Starting the 2019 support thread for those on SW or those thinking of starting.

Let's introduce ourselves. I'm Groovee. In 2016 I was told to lose weight so I could have Gynae surgery. I joined SW in Jan 2017. Have lost 4.5st on SW 5.5st since 2016. Have been at target for 9 months now. Long may it continue being at target and staying there.

Have my new members pack and look forward to the challenges of 2019. I need to look for some new recipes.

Just off to wash my hair and shave everything Grin

FiveNightsAtMummys · 10/01/2019 09:05

Good luck WTF99 let us know how you do.
I'm thinking of making the fakeaway kebab but can't find 5% lamb, I've been told it's just as nice with 5%beef. Going to have it with salad and maybe sw chip's.

Oh the sw burgers are nice! I haven't tried any ready meals so can't comment but these are lovely.

Windiepanda2018 · 10/01/2019 09:12

I've just joined SW first weigh in on Saturday feel like I'm eating too much!! Ending most days on 15syns 😂😂 will see what Saturday brings however I am sticking to the plan just don't normally eat 3 proper meals a day and slimming world is making me do this.

emwithme · 10/01/2019 09:54

Gained a lb, but not surprised. Am hideously sleep deprived and the only way I'm getting through the cluster feeding is biscuits and chocolate.

The weight will come off though, hopefully once we're through this growth spurt (onesies that fit yesterday do not fit today) things will be a bit easier.

boats16 · 10/01/2019 13:47

Im weighing myself tomorrow morning.Have to admit Im a bit nervous. Always weigh myself on a fri morning so I can enjoy the weekend and relax.Wine

Mymadworld · 10/01/2019 14:33

@WTF99 I'd normally go for a nice steak, Boulanger potatoes in lieu of dauphinois (layered thinly sliced potato and onion slow baked in chicken stock instead of cream - still delicious) with some decent greens.

Groovee · 10/01/2019 14:40

@WTF99 Paprika Pork is a favourite of mine for a nice dinner.

Windiepanda syns help me stop going off track so if you need to use them, use them, you'll probably find some days you hardly need any. Last week I needed alot of mine, this week I've used 8 so far (2days). My consultant always says remember you can use 5-15 syns if you need too, it's not a target. That made me laugh!

WTF99 · 10/01/2019 19:32

So....only one and a half off....wish it was a bit more as it's my first week but I think my body has forgotten how to lose weight as I've got older!
I think it's going to be a marathon rather than a sprint for me.

Still....it's in the right direction isn't it.
Thanks for dinner recommendations x

FiveNightsAtMummys · 10/01/2019 19:43

Well done WTF99 that's just over 5.5 stone a year! I try to remember that when I have a smaller loss. You might get a bigger loss next week, so much can affect your weight mine can fluctuate quite a few pounds in a day! Make sure you take measurements if you haven't already.

boats16 · 10/01/2019 19:47

Well done @WTF99. 1 and 1/2 is a good loss. Not too much, not a tiny bit. I would be pleased with that. I hope I get that tomorrow Smile

ALemonyPea · 10/01/2019 20:24

A whopping 8.5lb off 😱totally delighted.

Well done everyone else on the losses

Mymadworld, those potatoes sound yummy! Might have to try them.

I made this last week, was delicious and can be made SW friendly. Do it in the slow cooker, so no need oil, use lean cuts of meat, and syn the chorizo, or don't add it to your portion, will make it syn free.

ALemonyPea · 10/01/2019 20:25

Em, I'm always in awe of anyone doing a diet before their baby is 6 months. Don't fret the small gains, you're still adapting to new life as a mam 💐

boats16 · 10/01/2019 20:34

Well done @ ALemony. It will take me ages to lose all that lolGrin Grin

WTF99 · 10/01/2019 21:39

Thanks for the encouragement boats and fivenights
Lemony that's fantastic!
I needed a sweet hit tonight so just had 2 meringue nests with 0% fat natural yoghurt and raspberries....5 syns ....delish....that's all my syns for today.

Notcoolmum · 11/01/2019 07:31

Hello everyone.

I’m new to the thread but have been doing SW for almost a year. I lost 37lbs between Feb and November and reached target. Since then I put in a bit including an amazing 2lbs over Xmas and new year and was at the top of my target.

I have always believed in the plan and been confident I could amazed my target this year and lose more.

So I happily started back on plan this week and restarted c25k confidently predicting a 3lb weight loss. Only today is WI and I have put on 4lbs. How?! I have been on plan all week, Estes the same foods I would normally eat on plan, counting my syns and exercising. I’m now only 28lbs from where I started. And my confidence in the plan has been shaken.

Has this ever happened to any of you? I have a Modena coil sondknr think it’s hormonal. I do need a #2 but that usually counts for 1lb. Could it be my body holding onto the calories or water retention? Should I forget about SW and calorie count instead?

I’m such an advocate of SW this has really shaken me :(

boats16 · 11/01/2019 08:43

Lost 2lb.!!!!!! Grin Im over the moon. I like it to come off slow and steady.
@ Notcoolmum. I would carry on and see what next week brings. I am like a seesaw.Next week hardly anything, followed by a big loss again the week after. I have also had weeks where Ive put on and I too get down.if youve done it before you know it works so try a bit longer

Notcoolmum · 11/01/2019 09:08

Thanks boasts and well done on your weight loss.

I have never experienced this before and I really believed in the plan. I’m just going to stick with it this week and hope it rights itself. If not I will have to think how else to lose weight. But I have loved being on SW and part of a fabulous group so I hope it’s just a weird blip.

ALemonyPea · 11/01/2019 10:29

Well done Boats.

Don't give up hope, Notcoolmum, it may be hormonal, it may show next week. I've had weeks where I've been great and gained, it's disheartening, but you know the plan works, you can do it.

Groovee · 11/01/2019 14:11

Hi @Notcoolmum I know it's disheartening when unexpected things happen in the scales. I'd recommend staying on it. I had an unexpected gain one week, so I mixed up my syns and healthy extras and lost 3.5lb the following week. I reckoned it was hormonal too. I did leave so upset and the consultant had a long chat with me and that left me feeling motivated to kick it's butt and I did.

I've found my target journey quite hard going. But I'm nearly 10 months in and getting there now.

Well done all losers. Lemony, I think we should all move in with you!
WTF99, when I'm disappointed in a loss I remind myself that each 1/2 lb is equivalent to a block of Lurpack butter.

I had a curry last night for Ds2's last night at home and didn't enjoy it, apart from the rice and poppadoms. Think my tastes have changed because I was really conscious of the oily taste which I haven't noticed before.

Ds1 has very kindly driven Ds2 back to uni so I've avoided service station food and drinks. Going to make mushroom risotto and salad for tea.

shecamefromgreece · 11/01/2019 17:56

I made a really nice dinner tonight.
Jerk chicken, rice and peas, sweet potato wedges and spinach, cucumber and mango salad with lime.
I will definitely make it again it had two syns in but worth it!
