Starting the 2019 support thread for those on SW or those thinking of starting.

Let's introduce ourselves. I'm Groovee. In 2016 I was told to lose weight so I could have Gynae surgery. I joined SW in Jan 2017. Have lost 4.5st on SW 5.5st since 2016. Have been at target for 9 months now. Long may it continue being at target and staying there.

Have my new members pack and look forward to the challenges of 2019. I need to look for some new recipes.

Hello @ CarmonEileen. Theres lots of speed foods to choose from. I printed off a list from my laptop myself to remind of them all, theres so many lol

CarmonEileen · 13/01/2019 15:33

Hi @Groovee i like carrots, green beans and broccoli, that's about it Blush my eating habits were appalling, I'd not think twice about having a full pepperoni pizza to myself for my tea. Today I have eaten a 2 egg ommlete with 4 slices of wafer thin ham an apple and a satzuma.
I was thinking of having the SW breakfast for tea, I bought the sausages in Iceland yesterday after my first WI with bacon (fat removed) baked beans and a few small potatoes and an egg. (I think eggs will be my new friends haha)
Hi @boats yes I'm just looking in the book now, there's more than i thought.

Groovee · 13/01/2019 15:51

That's ok, you can easily get speed fruits in. I often eat fruit with my scrambled eggs.

Tonight's tea for my is pitta pizza (using both healthy extras), it's got mushroom, red onion and peppers on. I'm having it with a salad which includes lettuce, grated carrot, cabbage, cucumber, radish and tomatoes and 1/2 syn worth of balsamic dressing. I've got some greek yogurt to use up for dessert which I'll prob bit a 2 syn flake in crumbled up and rest of my milk allowance for my other healthy a.

I'm the same I'm always full so I expect to gain or maintain but apart from 1lb at Christmas I've lossed every week, I really love it.

Well done stranger thongs - I love that name!

Good visual Groove I know pasta is free but i try to have small portion as I know it had so much more calories than say courgetti. I prefer courgetti and spiralised carrot now with things like bolognaise etc.

Groovee · 13/01/2019 19:15

I've been weighing for 2 years and honestly never know how the scales will go. For example last week felt it was going to be a gain or maintain but it was 2lb loss!

Was on plan all week until Thursday when I had one too many gins and kopparberg. Then Friday all I had was an on plan sandwich but drank beer and vodka... back on plan since yesterday and today I really hope I lose something it's my first week!

OwlinaTree · 13/01/2019 22:48

Hi all. Well done losers! Been a rather boring but busy weekend here. DH has been ill all last week and is just recovering, so doing most of the house stuff and kids stuff really. Have stayed on plan, even had boring jacket potato with beans for lunch twice this weekend... Can't stop trumping nowGrin

I've woken up with a head ache every day this week except this morning. I'm wondering if that's the sugar withdrawal or whether it's a touch of the virus my DH has. Has any one else had headaches when starting/getting back on track?

ALemonyPea · 14/01/2019 06:57

I get headaches, think it's the cutting back on Coke Zero rather than the sugar though.

Windiepanda2018 · 14/01/2019 08:12

I've had headaches and I think it's from lack of sugar haha

Out for a meal tomorrow night going for Thai trying to figure out what is the least syns usually have chicken pad Thai or Thai red curry thinking might cancel to save on ruining the week Confused

boats16 · 14/01/2019 11:36

If I have no Light Primula in for a receipe can I use light dairylea as a soft cheese substitute Does anyone know ?????

ALemonyPea · 14/01/2019 13:32

I've no idea about Thai food. If I'm eating out somewhere like that I'd avoid anything battered, tempura, crumbed or creamy.

What you making Boats? I think Dairylea and Primula have a different consistency.

boats16 · 14/01/2019 14:16

I know what you mean @ ALemony Im attempting the ' Chicken Alfredo ' in the Jan/Feb issue of slimming world . It looks delicious but my local Asda is out of stock of light primula. Any suggestions ? It says extra light soft cheese.

ALemonyPea · 14/01/2019 17:40

You could use quark so be syn free, or light philly.

Groovee · 14/01/2019 18:02

I'd use philly lightest over dairylea.

So first weigh in and I lost 5lb!!!
I was hoping for a couple of lb ...I was so pleased I nearly cried! Felling very proud of myself - everyone said I was mad stopping smoking and trying to loose weight but I'm determined to make a full lifestyle change!

ALemonyPea · 14/01/2019 18:40

Well done Violet!

boats16 · 14/01/2019 18:52

Well done Violet Smile Well, I made my alfredo and it was a success. I found some primula in the cupboard. I,ll have to freeze some because I cant eat all that even though it says 1 serving !!!! Thanks @ ALemony for your advice though

Groovee · 14/01/2019 19:00

Well done @VioletMcRobins

Well done trinitybleu Flowers

OwlinaTree · 14/01/2019 21:30

Great losses violet and trinity! I'm weighing in tomorrow, I'll be interested to see if I've lost and how much. I've been properly on plan all week so hoping for something!

Trying new yogurts tonight, now Mullers are synned there's no reason to stick to those so this week I'm trying activia 0% fat as they are half a syn and on offer in Morrisons. I've got cherry and raspberry to try, hopefully they will be good.

All of slimming world shop in my Morrisons! There was no skyr yoghurt, no fat free Greek yoghurt, no quark, hardly any cooked chicken. I'm expecting mega offers on Muller lights soon as slimming world all stop buying them! What have the shelves been like at your local shops?

Yearofthemum · 15/01/2019 07:14

Im not having a brilliant week and not looking forward to weigh in . Two birthdays, a bit post Christmas and leftovers. A celebration before DS we t back to uni. Weigh in is tomorrow (Wednesday).

I have had such a good autumn. I regained so much over Christmas I think it has knocked me off track, a bit.

Jennywallpaper · 15/01/2019 09:39

Hi can I join please?! I'm following slimming world from home, so any help and advice would be much appreciated. I started in jan 16 and managed to loose 2 stone, I'm a slow looser but I don't mind that. I've been off plan for about 6 months and have gained a stone, so I'm back eating well and I'm going for my first pt session tomorrow! I'm hoping to shift the stone I gained and another on top of that! Good luck to anyone weighing today Smile
