Lost half a pound this week so I was pleased no damage was done! How is everyone else doing?

kaitlinktm · 24/01/2019 17:20

well done on your loss Solina - quite impressive really considering you had a bad day!

I didn't go this week I'm afraid - it was snowing and I live up a hill, I always get very nervous driving in the snow, especially when I have to go to work in the afternoon - what if I don't make it back up the hill to get my stuff?

Anyway, you know I tend not to do well if I have a week off, so am a bit dreading next week!

Must keep focus, must keep focus ...

LouLou789 · 24/01/2019 18:17

Well done Solina!

kaitlinktm I don’t blame you; I am scared of going anywhere in snow and ice. Good luck with the focus.

I forgot to get weighed this morning, as we have a few days off this week. Have been sticking to plan, except for too much wine!

In the spirit of noticing positives, however, I went to the cinema today and fitted into the (standard) seat very easily! We had booked posh seats for more room for me (as usual) but I tried out the ordinary ones while I was there!

LouLou789 · 25/01/2019 07:58

And I got weighed this morning and there’s another pound gone. 26lb down 😃

MummatoaMunchkin · 25/01/2019 20:49

Hellllooo! Back again!

This time it wasnt through choice, my phone died the blue screen of death and i lost all my passwords so couldn't access anything! And had to wait for a mew phone! So thats been fun!

Anyway in the two weeks since i rejoined i lost 1.5lbs so not great but i know what i am doing wrong (sleep deprivation and binges) so working on it!

Hope you are all good!

Elisha2004 · 26/01/2019 07:27

Hi all Smile
Thought I would join the chat, I restarted SW 3 weeks ago and so far lost 5lb. My weigh days are Saturday and I'm a bit gutted I've not lost today Confused I've stuck to plan and also use nutra check to count my calories so don't go over too much on free foods.
Any advice please?

toddle · 26/01/2019 21:16

Weigh day, 3.5lb off this week.

PQuite shocked haven't managed any exercise this week with the snow. No chance I could do the couch to 5k and have had to rely on lifts to school instead of biking the paths have been so icy!

toddle · 26/01/2019 21:18

@Elisha2004 hi! Try not to lose motivation this week you may be shocked next week on the scales when your body has caught up with yourself.

Other then that did you weigh in usual clothes? Forgot to take your shoes off maybe? X

kaitlinktm · 26/01/2019 21:52

Sad Had chocolate tonight - Mum was over for tea, oh dear ... not that Mum was over but that I had chocolate. Must make sure to have a fresh start tomorrow.

Sparkles07 · 28/01/2019 13:36

Hello! I joined SW last week. I've successfully lost a few stone with them before, but it's all gone back on and them some more.
I weighed in last week at 21st 6lb. I can't imagine what ,my life would be like if I lost the 10 stone to get to healthy range, I've been big since I was a teen.

LouLou789 · 28/01/2019 14:05

Welcome along, Elisha and Sparkles 😀

Sparkles, I’m sure you’ll start to notice an improvement in things with even the loss of a stone, never mind 10!

How’s everyone getting along? The skin on my tummy is going all crepey so I know I’m doing okay (yuk)

Any weigh-in reports?

MummatoaMunchkin · 28/01/2019 20:07

Welcome @Elisha2004 and @Sparkles07 😊

@kaitlinktm the chocolate might not do too much harm?

@LouLou789 Dont think of it as yuk think of it as a sign of how well you are doing?

I have been a nightmare, i dont know what wrong with me, im just eating all the bad stuff. Very sure i will have gained at weigh in tomorrow!

But our weekly shop came today and theres sooo much fruit, my lunch tomorrow is mostly fruit! So back on it!

LouLou789 · 28/01/2019 20:20

That’s it, Mumma, straight back on it, if the scales aren’t too kind this week, then they will be next week!

I don’t mind my crepey bit, it will soon smooth out once my skin realised there’s less to cover 😀

kaitlinktm · 29/01/2019 21:02

1.5lb off for me today - that's over 2 weeks though - but I am still pleased because of the chocolate etc.

Difficult commute today - and probably tomorrow too - because of the snow. I wonder if the stress burns up extra calories? Grin

Good luck everyone!

toddle · 02/02/2019 12:44

3lb off this morning.

At what point did you all start to feel any slimmer/healthier?

LouLou789 · 02/02/2019 13:42

Well done kaitlinktm and Toddle!

I’ve put on this week, which was sooo depressing but sure it’s the wine from our week off. No point in thinking “sod It” and having a blow-out, will keep on with plan and see how I go next time.

Toddle, I’ve noticed a lot of difference in how I feel (have lost almost two stone) but the only person who has noticed a difference in my appearance is my eldest son. If a person who had a total of two stone to lose managed to lose half a stone then that would make a significant difference to them but for me, with my amount of timber, it took well over a stone before I started feeling it. My idea of writing down every positive I notice has been very helpful.

Kaitlinktm, have you had much snow this time?

kaitlinktm · 02/02/2019 15:22

Lou - glad to hear your positive attitude. I think we have to accept there will be weeks we gain or maintain, but it's the keeping going which will make us succeed.

I have been at this point - a few pounds shy of the 3 stone loss mark - for ages now, but I Must. Not. Give. Up. In the past I have given up and then it's just the beginning of the end.

A fair amount of snow - my commute on Tuesday was horrendous and I had to walk up the hill to school as the car wouldn't have got up it. What with my extra poundage and pathetic level of fitness - it took ages as I kept having to stop to get my breath back. Then when I got in the all said "Oh we didn't think you'd be able to get in" - but I had phoned saying I was setting out! Grr.

Still that bit of a walk must have done me good - if only I could have the discipline to walk regularly!

MummatoaMunchkin · 02/02/2019 20:08

Hey ladies i hope you are all well! I maintained this week so i am happy as i was convinced i had gained!!

toddle · 02/02/2019 21:11

I'm impressed with your positive thinking. It's been my down fall many times before.

Completely get what you mean about someone with 2 stone to lose will notice half a stone. Just really hoping I stick at it. Dp isn't making it easy at all. Always suggesting takeaways, cakes, buying crap, going for dinner which I don't mind I can chose on. Plan ish but then he wants a bloody sharing starter for something like 9336 syns I presume!

Impressive to be walking up a hill full stop never mind in the snow!

kaitlinktm · 02/02/2019 21:22

Believe me Toddle, you wouldn't have been impressed if you had seen me.

What is the matter with your DP? Do you think he is resentful of you trying to lose weight - is he overweight or not? I don't understand why people try to sabotage other people's weight loss. If you were a recovering alcoholic, would he offer you a drink? If you were giving up smoking, would he offer you a fag? Food is my addiction but nobody seems to think of it in that way because we can't actually completely give it up.

Grr - sorry, rant over - as you were! Blush

LouLou789 · 02/02/2019 22:04

Interesting re possible sabotage. I have a “friend” whom I never tell if I’m trying to lose weight because she tries to interfere, She’s quite chunky but not a fatty like me. I have noticed that ALL her friends are larger than her, and I mentioned this once, as it was obvious to me that she chose them for that reason...whoops, the truth hurts. The irony is that I’m a happy person with lots going on, just want to improve my mobility and health by losing a considerable amount of weight, whereas she’s evidently very discontented.

I’m sorry you’re feeling not quite supported by DP, Toddle, you definitely have support here 😀

Kaitlinktm, you did so well with the hill. I can walk only a very short distance but an already really pleasantly surprised at the improvement. Imagine trying to do that hill before you lost almost 3 stone. Wow!

MummatoaMunchkin · 02/02/2019 22:32

Theres alot to be said about addiction, my husband and i always find the money for naughty food but then dont have enough money to buy a pair of socks!

Its just too easy to get the naughty stuff! Im always suggesting take aways and my husband is like oh go on then!

@kaitlinktm 3st is amazing!! Dont give up your doing so well!

Also true about addiction and the fact you cant give up food. I never thought of it like that!

kaitlinktm · 02/02/2019 22:50

I haven't lost 3st yet Mumma - I keep hovering on the 2.75 and then gaining again - but I will do.

Yes I have often thought of it as an addiction. My ex (and I have been divorced over 15 years now) was a smoker, but he never considered my weight to be the same level of addiction, it was just that I was greedy, that's all and that I didn't exercise enough. How many times have you heard that? "Losing weight is straight-forward Kaitlin, you just have to eat less and move more. You're just too greedy and lazy. Smoking is different, it is an addiction to a substance, food isn't an addiction ... blah blah blah".

My weight was partly why he left - he just didn't think I was attractive any more. I won't say what a turn off his nicotine-stained fingers were as well as the eau de ashtray which pervaded his clothes and himself. I do know smokers now but honestly none of them pong as much as he did - but hey, it was an addiction, not just being greedy like me you see.

Anyway, I realise that this is the Slimming World forum, not relationships but it just drives me mad when we struggle so much and it is just dismissed as being easy - if we weren't such greedy pigs! Angry That is why I find threads like this so helpful.

LouLou789 · 03/02/2019 07:38

Kaitlin, I don’t think it’s off-topic at all. Losing weight isn’t just about what we do or don’t eat, it’s also about understanding the why of things. If we can really fathom that out, that will help us change. And I’m interested in what motivates us to change, ie who/what are we doing it for? And what drives us to overeat/eat the wrong things, well yes that’s an addiction or compulsive behaviour.

Eek, that’s all very deep for a Sunday morning. Hope you all have an enjoyable day Smile

FlopsyMopsyRabbit · 03/02/2019 07:46

Hi everyone 👋🏻

I hope you don't mind if I join in?

I've lost 2st 13.5lbs in the past 28 weeks. I still have another 3 stone to target.

I started at 17st7 and am now 14st 7.5 and my target is 11st 7. I've been doing it from home since July with a second hand book and a special SW Instagram account but 2 weeks ago I bought online membership 😊
