Hello all I haven't joined in for ages but have been lurking around. It's so nice to see how everyone is doing.
I lost two stones last year managed to keep it off over xmas but am struggling to get get back in the groove. I still have at least another two stones to go maybe more tbh and despite feeling I'm being good I'm probably not!
I have also bought my own very accurate scales and keep weighing myself every day- not sure whether this is a good thing really
I'm going to get back on plan from right now!!!! And this thread is really going to help

laurieloo30 · 25/01/2017 22:27

Thank you for the tips.

I feel disgusted with myself that I have done it. Determined to have a good sp only day tomorrow. Fingers crossed my slip tonight doesn't ruin the week.

Well done faith that's awesome!!

Groovee · 25/01/2017 22:28

Welcome back PA. Lemony glad you are back too.

Welcome to everyone who ha joined us.

LavenderRains · 25/01/2017 22:33

PA it's just a shame it's so expensive for you to get to the mainland. Grandson sounds like he's doing well. I work in nnu icu, the babies never cease to amaze me. Tiny scraps born at 24 weeks going home before their due dates. I'm humbled by the parents ability to cope with the roller coaster of emotions they go through.

I've sort of over celebrated my 3 stone lossBlush a tad too much chocolate me thinks. My belly feels very gurgly now.
No syns tomorrow! !

OwlinaTree · 25/01/2017 22:34

Well done losers! margot, could you do a couple of sp days this week to counteract the events? Or keep syns round 5 on the other days ?

MargotsDevil · 25/01/2017 22:44

Owlina yes I'm going to make sure I keep the syns mega low tomorrow/Sunday/Monday - think I'm just a bit unsure that I will be able to estimate with any accuracy exactly what I've eaten that's off plan cause I'm still learning! Fingers crossed that low syn days will balance it out!

Groovee · 25/01/2017 23:29

Made bacon, mushroom and pea pasta from pinch of nom tonight. It was lovely x

Hi everyone
I've been lurking for a while - getting support from you all and now I want to join in and perhaps offer some support back!

Myself and my OH started on 2nd Jan. He goes to group and I'm just joining in. My working and commuting day is long and I can't get to group. So far my OH has lost 8lb. So I must be heading in the right direction too. I have no idea how much I weigh but I have a lot to lose!
OH is a good cook so dinners have been yummy. I'm bad and don't eat breakfast or lunch. I use my hexa for tea/ coffee during the day and will eat the fruit provided at work. Ok - cathartic part over!

I cooked chicken fakeaway type thing tonight. Chicken breast with seasoned cous cous coating. It may be a tweak but it tasted amazing!!!! After porky lights it's my favourite thing so far.

Question - eating all this moist food makes me wee at least twice during the night. Anyone else? I really hate having to get up and disturbing my sleep.

Positiveattitude - my son was born at 28 weeks. I know that is a good gestation for a premie and he is now just fine. Like it never happened. NICU is scary, the whole journey is scary. I wish you all the best and lots of virtual support xxxxx

SpaghettiMeatballs · 26/01/2017 07:20

No motivation here. Lost 1lb so that's 5.5lb for the month of January. That isn't even the 6lb I put on in December.

I've calculated at my current rate it will take until July to lose 2 stone. I will stick with it for the 3 months online membership I paid for but I am disappointed with my results.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm sticking to the diet which means I've had very little / no alcohol, crisps, biscuits, cakes, cheese etc. I've cut out all snacks and just have 3 SW plan meals per day.

I could move more but that is hard when it's as cold as it has been but I've still got a walk in everyday.

Just moaning really. Sorry. Blush

Going to try cuting out all pasta this week as I've had a 40g portion twice this week.

FaithAgain · 26/01/2017 07:46

Spaghetti it could well be that you need to reduce carbs. My group leader does say that although carbs are 'unlimited' if your weight loss slows down, you may have to reduce your carbs.

Thanks laurie! I'm delighted with my progress.

PA hope and pray things improve soon Flowers

Groovee · 26/01/2017 07:55

Spaghetti, try some S&P days where you have all speed and protein.

SpaghettiMeatballs · 26/01/2017 09:32

I'm not being negative faith because I'm going to follow your suggestion and reduce carbs but it's less weight loss slowing down and more that it has never been good! 5.5lb is my total loss.

I have something I'm looking forward to first weekend in March and I was hoping I might have lost 1 stone by then. Never mind. I need to shift the weight so I've got to stick with it even if it's slow going.

Thanks grovee I think I need to try that. I do have a fondness for plain zero yoghurt so maybe I'm having too much of that too.

I'm disappointed with the online service. I don't feel I really understand SP days in the way group members do.

Going to bake biscuits with DS today. Will need a lot of will power.

BasinHaircut · 26/01/2017 09:39

groovee that dinner looks lovely. Will look that recipe up.

pardalis I wee several times at night anyway, I'm not sure I'd notice the difference!

spag how frustrating. Yeah maybe some SP days?

I made the mistake of weighing myself this morning and it got me worried. I genuinely have no idea how my scales match up to the SW scales though and the battery in them is going so really they are probably not that reliable right now.

I lost a pound last week doing what I'm doing though so I am carrying on as I am until the SW scales tell me it's not working. If DH wasn't doing it at home and needing the scales I would seriously consider binning them.

WhoKn0wsWhereTheTimeG0es · 26/01/2017 09:42

Spaghetti - I cancelled my online membership in December as it was so poor, I felt I knew what I was doing by then so I'm logging on Fitbit and following this thread for support. I have only lost just over a stone since I started in Sept but I'm going in the right direction, can feel the difference and developing better habits that I think will last which has never been the case with previous weight loss attempts. I need to lose about 4 more stone. Don't lose heart.

00100001 · 26/01/2017 10:09

Hello,

DH and I joined SW on Monday :)

randomer · 26/01/2017 10:14

spaghetti....that is nearlt half a stone plus a half stone you could have so easily gained......so its like a stone really!!

Its so hard and slow. not had a good week at all.

Frouby · 26/01/2017 10:22

It is sometimes slow. I lost 2.2 stone from May to end of November tho in 1lbs. I do find that my loss is better if I only have carbs once a day in a meal. So I have soup or salad or my b choice for lunch, then potatoes or pasta or rice for tea. I also only really snack on speed foods or use my B choice. Free food is free and to be enjoyed but if you are having enough speed with meals you shouldn't need a lot of free food for snacking.

I find if I put speed on my plate first I put less free food on too. So if we are having pasta and salad I put a big portion of salad on first then the pasta. Rather than put out the pasta I want then squash some salad on. Same with a sunday dinner. So veg first then anything else.

Really look at your plate. I see lots of photos on our fb page where the speed is clearly an afterthought.

Todays plan

B. Coffee
L. Probably hifi bars. Am out and about
T. Mayflower chicken curry, stir fry veg and egg fried rice.

randomer · 26/01/2017 10:27

frouby not wishing to cause bother...but that seems very little food? I guess I would lose on that but I would be soon swinging back into comfort eating.

TheImprobableGirl · 26/01/2017 10:43

Had the most disappointing recipe disaster yesterday :( I tried the lasagne from slimming eats I thing- god it was grim! The mince part wasn't so bad but Christ knows what I did- the pasta was hard and crispy on top, inedible further down, the quark and egg mix tasted like mouse sick and to top it all off I'm badly intolerant to a protein found in a lot of lactose products, and apparently this is also in quark 🤢 DISASTER.

Moving on: yesterday was on plan mostly!
B- tea and a banana
S- NikNaks.... and dd's half pack of niknaks! (10syns counted)
L- baked potato with beans, mixed salad, cucumber and two babybel light (HEA with milk in tea)
S- melon fingers and 2xhifi (HEB)
D- disaster lasagne, 4 syns of mozzarella

Total 14syns

Today's plan is to reign in the syns a bit- aiming for about 6 due to poppadoms.
B- eggs, 2 bacon medallions, 1 piece baby wholemeal toast (1/2HEB)
S- will be fruit
L- pasta salad, with chopped tomatoes
S- my last hifi :(
D- slow cooker chicken jalfrezi, with chickpeas, peppers and mushrooms, served with spinach and maybe courgette spirals? Debating Bombay potatoes but not sure if I can be bothered! 3 poppadoms = 6 syns
Tea and milk HEA

Total 6 syns

Frouby · 26/01/2017 10:47

I never eat breakfast Randomer. I just drink coffee. And lunch is usually something proper. I dont really have a big appetite, god knows why I am fat! And I don't really snack or pick at stuff either.

I was tracking for a couple of weeks on mfp and I usually have 1000-1200 cals a day. But today is a lighter day because I won't be at home at lunchtime and cba to make a salad or something and am outside (waiting for vet for pony) so can't really buy anything.

Groovee · 26/01/2017 11:24

I'm having a flare up from fibromyalgia. Trying to keep busy, so have made soup for me and Dd, quiche for dh and thinking about doing baked oats like a traybake.

SpaghettiMeatballs · 26/01/2017 11:29

Thank you for the sympathy and advice! It's helping to hear of people who lost weight over a longer period of time. I don't feel there is anything I can do but keep going with it despite the lack of pace.

Going to readjust my March 'target' to 11lb which will mean losing another 5.5lb in Feb.

I won't be renewing online whoknows I agree re this thread and MFP.

randomer · 26/01/2017 11:34

we are totally surrounded by food and temptation and our bodies want that stuff.....so well done to all who lose anything !

LavenderRains · 26/01/2017 12:19

I need to reign in the syns today. Had a headache and feel sluggish today after my franky and benny feast and overdose on chocolate yesterday.
Today's plan;
B; Cup of tea
D; beans on toast with grated cheese (hex a and b)
T; cottage pie with swede instead of mash and some veg
will try and keep syns to a hiFi bar tonight.
Got some mango cubes out of the freezer for snacking.

Whoever mentioned peeing loads. Yes I do!! I think it's calmed down a bit but the first 6-8 weeks I spent a lot of time on the loo!

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 26/01/2017 13:23

Just out of my first meeting! Feeling invigorated and ready for the challenge! Bit despondent at my starting weight, significantly higher than I had ever thought it was Angrybut actually feeling positive that I'm now doing something about it! Target: 4st to lose! Shock

Consultant seems lovely, was friendly and welcoming, and I actually knew two or three people already there which was a nice surprise!

Have done a mini food shop to get through the rest of the day (SW hash browns, beans and bacon for lunch, chicken, rice and veg for dinner!) and will do a big food shop tomorrow!

Will be scrolling through the amazing looking dishes posted on here to get inspiration while I write my shopping list/meal plan later today!
