Hello can I join please?

Lapsed gold member returningBlush I lost my weight (just under 4st) in 2014 and maintained for nearly 2 years. Unfortunately earlier this year I had to stop exercising due to injury which I struggled with and my diet went to pot & I've gained about 1.5stone Sad. I've recovered and gradually increasing my exercise but the weight isn't shifting (exercise only ever helped me maintain not lose) so coming back to Sw seems the obvious thing to do.

Decided to start today but turns out the meeting has moved to a Tuesday so can't officially weigh-in until then. I could do with refreshing my memory of the speed/super speed foods and all the HE but remember enough to manage a couple of days plus old habits die hard and I still do things like measure my milk, have a small sw friendly loaf in the freezer, make super speed soup etc so it's just cutting out all the rubbish and naughty extras that have been creeping in over the past few months!
Today I'm having:

B: fried mushrooms & courgettes & egg on 1 w/meal loaf. White coffee milk from HEA
L: super speed soup & satsuma
D: roast veg, couscous & grilled mackerel plus plain yogurt & berries
Snack: Alpen light bar (hope these are still a HEB I relied on them for my evening sweet treat!), pear & Apple
Syncs: cappuccino with unknown milk (ff I think) -5?

Looking forward to chatting with you all as we shed the pounds Smile
TGR
Ps how much do weekly meetings cost nowadays?

thisgirlrides · 23/10/2017 14:35

@RhinoGirl Huntsman Pie is pretty good - can't remember the actual recipe as I make it up now but it's mince, onions, mushrooms, celery, carrots fried, season, mixed herb, teaspoon of marmite, beef stock and a good splash of Worcestershire Sauce cooked down (I like it cooked low in the oven for 2-3 hours or slow cooker would also work well) then mix in a tin of baked beans, top with thinly sliced potato & grated cheddar cheese (syn or HEA) and bake for 45-50 mins or until potato is cooked through.

Thanks @Groovee I’ll grab a copy Smile

NightOfTheDeadXmasFairy · 23/10/2017 22:15

Day 1 of my 5 day damage control is done!
B - cherry muller, plum and grapes.
L - (pinch of non) Mediterranean chicken orzo, kale, leeks and sprouts
D - mugshot, Apple
Others - Apple, grapes, Light & free yogurt, cheese (HEA) on toast (5), Curly wurly (6), turkey nugget (2)
Fluid - 2 litres water, 2 black coffees, green tea

Not as much speed as I would have liked, mainly due to laziness but also I feel like shite 😴🤒🤧

Groovee · 23/10/2017 22:19

Hope you feel better @NightOfTheDeadXmasFairy

I’ve just done my 6 week measurements... over 42 weeks I have lost 30 inches!

Thanks for the pizza tips. I'm going to have to give them a go. I looked up for the syns of my usual pizza, it was 60!!! 60!!!!! Oh boy will i think twice about having that again.

I'm not really sure what to expect from the scales tomorrow. I've had one day completely off plan, two days fully on plan, two SP days and two ok until I eat pizza days.

RhinoGirl · 23/10/2017 22:35

Had my day back to front today! DD had a bad night, went back to bed with her at 6.30am, fell asleep and before I knew it it’s 9.30am! So by the time we were up and dressed etc, its nearly lunch time! Tucked into a massivd tuna salad, had lean steak with slimming world chips (forgot how much i like them!), 2 hours later i had my ‘breakfast’ a bowl of fruit & yog and my HEB of 2 hifi bars! Feeling good about today :)

RhinoGirl · 23/10/2017 22:36

Lean steak chips and salad for tea that should say*!

ChocolateAddict93 · 24/10/2017 01:11

Hi everyone!

First time Slimming World-er here. Just joined Sunday because I'm sick of trying every milk shake and fad diet going, losing it then piling it all back on and more! I'm hoping a real food diet will keep me focused and stop me losing interest.

I joined with the online membership because the thought of going to group meetings/weigh ins terrifies me! Does anybody else do the online membership and find that they still stay motivated without somebody else weighing you?

Groovee · 24/10/2017 07:58

Welcome @ChocolateAddict93 x

Hi chocolate! To answer your question - I've attempted Slimming World without membership before. Personally it didn't work for me as I need the accountability of the group - and (this is such a bizzare reason) I live in a converted flat in an old house and I really struggled to find a consistent place to weigh! I can weigh +- half a stone depending on where I am in the flat 😂 so I threw out my scales and decided to commit to the meetings. I'm only on week 2 but it's going better than previous attempts.

That said that was without any support - I've never done the online membership so I don't know what resources they have on there, I'm guessing it's the same as what group members get? I'm finding the syn calculator really valuable.

RhinoGirl · 24/10/2017 13:01

My cousin is coming to see me and has offered to buy me a KFC! 😩 quick look at syns online... a rice box is 10.5 syns, that’s my syns for the day pretty much but atleast I don’t feel like i’m missing out I suppose! Extra speed for tea too...

amusedbush · 24/10/2017 13:27

I'm weighing at group but honestly, I hate the class and haven't stayed in about six weeks. I don't miss it. I've been motivated and have stuck to the plan just as well whether I stay or not.

I'm actually considering switching to the online plan.

I've tried every local class and different leader available but I just can't bear all the clapping and singing the praises of Muller Light and Quark for an hour BlushGrin

Groovee · 24/10/2017 14:55

Tried these last night. They were 4.5 syns and very tasty. Currently £1 in asda for 5 packs.

Ooh groovee they look lovely - I'm always wary of buying stuff in multipack though, don't trust myself not to polish off the lot Blush same reason I buy 175ml bottles of wine

Got very excited earlier today when I discovered syn free pizza made with bread mix for HexB: basementbakehouse.com/2016/04/syn-free-hexb-pizza-slimming-world/

I've already flagged it to DP that this is going to have to happen in the next few days Grin

Flutterby81 · 24/10/2017 18:21

They look nice might have to pop into asda this week Smile

Groovee · 24/10/2017 19:42

Gained 1lb... usual 4 weekly gain 😡 it’s only been since my surgery.

The carrot cake hifi bars are lovely. Got my comfort collection recipe book from my countdown. Will try some recipes from it.

Weigh-in 11st7 which is pretty much what I feared. I'd love to lose a stone before Christmas so first target is down to 11stone in 4 weeks so 20th November with another (slightly unrealistic ambitious) in the 4 weeks to Christmas. To be honest I'll be happy getting to 10stone something as it's this last half stone that I've really noticed in my clothes, face etc Sad

Today:
B: Mushroom & spinach omelette
L: at the swimming pool with dc so jacket with beans & plain salad
D: mackerel with orange salad & horseradish dressing (lovely recipe if you google) with sw chips & FF yogurt
Snacks: banana, satsuma & melon
Syns (not counted yet but can't be over) 1 square dark chocolate & piece of dc's homemade fudge
HEA: skimmed milk, HEB: 1 Alpen light bar

Suzanna301 · 24/10/2017 20:49

Hey all ..

Joined SW last week - rejoining after a blip in July was a member for 3 weeks lost 8lbs and then gave up ☹️ so back on it . More determined than ever . First weigh in last night lost 5lbs delighted but really want to keep focused . Stressing about it all tho, so unhappy in myself due to the weight gain. Fingers crossed I can stick to it , plan is stone before Christmas ..

Well done to everyone who has lost 💪🏻

Groovee · 24/10/2017 21:53

It’s week 42 for me on SW. And 16 month’s since I was told I was too large for surgery. Just wanted to share how keeping on plan can really work and show the difference x

Evening! I've do jacket potatoes the slow cooker - easier to leave them to their own devices in there when the oven is full! I cook 4 medium potatoes usually. Rub the outside with oil (spritz with FL for SW) and pinch of salt and pepper all over and wrap in foil. Dash of water in the bottom of the cooker and cooked them on low for 8hours on work days and 5ish on high at the weekends when we have guests for the evening - one less thing to think about :)

I've had an average week. I think it's those extra syns that slip in when you dont plan - using fibre allowance for toast and then realising that an alpen light would be better to munch than a biscuit with tea - I didn't bother with the biscuit. And I drink a fair amount of tea so that cuts into milk allowance without thinking. I'm on green tea with slices of fresh ginger and a tablet sweetener at the moment, so good.

Stupid question I know.... Can I split my Hex on half..? Like half milk half cheese on pasta for example, or do I have to stick to one or the other. Thank you!

thisgirlrides · 24/10/2017 22:30

Wow @Groovee massive change you look great well done

thisgirlrides · 24/10/2017 22:32

@Jo2217 I’ve always split my HEB as I like to save either a hi fi bar or alien light for treat and have either 1 weetabix or 1 piece of small loaf bread. Never done it with HEA but I’m sure the principle is the same as long as you measure carefully

thisgirlrides · 24/10/2017 22:33

Alpen not alien Wink
