cause me to put on weight. Am I supposed to count cals too ? or can I have as many as I want ? I was enjoying my meals but am I eating too much ?

shecamefromgreece · 15/01/2019 16:13

Boats just ignore lots of people like to give advice, the only thing i will say is make sure one third of your plate is veg it's really important because it will automatically reduce the amount of calories you are consuming but apart from that eat away!!Grin

Groovee · 15/01/2019 16:23

@boats16 ignore the calories. It's not how SW works.

@ALemonyPea that's a huge disappointment. Alpen do a flavoured version which I found good mixed with yoghurt.

@2LittleCubs Only get weighed at SW. My friend has a habit of weighing on her scales then refusing to come when she has a gain.

@FiveNightsAtMummys 🎉🎉🎉🙌🏻go you x

Re eating Syns. I've always found I needed around 10 syns to lose a day. Dunno why but it's how my body works.

OP posts:
boats16 · 15/01/2019 16:52

Thanks Groovee and@shecamefromgreece Thats what I thought. I never bothered with them before because its not SW like you say.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 15/01/2019 16:57

Thanks guys. It wasn't done intentional for part of the week I just didn't feel like them but then I did try to carry on for last couple of days. I'm making sure I use more of them this week. Having lasenga for tea but I only had a 250g mince pack (for me and dh who east large portions) so I added extra onion and grated 2 carrots and I've ended up with too much now! Anyway I've used cottage cheese for the white sauce and my HEA for the cheese on top. Going to use kingsmil thins , spray with fry light and garlic see if I can make it taste garlic bread-y.
My ibs has flared up this evening so glad it's after weigh in!

HazelnutRaspberryRoulade · 15/01/2019 18:06

@alemonypea yes I totally agree on the Kellogg’s granola. I really love it layered with yogurt and frozen blueberries, goes a bit cheesecakey after a few hours, but I do wish it was a bigger portion. Maybe a way to use up what you already have though Smile

Groovee · 15/01/2019 18:19

Had a 2.5lb gain this week

OP posts:
2LittleCubs · 15/01/2019 19:33

Grovee, tomorrow starts a new week 😊💪

ALemonyPea · 15/01/2019 19:34

Oh no Groovee, are you still in range though? I'm sure you'll have that off quickly, you're doing so well.

I think I'll have it while I'm recovering form my op, won't be on plan 100% but it'll not be jam on toast.

boats16 · 15/01/2019 20:09

Im sure that will come off next week. As long as youre still on target.

Groovee · 15/01/2019 21:01

Still in range but such a big gain despite being 100% on my route A.

Will see how next week goes.

OP posts:
OwlinaTree · 15/01/2019 22:48

That's a shame groovee, glad you are still in take though.

3.5lb off for me this week! I was like thisShock. I'm guessing it's more like 2.5lb in reality as I'd had tea before I went last week but didn't have time this week so had just had a cuppa and some ryvita and cottage cheese.

Still half a lb above target range though so had to do the walk of shame and go back and pay. Stayed to group again, was a laugh. They were talking about making Heinz tomato soup taste a like with pickled onions and baked beans. Anyone tried this recipe?
