I need to join this thread! Going to restart tonight after a turbulent couple of years and a 2+ stone weight gain.
I've just been really lazy about what I've put into my mouth but I'm fed up of it now!

emwithme · 25/10/2016 09:51

Welcome newbies (and welcome back, Maygirl )

Now, my sneaky-midweek-weigh is showing a 2lb loss. I am confused, because I have done nothing different this week to last. Oh well, it's the number on Thursday morning that matters, but I shall keep on keeping on and see what that says. 5.5 lbs to target...

I hadn't thought about taking froyo to the cinema. That is INSPIRED. I tend to take the M&S mini lemon meringues (they also do a box of coconut ones that are 7.5 syns for the box) because they occupy my "hand to mouth" need (although when I last went to the cinema I didn't eat anything which was weird at first but wasn't actually that bad. I did still have a bucket of diet pepsi though).

SP day today:

Brekkie: Eggy muffins
Lunch: Spicy butternut squash soup, apple, pear, satsumas
Dinner: Salmon with roasted mediterranean veg
HEA: Milk
HEB1: Finn Crisps (with soup)
HEB2: Hifi bars or apricots (depends whether I need chocolate or just sweet tonight!)

Hello all

Not going to wi tomorrow. The dcs have a riding lesson and it would be a mad rush. Plus ds is a pain. Plus I am still weighing heavier than last week after a weekend of indulgences! Going to put a holiday day in.

B. Coffee
L. Should really defrost some soup. But the dcs have pizza and there will likely be some left. Hmmppph.

T. Beef stew, lots of speed and possibly mashed potato.

Brontegirl1 · 25/10/2016 12:55

Well done to all the losers! Haven't checked in here for a while (mad busy at work and home!). Week 5 and I have lost 1.6 stone so far so feeling good. Nobody at work has noticed yet but I do have nearly another 4 stone to go, so maybe that's why.

Experimented with a WW recipe on Sat night : cooked lasagne sheets in pan of boiling water for about three minutes, fished them out and cut each sheet into eight triangles and then baked them in the oven with salt, pepper and paprika; lightly misted with FryLight. They taste a bit like tortilla chips. However, would they have to be synned because I have 'tweaked' the lasagne? Think I remember someone saying something like that in a chat about alternatives to dough for pizza bases? Thanks for any advice.

MrsMcClements35 · 25/10/2016 13:11

Hi thank you for reply, thers me thinking the sw burgers and sausage were free haha anyway at least I know now lol getting weighed on Thursday mornin for the first but been doing it from Monday, well trying too lol,

So far had porridge for breakfast
A banana for snack and carrot and coriander soup with wheaten :syn:
No more syns left Shock

Weighed 12.4 on Monday

dannyglick · 25/10/2016 13:52

MrsMcClements, yes, the SW sausages and burgers are free.
Everything in the Iceland frozen SW range is free.

iklboo · 25/10/2016 15:38

Salmon 'en croute' for tea tonight. Salmon fillets pan fried in fry light, add light Philadelphia (HEXA) to make a sauce (let down with a little skimmed milk if it's a bit thick). Wilt some spinach into the mix.

Use a Kingsmill Sandwich Thin as a HEXB. Place the salmon mix one one half. Place the other half on top & seal with beaten egg. Brush the top with beaten egg & put in the oven - about gas 6 / 200 degrees for around 15-20 mins until they've gone nice & crispy.

I'm serving with roasted baby new potatoes, broccoli & asparagus.

ALemonyPea · 25/10/2016 15:51

Em, are the mini meringues in a box or a tub? Keep looking for them at my local M&S but never saw them yet.

The ice cream is inspired though! Will definitely do that next time.

Only lost 1lb at WI. I've had break most of the week, and I'm so bloated and hadnt been for a poo since Thursday. However, been twice since WI. Typical! So hopefully get a loss next week.

That sounds lovely Ikl, I like the steak bakes, never thought of doing an en croutes thingy. Will def try that.

B: fruit, hifi bar at group
D: ham, egg and pickles, butternut squash soup
T: pasta bolognese

No syns yet, might have some biscuits later. Haven't even had a post WI snack, was too gutted by the 1lb loss.

emwithme · 25/10/2016 16:10

Lemony They're in a plastic tub in clear wrap www.m-s.gr/product/super-mini-lemon-meringue-35-gr (for some reason I can only find them online in the Greek M&S but it's the same packaging!)

Bronte that is officially a tweak as you're not eating the lasagne sheets as they're intended (ie as part of a lasagne) so theoretically you need to syn it the same as Doritos BUT if it works for you then go for it!

Ah Excellent! I was looking by the tubs of goodies. Will get them for the party next week.

iklboo · 25/10/2016 16:39

We do a chicken, bacon & mushroom bake thing too. That's really nice with SW chips.

emwithme · 25/10/2016 17:15

lemony they're with the standard meringue nests and pavlova makings near eggs and sugar...

littlepooch · 25/10/2016 20:08

Evening all. First day almost done. Wasn't too bad except I just craved something with flavour? Weird.

B 2 weetabix (HEXB) and 350ml skimmed milk (HEXA and rest was used in tea and coffee). Banana.
L SW quiche and salad, Apple
D will be jacket potato with tuna, sweetcorn and extra light mayo (need to check syns), salad and an apple. When DD finally goes to bed! Grin

Does that look OK to expert SW people?

dannyglick · 25/10/2016 20:28

Looks like a good first day on plan, littlepooch.
If you wanted a little more variety, you could have had some speed veg with one of your meals, instead of two salads, but that's up to you.
You should have at least 5 syns a day, too.
Extra light mayo is one syn per tablespoon.

PositiveAttitude · 25/10/2016 22:05

Hi all. After being annoyed last week with my maintain, I am now very happy with a 3lb loss this week. Grin Just another 2.5lb to my 3 stones and 15lb to my next interim target, which I want to be at by February next year. I can't say that I did anything different this week than I did last week when I maintained, so this has shown me that I need to not get despondent if one week does not go as I expected.

littlepooch · 25/10/2016 22:08

Thank you danny I didn't know that about syns so will see what I can use tomorrow. I have lots of veg planned for tomorrow too.

icklekid · 26/10/2016 07:46

iklboo that salmon dish sounds amazing!

SouthernNorthernGirl · 26/10/2016 09:03

Hello Smile
I just RTFT and would love to join in, if that's alright? I'm not at a group yet, I'm seeing how I do first - I knew a thread would be on here!

iklboo · 26/10/2016 10:13

ickle it's so delicious but really quick to make. It tastes like you're having something full of syns.

alibongo5 · 26/10/2016 12:37

Hi another newbie here! My weight has been gradually creeping up so having got back from holiday 10 days ago decided I should try to take myself in hand. Have been following the main principles and went to my first meeting yesterday.

Can't believe how much you can eat and can't really believe that I can lose weight eating these recipes!

Yesterday was:
B: Boiled eggs and a slice of wholemeal bread (hexb)
L: Jacket potato with prawns and light mayo (2 syns)
D: Garlicky haddock with loads of stir fry veg and noodles (SW recipe - free)

2 small glasses of red wine (probably too many syns)

Today is:
B: 40g muesli with natural yoghurt and 1/2 a banana (hesb)
L: Pasta salad with prawns and smoked salmon (SW recipe 1 1/2 syns)
D: No idea - going out straight after work to concert so will have to try to find something sensible at venue - not much chance of that so maybe nothing except a glass of wine or beer!

My downfall is definitely going to be alcohol - I can resist chocolate (mostly) and sweet things generally but love wine and beer!

My target is 20lb over 12 weeks (but that does include Christmas) - I'd love to say goodbye to my belly!

alibongo5 · 26/10/2016 12:39

Oh and I forgot snacks of SW houmous and peppers (free), natural yoghurt and an apple.

After going to the meeting, I realised I probably should have served the jacket spud with a salad as well.

dannyglick · 26/10/2016 13:19

Hello, all
I was disappointed to have gained half a pound at WI this morning, but it's star week, and I feel very bloated ( I even see a puffy face in the mirror, and just don't look the same!)
Today, we've done the "Cereal Challenge": last week, we were each allocated a particular cereal to buy, and we had to weigh out the box into HEB portions, then put it in food bags back in the box.
The boxes were all put out on the table at group, and we each picked the bags we wanted to try. The idea is to try something new without having to buy different cereals, which would be expensive.

ALemonyPea · 26/10/2016 14:23

Welcome newbies and well done to the losers.

PA, how is your grandson doing?

Been to Costco today, and avoided all the little food stations they had going on, including Lindt chocolates and Christmas cake.

B: fruit, hifi bar,yoghurt
D: jacket potato with beans from Costco
T: leftover bolognese, will add extra veg and don't think I'll have pasta as alreaydnhad a jacket potato

alibongo5 · 26/10/2016 14:44

"and don't think I'll have pasta as already had a jacket potato"

Ooh - shouldn't you have both in one day then? I thought as they were both free you could. If not, I've failed on my first day!

PositiveAttitude · 26/10/2016 15:39

Lemony He is still fighting, but is having seizures again. His breathing is going well and he is spending times without a mask even. Thanks for asking.

I am totally flabbergasted!!!! I have been nominated for Miss Slinky!!!! I am so far from any acceptable target weight, I honestly thought it was a joke!! Shock Shock Shock but this is from the group who voted Slimmer of the year the lady who had gained 9 stone in a year, so that brings me down to earth a bit!! I think this is a year too soon!! I aim to be Miss Slinky this time next year! It does wonders for my confidence, though! Grin
