Hi, I joined sw less than a week ago but I am already struggling to stay motivated. So I thought I would give you all a wave to see if it would help me keep going.

emwithme · 29/10/2016 10:18

Frouby that is proper shit and I don't know what to say Flowers

ThisisMadness WELL DONE!

Heirhelp Welcome to the madhouse.

User...1898 As well as finding a new group, you need to report that consultant to Head Office. This is my third (fourth?) time doing SW, in various towns and cities, and I've been to lots of random meetings when I've been visiting family and that is so far from what SW expect their meetings to be, they would NOT be happy. There's one lady at my group who gets her clap heh when she's lost, but who doesn't do any talking at all. She has mild learning disabilities and finds it hard to talk in group, but is a valued member of "us" (and contributes lovely pictures from her dog walks to the group's facebook page). There must be a note on her profile on the tablet, because whenever we have stand-in consultants they do the same thing - she gets the praise for her loss, or for what she's lost so far when there's not a loss, and asked if she's OK (which she mumbles yes to) and then we move on to the next person.

It's DH's birthday on Monday so we had steak last night (we can't celebrate on Monday as I've got college in the evening, we're having a roast as normal tomorrow, and then he's out for a curry tonight with his Army Cadet mates which makes him sound 15, he's not, honest ) which was bloody gorgeous and totally on plan. Gave him the choice of either going out somewhere (and he could've picked anywhere) or steak at home and like the good supportive husband he is he picked steak at home, so it was entirely on plan.

Sounds great emwithme, I love it when you have a gorgeous meal on plan!

I've bought for Christmas too...I'm GF and love mince pies. Tesco do GF mince pies but they sell out really quickly and they never have enough. I saw some yesterday so I bought them. Normally I'd buy one pack to eat and one pack to save. This time I only bought one pack, which I gave to my Dad to store until Christmas. They are 14 syns each so I better savour them when the time comes!

ALemonyPea · 29/10/2016 12:07

Oh i love sweet mince pies, especially the ones from Greggs. Id normally eat a packet a week as soon as they come into the shops.

Ill have to wait until Christmas though as having three days off plan.

Geepee71 · 29/10/2016 15:16

I'm already planning my Christmas food and know I will need to be swotting up on stollen bites and mini mince pie syn values. I'm thinking I'll just have to take the hit and plan for them, but not go crazy scoffing them like a woman possessed.

user, 1898, I agree with the other posters, find another group and report the consultant, that's not going to win SW any new members.

LavenderRains · 29/10/2016 17:40

DH has won vouchers for a local thai restaurant tonight! I've never had thai
What on earth can I eat?? Is it all going to be really bad? Maybe I shall have to just not try and fathom out sun's.
I've been good all day, just had beans on toast and muller yogurt.
Any tips for Thai please?

LavenderRains · 29/10/2016 17:41

Syns not suns! Hmm

Frouby · 29/10/2016 18:06

Lavender as long as you avoid the coconut milk based dishes like red and green Thai I think most of it is OK. Avoid the starters like spring rolls too. I think pad Thai is pretty good value and also any boiled rice will be free.

Not had a bad few days considering. Am not worrying about tea being whatever as I just either don't have time or can't face cooking. Tonight is OK as having steak, wedges and veg. Last 2 nights have been curry and Chinese tho.

Haven't been eating lunch really just grabbing a piece of fruit.

Bil now got pneumonia but is hanging on in there. Sister looks quite well after thyroid removal and is home. Mum looks rougher than sister to be fair. Have been taking my nephew as much as I can to give mum a break and have him for the day tomorrow.

My ds thinks it's fab though. They are 2.10 and 2.6 so a handful together but they are certainly enjoying themselves. Going to walk them round the lake tomorrow and burn some energy off.

PositiveAttitude · 29/10/2016 18:47

Welcome Heir - What are you struggling with? If you tell us we might be able to suggest something to help. I found it very difficult for the first few days. I didnt know what to do, and it all seemed a bit complicated, but once you "get" what you are doing it is really simple and easy to follow and very flexible.

Frouby Flowers life is really chucking some rubbish at your family at the moment, isn't it? I hope things start to improve soon.

I am off out tonight to a school reunion. Absolutely dreading it and am expecting to be home within an hour!! Blush I have eaten a lovely steak for my Saturday night on plan treat meal, which was yummy. I am full so that I wont be so tempted at the buffet. I have saved myself some syns and I will take a HiFi bar in case I want something sweet as I am too stuffed to have anything else now.

ALemonyPea · 29/10/2016 19:09

Frouby Flowers. Just think of all the body magic running around after the two little ones.mhats off to you for still trying to diet.

Plodded along today, only had 2 syns and that was overestimating the few McDonald's chips I had today.

ALemonyPea · 29/10/2016 19:10

Enjoy your reunion tonight PA. Hope you manage to stop a little longer than an hour,

LavenderRains · 29/10/2016 19:22

Thanks frouby we are going next week now as they didn't have a table tonight until 9,30 & I can't wait that long to eat!
Soooo we are having steak, slimming world chips and peas & mushrooms.
Enjoy your reunion PA you're brave, I couldn't face going to one of them!

alibongo5 · 29/10/2016 19:51

Made SW KFC chicken tonight and SW chips and served it with peas and courgettes cooked in tinned tomatoes with garlic and herbs. Very nice. And I had a SW friendly cooked breakfast this morning. Now for Syns, made up of red wine.

ALemonyPea · 30/10/2016 10:06

I really want to make KFC style chicken. Is it the cous cous recipe?

alibongo5 · 30/10/2016 10:29

No it was this one twochubbycubs.com/2015/04/08/kfc-style-chicken/ - it used breadcrumbs - hexb allowance so syn free.

I like the layout of listing the recipes there - by main ingredient and then listing the syn free ones first. The SW site has good recipes but I find the organisation of them quite basic to browse through - just listed as which meal it is.

RedHouses · 30/10/2016 12:31

Is anyone part of any good SW groups on FB?

ALemonyPea · 30/10/2016 13:45

Slimming world recipe swap and low syn ideas

That's an ok page.

My consultant has a FB page, but only for her groups.

Frouby · 30/10/2016 17:16

Hello all

Bil holding on. They woke him again this morning and although they had to sedate him again quickly he was lucid. If a little angry at finding himself in hospital with various lines in him. Apparently he was trying to get home to see his kids and everyone had to fucking back off!

So positive in that he isn't severely brain damaged. Pneumonia still a big worry and so is the state of his heart. But there is hope at least.

Today has been a better day foodwise. Dp did a cooked breakfast this morning which I couldn't face but picked at what ds left. A sausage and a rasher of bacon. And am doing a chicken dinner tonight.

Also going to try and remember my b choice as I haven't had it for days and feel very bloated.

Hoping for a tentative maintain on Wednesday if at all possible. Star week happened today so am hoping the 2lb my scales are showing is down to that.

Things should be more normal this week.

ALemonyPea · 30/10/2016 18:39

Good news on your BIL Frouby. Hope he continues to improve.

Have done so much ch walking today. All unplanned but enjoyed it., love autumn, and walking in leafy areas, lovely.

B: baked oats, fruit
D: ham and pease pudding, pickles, carrot sticks
T: roast chicken dinner, no gravy or yorkies so syn free

Have had some Lebkuchen though, 6.5 syns of lovely gingerness.

Ohdearducks · 30/10/2016 18:51

For Frouby Flowers hope you're BIL will be ok.

Does anyone have any quick recipe ideas I can whip up for my group taster session?

alibongo5 · 30/10/2016 19:05

Frouby - so glad to hear that your BIL is a little better. Flowers

Scorbus · 30/10/2016 21:36

Glad to hear some good news about your BIL.

I've got Inset day tomorrow which means a raft of beige food, not SW friendly. Going to a different school too so can't take my usual leftovers. Going to take some carrot sticks and low fat hummus to try and stay on plan!

icklekid · 31/10/2016 06:05

Frouby sorry to hear about your BIL hope he continues to do well

scorbus I would definitely take own food rather than beige buffet and maybe a walk at lunchtime to avoid temptation!

Well only one 1.5lb loss for me - 1lb off a stone, gutted as was really good last week. Haven't been eating many syns (max 5 a day) it sounds silly but what could I eat to increase that isn't chocolate/sweet? I know if I wasn't breastfeeding and therefore allowed extra heA and heB that would be where my syns go but need to have the calcium so allowed lots of cheese/milk!

Am hoping for a good loss this week to make up for it. Out of my maternity clothes which means am definitely losing inches which is great 😀

PositiveAttitude · 31/10/2016 08:10

OhDearDucks I am planning on taking along some of the cucumber stuffed with crab and also I am going to get some shot glasses and fill them with a garlic dip with a carrot stick in each. Also contemplating doing some devilled eggs.

emwithme · 31/10/2016 12:15

Glad to hear there's some improvement with your BIL, Frouby

Ickle USE YOUR SYNS...that's what they're there for. Also, a pound and a half is fabulous...if you did that every week that would be just over 5 1/2 stone in a year.

OhDearDucks I tend to be lazy and take either the Iceland Meatballs (cooked and chilled) or the M&S Super Mini Lemon (or coconut) Meringues. 7 syns for a tub of the lemon, and 7.5 syns for the coconut (and they're fab!)

It's DH's birthday today so we're off out for lunch. I have looked at the menu of the place we want to go to (not booked it because I am lazy, but it's a Monday lunchtime so shouldn't be any issues - and if there is, we'll go somewhere else) and it looks fabulous.
