alibongo, yes, you're right, you can have pasta and jacket potatoes in one day, as they're both free foods.
I guess Lemony, like me, finds that weight losses are better if one meal a day is a SP meal, leaving out the carbs.
You just need to find out what works best for you, and if you've only just started on the plan, carbs at each meal will probably be fine.

ALemonyPea · 26/10/2016 18:27

Well done on the nominaction PA. Glad your grandsons breathing is going well, hopenthey manage to sort his seizures out, they just finding the right medication?

Ali you can have potatoes and pasta with every meal if you wanted, mimjust find my weight loss is better if I limit myself to Arby's with one meal.

ALemonyPea · 26/10/2016 18:27

Ahem, carbs not Arby's

Buttwing · 26/10/2016 18:39

Hi all, welcome to the newbiesSmile

Half a pound gain for me today but I've had a very odd week this week and too many syns so I suppose that's what happens!!
Ive not eaten anything but fruit today have had a funny tummy thing for a few days now so not really felt like much (which is probably just as well after a dodgy start to the week!!) I'm feeling a bit better tonight so I'm having a good take away tonight with dp while we watch the derby tonight (joy!!)
PA I'm glad your grandson is doing ok, my dd2 has seizures (when she has a temp) and has done since
She was 15 months old. It's a truly terrifying thing to watch so I can't imagine what it's like with a tiny baby hopefully he will stabilise soonFlowers

Buttwing · 26/10/2016 21:30

Gosh it's quiet on here tonight! Did I break the thread?!Grin

littlepooch · 26/10/2016 21:45

Evening All

Day 2 done for me. I've stinking cold so was pleased I didn't give into my sweet craving

B 2 weetabix (hexb) and 350 ml skimmed milk (hexa). Half a banana
L Heinz creationz lentils (my leader assured us these are free), half a jacket potato, salad. Apple
D SW bolognaise (made with loads of veg in), spaghetti, veg. Apple.

Well done on you nomination positive how flattering!

Does anyone have any commendations for a small choc treat every now and then? I was thinking of a fun size bag of maltesers perhaps?

littlepooch · 26/10/2016 21:46

Perhaps everyone has been glued to bake off final buttwing! :)

Buttwing · 26/10/2016 21:53

Aaah that makes sense littlepooch!! I can't watch it, it makes me want to eat!

LakeFlyPie · 26/10/2016 21:56

Hi, I've been lurking on this lovely thread and getting so much inspiration as I plod towards my target (determined to get there in the next few weeks - 7lbs to go!) I thought I should delurk and share a syn free broth which made a massive difference to my stinking cold symptoms this week:
Thinly sliced carrots lightly boiled in Marigold bouillon stock until tender, add finely grated chunk of ginger and slivers of red chilli and if you need a bit more sustenance, some chunks of cooked chicken. You can also add some noodles if you want a more filling meal.
It literally cured my cotton wool head and made me feel vaguely human again! Smile

LavenderRains · 26/10/2016 23:06

Well done PA what a great feeling to be nominated! Flowers best wishes for your gs continuing fight.
I'm on a 'holiday' week this week as my shifts are just all over the place, days and nights in 1 week, so I have to wait till next wed for weigh in.....
Today B weetabix HE's and a banana.
D homemade savoury rice with added salmon, mushrooms and courgettes. Muller light yogurt.
T 2 slices toast with laughing cow triangle and a packet of popcorn (all syned)

SlinkyB · 26/10/2016 23:09

Hello! Mind if I join you all? I joined a SW group 8 weeks ago tomorrow, and have lost 7lbs so far. Only have a total of 16lbs to lose so am happy with 1lb per week.

Have done SW a few times over the years so am a bit of a vet (though this SP thing is throwing me a bit).

One quick question...does anyone else find they're more...erm...gassy?! Halloween Blush My husband is going to leave me at this rate. Maybe it's all the speed food and omelettes. Any cures?!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 26/10/2016 23:31

Evening all.

Slinky - yes! but DH is still worse than me. Constipated at times too, I used to eat a lot more bread and I think my body is missing it.

PA - well done on the nomination! Also glad to hear DGS is holding his own.

Lakefly - funny you should say that, I have just gone down with a cold and my DD insists that I will be cured by her homemade soup consisting of stock, mixed grains, tiny pasta and shredded chicken.

Well, weigh-in tomorrow. Tempted to pass this week as we have been in mainland Europe for a few days and I have consumed my bodyweight in croissants, beer and chocolate since last week. Loved every minute of it though.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 27/10/2016 07:39

Up 1.1kg Blush

FaithAscending · 27/10/2016 08:30

Hello all, I'd like to join you! I joined SW last week. I did WW for 18 months. Lost 21lb the first 6 months, maintained for 6 months, gained over last 6 months and then quit! So far, I definitely prefer SW. A much more balanced diet. I started at 13st 11lb (I'm 5ft 4.5"). First week I lost 5lb! Shock I was eating loads of refined carbs prior to starting so just cutting them out and filling up on free foods has definitely helped.

alibongo5 · 27/10/2016 10:03

Thanks for letting me know about the pasta/potatoes thing. I think once I get going I will probably only have carbs once a day as that is what I am used to but at the mo I am just slavishly following SW recipes in fear of putting a step wrong.

I went out to a gig last night straight from work - I probably should've eaten something there but just couldn't be arsed to work out what I could have so ended up having nothing to eat but just a nice glass of wine pre-concert. And then after my husband wanted to go to the pub where I would usually have joined him by having a pint - but I just had a half so stayed within my syns for the day! There is absolutely no way I would've done that a couple of weeks ago!

I know I probably should have found something to eat but having had a huge pasta salad for lunch I really wasn't hungry.

Today:
B: Porridge (hexb) with hexa milk, frozen berries and natural yoghurt
L: Egg and cottage cheese salad
D: Don't know yet, will trawl through the recipes to find something yummy
S: Might have a mugshot after work before going to my class at the gym - I'll need something to keep me going until 9ish.

Thanks to all - and PA hugs to you re your grandchild - my son has seizures as a young child and there are awful to watch. Hopefully, he will stabilise soon.

ps how on earth was someone who gained so much slimmer of the year??!

ALemonyPea · 27/10/2016 15:04

Em, I found those lemon meringues, and bought three boxes Blush. Two for the party though, and have had 4 already. They're delicious. Will definitely have to stock up.

Didn't get up until 11 today, which is very unusual for me. I was awake from 9 though, but just lounged in bed, so no breakfast

D: baked oats and fruit
T: fish and mush peas from chippy and will make my own chips

PositiveAttitude · 27/10/2016 15:07

Whoknows don't worry!! I hope you had a fantastic time away. What I like about SW is that I find it easier to jump straight back into it once I have had a wobble. It's only a blip and you will lose it again if you get back to plan now you are home.

Alibongo She won because she has a wonderful sense of humour and the group wanted to encourage her and she was so open about all her feelings and struggles (illness and medication) it took her a lot of guts to walk back into the group and re-join, but DD1 and I find it highly amusing!!! Grin It doesn't say a lot for the group that voted for her does it?....and me who needs to lose about another 5 stone to be voted for this. Maybe I shouldn't be as chuffed as I am!! Hmm

alibongo5 · 27/10/2016 15:14

Aww PA that's really sweet of them to try and encourage her! You sound like you have a lovely group!

MrsMcClements35 · 27/10/2016 15:25

WI today, 12.1 now, 3 off Smile
How many syns in the lemon meringues?

Scorbus · 27/10/2016 15:32

Hello all, can I join? I'm on week 8 and hoping for my stone award tonight (was 0.5 off last week) having to go to a different group as I'm on holiday in a different part of the UK, luckily found a group at the same time as my usual group!

Haven't been able to stick to my usual meal plans as I'm away but still stuck to plan as much as I can.

dannyglick · 27/10/2016 16:53

Good luck for WI tonight, Scorbus: that's wonderful commitment, finding a group while away on holiday!
Well done for not undoing all your good work while away.
The SW philosophy for dealing with holidays, Xmas, etc is to make your choice from:
1 .Eat what you like, expect quite a big gain, but just deal with it when you get back.
2 .Keep to plan as usual.
3.Keep mainly to plan, but have a few extra (flexible) syn days, but keep in control.

ohmygodyouguys · 27/10/2016 18:24

WI for me in just over an hour, not all that optimistic but someone from work asked if I'd lost weight today and I was chuffed to be able to tell them I've lost a stone and a half Grin.
Sister coming to visit next week so she'll be coming along to group to see what it's all about.

SlinkyB · 27/10/2016 18:36

Good luck ohmygod Smile Mine is at 7.30pm-ish too. Not feeling confident but you never know.

whoknows any tips to keep the stinky wind at bay then?! I suspect my almost daily can of Pepsi Max doesn't help. My husband seldom farts so it's me who gets told off lately Sad

Scorbus · 27/10/2016 18:48

Flexible syn days are what I've been doing whilst away and back on plan proper from Saturday.

ALemonyPea · 27/10/2016 19:17

Half a syn in the lemon meringues.

Good luck for tonight's weigh ins.
