Hi guys, had my first weigh in and lost 1.5lbs. I'm pleased that I've lost, was kind of hoping for a bit more off I'll be honest, but hey it's a start. Going to do it again next week and see how I get on. When I joined we years ago I only lost 1lb the first week but then did quite well after that so maybe this will be the same, who knows?

Tbh, it's easy enough to do for 1.5lb a week. Would take about 30 weeks to get to where I want to be. What's that, about 8 months? May time?

maygirl · 27/09/2016 22:35

Thanks Em and Frouby. I write down everything everyday and have done diaries and SAS logs for my consultant. I always weigh my hexs and use a measuring spoon for sauces etc. That's part of the problem, im fed up of writing it all down and focussing on it so much for so little reward!
lunch in the week is nearly always a salad, mostly speed veg, often SP, and i always have half a plate of speed veg with dinner. I've tried MFP before and it took ages to enter meals cooked from scratch. How do you log things quickly Em! ? I've logged in tonight and entered my breakfast and lunch, but can't do dinner accurately as didn't weigh the meat or potatoes this time. I'll have a go and see how many calories I'm averaging.
If I'm off plan at all I'll have a gain, then SS or lose 0.5-1.5, then SS, then no doubt have an off plan day or weekend and gain again, so I don't lose overall. In the last few months I've only ever lost more than 1 pound if I've gained the week before.
I think i do obviously need to eat much smaller amounts (as i'm really short Grin) and concentrate on stopping at the first sign of satiety. I'm not sure I'm getting anything out of going to group tbh , I just feel cross afterwards!

TheImprobableGirl · 27/09/2016 22:42

Sorry you're feeling frustrated maygirl I have no advice unfortunately as I've just started, but try and use the consultant to the best of your ability and shake it up a bit!

TheImprobableGirl · 27/09/2016 22:48

I weighed in on Monday and to my surprise lost 0.5lb! Have really tried the last couple of days and hoping for a bigger loss next wi. Also got some hi-fi bars which are a godsend!

B- 1 piece warburtons white toast (4.5 syns) with fried egg and tomatoes
L- pasta with passata, loads of veg and some chicken
D- chicken breast, broccoli and Cajun chips
S- coffee with HEA milk and 2 X hifi light as HEB

Quite happy with today!

froubylou · 28/09/2016 06:58

May how much do you have to lose to get to target? If your bmi is pretty good it could definitely be portion sizes you need to look at. I find mfp a pain too. If you are writing it down anyway try and jot down calories maybe? I know it's a bit of a faff but less faddy than writing then logging.

My WI this morning. star week approaching so will probably maintain but that's normal for me.

todays plan

B. Coffee
L. dunno yet. salad and something probably
t. lasagne and salad. Making my own normal white sauce so will have syns in but it's a lot less than shop bought sauce.

Mummyme87 · 28/09/2016 08:15

WI for me tonight.

I ran out of eggs so stumped for breakfast. I'm not up for using all my HEB on breakfast 😖

OwlinaTree · 28/09/2016 09:51

Week 2 commences.

B mushroom and tomato omlette, hexb raisin wheats and milk
L ? Going out!
T chicken and veg chow mein stir fry with rice 3 syns.

TheImprobableGirl · 28/09/2016 10:00

would I still have a loss if I followed the plan to the letter for 13 days each fortnight and then have 1 day off plan, but still semi sensible!
I think this would be easier to follow long term but wondering if it would work for weight loss

ALemonyPea · 28/09/2016 10:11

I have 3 stone 4 to get to target. Doesn't seem that much really now does it, considering how I started off needed 8 stone to lose. Over the half way mark.

Well done on the losses, and good luck everyone getting weighed today.

Just been to the gym, managed 20 minutes on the treadmill and even jogged a little, so no, that wasn't a little earthquake, it was me.

Once you get closer to target May, you do lose less. How many syns you having a day?

B: fruit and yoghurt
D: sausages, scrambled egg, mushrooms and onions
T: salmon and veg fried rice.

froubylou · 28/09/2016 11:18

Theimprobable I do the plan 6 days a week with 1 night off but still semi ok. So swap for boiled rice instead of fried for instance. It works for me still but everyone is different.

lemony you are an inspiration!

Just a half lb off for me this morning but ok with that as star week is inbound.

I have 2 stone and 1/2 lb to get to my target. It will be slow and steady as it has taken 20 weeks I think to lose 19lbs. But we had 2 weekends away in that period and nearly 8 weeks of school holidays which always throws me off plan slightly.

I am just going to keep chipping away at it. If I can lose 1lb a week between now and Christmas I will be very happy!

Mummyme87 · 28/09/2016 11:24

Arghh. What I thought was 400g whole meal bread was in fact 800g 😖

Redpony1 · 28/09/2016 12:10

Can i join in? Not yet a mum but trying to get to my optimum healthy weight before i embark on trying...

I lost 4st on SW back in 2014 and got to goal weight. Then life happened, some family upset last year has meant that almost 2st has piled back on! I just joined online using a code in another thread - thank you for that.

Things have changed for me since i last done the plan in 2013 - i am far more busy these days. I have 3 horses still that i do twice daily, i work full time but now i also run 4 times a week (which hasnt shifted a single lb or made me tone up!!)
So, finding a good food routine is going to be hard. Last time i went to group weekly but i just don't have time to fit that in too - at some point i do need to be doing nothing!

I am one of those people that likes my dinner ready and on a plate 30mins start to finish (mostly because i am home so late every eve!) so i need to think hard about what to eat.

I always have mugshots for lunch (is the chicken one still syn free?) but if anyone has any ideas of other syn free pre-made packet lunches, let me know as mugshots are getting a little boring i have to admit.

Looking forward to following this thread :) Some really inspirational progress!!

OrianaBanana · 28/09/2016 12:14

Hi Redpony! I am currently 28 weeks pregnant after TTC for a year and finally getting pregnant when I lost 1.5 stone with Slimming World (now a healthy BMI - or I was before the baby started growing!).

I think the chicken mug shot is now NOT syn free but do check on the app/website.

Have you thought about using a slow cooker? There are lots of great SW meals that can be done in there. Or we did the diet coke chicken last night which was quite quick, with boiled rice, and we're having the leftovers again tonight.

Redpony1 · 28/09/2016 12:56

Thanks OB!

I have just seen the mugshot is 1 syn, i can live with that!

I just stood up for lunch to go to Tesco for lunch, then realising that there is nothing to eat on their grab & go section that isn't high syns (already used 9syns for breakfast as i am using my bread up, hate waste)
I am resorting to my emergency stash of mugshots and i already have fat free yog in the fridge :)

I keep considering a slow cooker, but i am so nervous - i am a complete kitchen phobe :( Is it really totally idiot proof?
I am out of the house from 6am often till 8:30pm, is that too long for a slow cooker?

Thanks for your help :) Well done on your weightloss and pregnancy!!

PositiveAttitude · 28/09/2016 16:15

WI this morning and 2.5lb loss. Happy bunny here!! Although it was a morning weigh in instead of my normal Tuesday evening weigh in, so maybe the loss will be less next week to compensate. Couldn't go to group last evening because I traveled to London to visit the tiny grandson for the day. 6am - 11pm. I was shattered!!!
DD1 has been very poorly this week with Pharyngitis and hasn't been able to eat or drink - resulting in a 12lb loss for her!! First time out of the house for a week was to the weigh in. She knows that she will probably gain next week as she eats normally again, but if she can minimise that she will be ecstatic. She feels as if she has cheated the consultant by doing it through illness.
Can anyone tell me - there is no advantage to the consultant when people get to their awards is there? We are worried that our lovely consultant wont get any "bonus" for DD1 gaining her stone, her stone and a half and her Club 10 when we went to another group. Hmm

Welcome to newbies and a massive wave and even a sneaky hug to Whoknows !!!!! Not that I am choosing favourite newbies, just that have a little mn and RL "history"! Grin

I could not survive without my slowcooker, redpony. And very often I chuck stuff in before work at 7am and will eat 6pm and DH might not eat the same meal until after 9 when he gets in from work. It's ideal to be left for as long as you need to - and meals ready as soon as you walk through the door after work.
I also now use my Halo massively. Love it and so quick to cook loads of things.

I think I have perfected the scan bran cake. Just made a coffee flavour one and it was the most like an actual cake texture. I've got another slab for after college this evening. yum yum!

Em how are you finding the course? I am struggling to fit in the study time this year and my head is pretty full up with family things that there seems no "space" for study!! I really must knuckle down to it.

Today:
B (afer WI) Fruit
L Quiche and salad
D (after college) Heck sausages and potatoes
Snacks - Coffee cake (0.5 syns) and a graze box to take to college (5syns)..... and a few available in case I fancy a treat at some point. (DS has come home from work with the nicest bread he made today, so I might succumb to a slice with dinner)

ALemonyPea · 28/09/2016 18:20

Well done on the loss Positive. Hope your DD feels better. Tell me more about scran bran cake.

ninnypoo · 28/09/2016 18:20

www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1364/spicy-root-and-lentil-casserole

Made this for lunch today (and tomorrow.. And Friday!) and it was lovely, would recommend.

Been a good girl again today (syns on two little chocolates) but not sure it'll be enough before weigh ins. Will be mortified with a gain on my second week

ninnypoo · 28/09/2016 19:16

Gained 1.5lbs! It was expected but still depressing to face. Particularly as I have 4 weekends in October where it'll be difficult to control my food and that just throws me off for the full week.

jerseygal78 · 28/09/2016 19:48

Can I join? I've been doing sw since April & generally really enjoying it but struggling with motivation this week after only losing half a pound & being really good. Doing my best not to think stuff it I'll relax till after wi on Monday & restart then (but I know this will probably result in a gain...). Desperately trying to lose the holiday weight...

froubylou · 28/09/2016 20:03

ninny that casserole looks lovely. I might have a bash at that for lunches next week.

Welcome jersey. Think about how much you have lost since April. I always do that when I get a bit down about it.

How is your wee one doing Positive? I have wanted to ask for a few days but didn't want to in case it wasn't good news you didn't want to share xxx.

Some really good news today. Sisters ct and mri scans were clear of any other cancer anywhere else. Just in the thyroid. She is having surgery for a partial removal of thyroid and lymph nodes on Friday but looking positive for a good prognosis for now. Thank the fucking lord!

OwlinaTree · 28/09/2016 20:39

That's great news frouby.

ALemonyPea · 28/09/2016 20:41

That's brilliant news Frouby!

Mummyme87 · 28/09/2016 21:08

2nd weigh in and. 2lb loss, got me my 1/2 stone award 😊

maygirl · 28/09/2016 21:32

Great to hear Frouby!

Went to group, 1 pound gain.
Food today
B eggs and tomatoes
L m+s tandoori prawns 2 syns, roast veg and salad
HeB hi fi bars, heA milk in 1 coffee and a cocoa, 1 syn for powder.
D slow cooker chicken, new potatoes, veggies. Chutney 2 syns
Penguin 5.5 syns.
Total 10.5 syns
Bootcamp class at gym.
BMI 28.3 so not good yet, but I know look and feel slim at BMI 26, so aiming for 9 stone 7 even though still overweight for my height. Thinking back to when I was slimmer I ate a lot of soup, so going to dig out some recipes. Been meaning to make pea and ham soup for ages. + scan bran, so also interested in the coffee cake recipe Positive!

ohnonotanother1 · 28/09/2016 21:55

Pls can I join? Went back to group today for the first time since May. I'm 7 weeks pregnant and weighing 1 stone more than the last time I was pregnant. By 7 months I was massive, in pain and immobile so I'm hoping to quell the gains early on. Only problem is I'm feeling awful and can only eat dry carbs so not sure how successful I'm going to be. Wasnt ill at all last time so I am hoping the queasiness disappears soon and I can eat more fruit and veg!
