Hi all. WI this morning and lost 3 lbs. I'm bloody amazed/ecstatic. Did nothing different to the last two weeks when I lost nothing, then half a pound. Bodies are fucking weird. still didn't get SOTW though cos some cowbag (who is actually really nice which makes it worse) lost four

Now only 2.5 lbs to target but it's DH's birthday on Monday, and we've both got Friday and Monday off work so are going out for dinner both days. I am not predicting a loss next week Grin (it's due to be shark week, too) but it's worth it. I've got 3 weeks left on my countdown so hopefully will still get to target before the end of it.

Half a pound on. Not entirely unexpected but I'm blaming the tonsillitis I had this week! One silver lining is that when I do eventually get to target I'll be able to more or less maintain fairly well!

RedHouses · 27/10/2016 20:22

Hi everyone, do you mind if I join in? I joined last night. I've done SW before but it was a fair few years ago. I have about 3st to lose (have already lost 3 on my own through calorie counting).

I am just doing a meal plan so I can do a big shop tomorrow. What 'essentials' do you all usually buy? I shop at Aldi or Morrisons if that helps.

Also I'm really struggling with lunches. I am in college 3 days a week and don't have access to anywhere to heat food or store stuff to keep cold. I don't really eat bread either! I usually get a Morrisons meal deal but can't really keep doing that as it's not very SW friendly Grin

Would love some advice if anyone doesn't mind!

dannyglick · 27/10/2016 20:34

Hello, RedHouses, buy a lunch-size coolbag while you're in the supermarket, for taking salads with meat, pasta, couscous, etc to college.

MoomooMummy01 · 27/10/2016 20:47

Hi everyone!!

I'm about to join classes again on Saturday morning...I've done SW before post separation from my ex husband and lost 3 stone! I'm getting married again in Greece next May and would like to lose as much as I can before then!
I'm a busy working mum of 3 (10,7,4) and guilty of putting everyone before myself and grabbing something convienient when everyone else is sorted!!

Scorbus · 27/10/2016 21:25

Half a pound off at WI tonight. Got my stone award, 1/4 of the way to target!

DooWhop · 27/10/2016 21:43

Can I ask, do all your groups have weigh in then happy clapping then over?

It's reminded me how much I hated sw last time. I much prefer the sw pls but the ww meetings!

RedHouses · 27/10/2016 21:50

Yes we have the clapping too. I forgot how tedious it is!!

FaithAscending · 27/10/2016 22:15

The happy clapping makes me laugh!

Well done scorbus! Smile

OwlinaTree · 27/10/2016 22:52

Well done scorbus. I lost half a lb this week too, it was my birthday so that's OK, but I'm finding it hard to be interested in sticking to the plan this week after only a small loss.

Hoping for a better loss this week. I must look out for those meringues, I love meringues!

AnnaForbes · 27/10/2016 22:54

Well done Scorbus, i was hoping for mine this week but didn't quite make it.

I bought some scanbran. Apart from Ferrero rocher, what's nice?

MollyRedskirts · 27/10/2016 22:58

Hello, remember me? Will you have me back?

I did a silly, silly thing. After doing a week of SP and being told in meeting by the stand in consultant that I should have got better results, I threw my toys out of the pram and... joined Weight Watchers.

OMG. I have never been so hungry in my life. I lost 5lbs but I think I've put it all back on again after I fell off the wagon. I'm going to weigh at home in the morning, then see where I'm at.

Stupidly, I have a Weight Watchers membership until Christmas. I doubt they'll refund me and I'm going to feel so daft if I go back to Slimming World meetings while technically being a Weight Watchers member too.

So, that is my tale of stupidity and woe. Will you forgive me? Grin

AnnaForbes · 27/10/2016 22:58

Owlina, I lost half too. It's a bit demoralising isn't it if you have actually stuck to the plan. I had to suffer the sympathy of the group and some helpful suggestions to speed my losses up. frozen curlywurly anyone?

Scorbus · 27/10/2016 23:24

A loss is still a loss in my book! Our weight can fluctuate depending on time of the month etc so I'm happy with any loss each week.

littlepooch · 27/10/2016 23:38

Wow well done to all the losers! So encouraging to read all your results as a new member.

thisismadness77 · 27/10/2016 23:40

I got to target this week. :)

user1470771898 · 27/10/2016 23:43

May I ask MN advice please? And can't work out how to name change, so am 1898.

Second meeting at SW this evening. Recently diagnosed with cancer, in and out of hospital appointments, surgery etc. and asked the leader to Not read my result out.

In the meeting...

Leader: '1898 lost 3 lb. She's missed a lot of classes, and is recently back. How do you feel? How much do you want to lose next week?'

Me: 'Fine thank you. Anything would be good.'

Leader: 'Well you'd be better setting a target. Would you Really be happy with only 1/2 loss? Shall we increase it to - say - 2 lb as you've missed so many classes? Can you tell us why you've missed so many classes?'

I didn't really feel like telling 30 strangers that I had/have cancer, but she kept pushing, and I ended up sounding very rude by just saying it was personal and I'd like to keep it personal.

My questions are:

Are all classes run like this - the poor people who'd put on weight were supposed to explain in front of 30 near enough strangers why they were failures, and I (and possibly others) who'd asked to not be mentioned, were mentioned, and why did the leader feel it necessary to mention three times that I'd missed a lot of classes and try to push me to 'open up' to a group of strangers?

Any advice (including flaming!) appreciated.

AnnaForbes · 28/10/2016 00:34

User, your group leader sounds really insensitive. Good leaders should pick up quickly on those who don't want to say much and move on to those that do (alway plenty of chatty people waiting to speak in my experience).

If you told her not to read your result of, she should absolutely respect that. if you're not happy there, Is there another local group you can try instead? I had a leader i disliked once and i moved groups. It was much better.

I hope your cancer treatment has been as bearable and untraumatic as possible. Flowers

user1470771898 · 28/10/2016 01:09

AnnaForbes - thank you - I wasn't sure if I was just being over sensitive.

It was only when others, who'd put on weight, looked and sounded very uncomfortable having to explain their lapses that I wondered whether this was normal/right.

The plan seems comfortable to work with and I'm reluctant to give up - I shall look elsewhere!

And thank you - results not yet back but I am hopeful of complete excision Smile

Ohdearducks · 28/10/2016 01:15

Hello I'm a new joiner, I have a lot to lose and started slimming world last Monday, first weigh in this week and lost 7lb 5oz!!! It's the most I've ever lost in one go ever, I'm hoping I can continue to lose 3-4lb a week. I'm on the breastfeeding plan this week and hope I can continue to lose well despite the extra Healthy extras I need to eat. Good luck everyone.

Ohdearducks · 28/10/2016 01:21

1898 she sounds awful, part of the sell is that there's no humiliation, that sounded very humiliating for you and the others in the group. I'd be tempted to put a complaint in especially as she went against your express wishes like that. Definitely find a new group, and I hope you get the news you want from your diagnoses and your treatment goes well.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 28/10/2016 06:56

Do they read your results out in all groups then? (I'm online). 1898 - that sounds totally insensitive, I'd be looking for a new group too.

PositiveAttitude · 28/10/2016 07:51

1898 well done for sitting there - I would have walked out, probably shouting obscenities for good measure!!!

The more I read on here the more I appreciate my consultant. She does go through everyone, but will only say if you have had a loss and how much it is. If you gain, or maintain she asks how you are and leaves it to you to fill in as many gaps as you want to. One week DD1 had a bad week and she text her before the group and asked her not to say anything about her week - when it came to her the consultant was very good at not saying anything negative, but saying that DD1 looked beautiful in a fitted dress that she would not have been able to wear a month before. DD came out of there feeling so proud and encouraged to keep on going.

Do all your groups have facebook pages too? Ours is really good for getting to know each other and sharing things.

Thisismadness Well done on getting to target! Thanks

ALemonyPea · 28/10/2016 07:59

Well done losers, and well done on target Madness!

Molly, you could do SW and just get weighed at WW. Be rebellious.

Been awake for ages. Need to get ready to buy Take That tickets at half 9.

ALemonyPea · 28/10/2016 08:01

Posted too soon.

1898, your consultant sounds like a prized twat. Are there any other groups you can join? I'd be tempted to complain about her.
