Starting the 2019 support thread for those on SW or those thinking of starting.

Let's introduce ourselves. I'm Groovee. In 2016 I was told to lose weight so I could have Gynae surgery. I joined SW in Jan 2017. Have lost 4.5st on SW 5.5st since 2016. Have been at target for 9 months now. Long may it continue being at target and staying there.

Have my new members pack and look forward to the challenges of 2019. I need to look for some new recipes.

Yeah I've opted to make a SW curry and will have a few extra syns but just on choccie hehe

Groovee · 12/01/2019 17:58

I have a 120g bar of caramel beside me. It's been there a week. I actually don't know if I want it.

I've just realised I need to have syns and 2 HEB's. Tried to get the ryvita rice cakes but nowhere had them in stock.

Well done.@ Windiepanda Cake lol

Windiepanda2018 · 12/01/2019 18:18

Thank you @boats16

I've got a 10 month old baba and I keep forgetting that I can't eat her left overs 😂

ALemonyPea · 12/01/2019 18:57

another day, another SW is crap thread in MN. Why do they never have the same about WW?

Windie, well done on the loss.

My SW club is next to a Costa, so I get a medium hot chocolate with hazelnut syrup for after WI. I count the milk as my A choice, but don't syn the rest. If I don't have that, I have a little Lindt bar, the finger ones. It's never affected my weight the following week, and helps keep me grounded.

Had a Chinese feast for tea tonight. DH made hot and sour soup and I made chicken in black bean sauce with egg fried rice. 7 syns for the lot, and that's just from oil, honey and cornflour. Very filling.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 12/01/2019 19:48

Well done Windie!! I usually feel motivated after weigh in so don't have a treat meal or anything then...BUT a few times at the weekend when my partners had a take away I've had a couple to slices of pizza and a salad and sometimes made sw chips. Where as b4 slimming world I'd easily eat most of a full pizza AND a box of fries!

This week I've been really good not used more than 5 syns each day but today I've told myself I can use all my syns as my treat, not sure if I will or not but it's nice to be able to whilst keeping on plan.

shecamefromgreece · 12/01/2019 19:59

Well done windie.
I've come to conclusion that I just can't get sugary things from my diet and when I try to I end up binging.
So I've been and stocked up on some low sun chocolate treats and I'm just going to build them in to my eating.
This time of night is my weak time, I can have been in plan 100% all day then bugger things up (like last night!)
Can I just ask are you meant to stick to 10 syns on an sp day now?

shecamefromgreece · 12/01/2019 19:59

*cut sugary things

Groovee · 12/01/2019 20:00

@ALemonyPea it's always SW probably fired up by that Richie guy. My friend who has maintained her 10st weight loss on SW for 7 years says they are always blue peter wanna be's on the threads.

I just made rainbow shaped baked oats. I got the silicone mould months ago.

Had a roast tonight which was good.

@shecamefromgreece yes 10 syns on an SP day now x

Windiepanda2018 · 12/01/2019 20:39

Nights are the worst when you just want a cuppa and some chocolate hehe

Yeah 10syns on an SP day

My consultant said that there was a guy who lost like 7 stone and he used to save all his syns for pints at the weekends with his mates as he didn't want them to know he was on a diet haha

shecamefromgreece · 12/01/2019 21:27

Thanks grooveeSmile
Omg just found my new evening treat
Fibre one chic brownie (4.5)
With mini pit of custard (2) heated in the microwave for 30 secs.
Really really good it's a proper pudding!

VioletMcRobins · 12/01/2019 21:58

Hi all ... can I join you? Sttarted SW for the second time on Monday. I lost just over 2 stone 2 years ago, starting 2019 with that 2 stone back on plus an extra 1 Blush

Hoping to loose 4st10 altogether. Got off to a really good start but I also stopped smoking on 1st January and struggling a bit today. Realistically hoping for a couple of lbs off this week... at least I shouldn't have put anything on. Smile

boats16 · 12/01/2019 22:14

Welcome @ Violet Smile

JaceLancs · 12/01/2019 22:24

Joining in
I lost 2 stone by having to go gluten free a few years back
Joined SW 2 years ago and had lost a further 5 stone, however since a holiday and Xmas/new year I’m 6lb away from that
I’m 1 stone 9lb off target but when I get there may lower it
I’m a very slow loser maybe because I’ve been at it so long now
That said I never achieved the big losses others seem to especially early on
My main struggle is I enjoy more than a few drinks........chocolate is another trigger

WineNotTea · 12/01/2019 22:35

Gah, I’ve had a bloody bottle of prosecco this evening, it’s been in the fridge since before Christmas, what is wrong with me!
Thankfully I’ve only had 5 syns per day all week so the damage may be minimal on Monday evening.
Alcohol is always my downfall!

strangerthongs · 13/01/2019 09:53

wow I lost 3lbs this week. I always think I'll gain or STS and then I end up surprised. I love this diet!

Groovee · 13/01/2019 11:42

Well done @strangerthongs

Well done @ strangerthongs Flowers

prettyrobot · 13/01/2019 14:27

Hi all, can I join too 😀
I usually do low carb diets (dukan/keto), but am hoping that if I do SW SP I can stop having to cook a million different meals for my family of 6 and reduce the food bill as well as my tummy!
Need to lose 3 stone by July ideally. I find the idea of eating pasta on a diet truly alarming, but I am going to try!

ALemonyPea · 13/01/2019 14:39

Welcome newbies, and well done on the loss Thongs.

Lazy Sunday here today. Should really go for a walk buts it's lovely and cosy indoors, and windy cold out.

boats16 · 13/01/2019 14:40

Wecome @ prettyrobot . I lost nearly 2 st last year before my hols and only stopped because I wanted to, so you can do it too Smile

Groovee · 13/01/2019 14:47

Welcome @prettyrobot. I started in January 2017 and by June 2017 had lost 3st so it is doable.

A good visual is this one.

Hello! May I join you all please. I joined my first SW group yesterday, I have a huge amount of weight to lose, I am reading through all of the booklets and trying to meal plan etc.
I'm not a veg lover (hence needing SW) and don't like mushrooms or tomatoes, do you think I'm going to struggle with filling my plate with speed foods? I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Groovee · 13/01/2019 15:15

Welcome @CarmonEileen. What veg do you like?
