Coffee cake recipe:

60g wheatbran or 5 scanbran blitzed
3 eggs
Sweetener
2Tbsp Fromage frais
1 Tbsp coffee dissolved in small amount of boiled water
1 teaspoon of baking powder (0.5 syn)

I whisk the egg whites to stiff peak and mix everything else together. Fold in the egg whites and cook.
Also its good when I use cocoa instead of coffee (syn the cocoa - still incredibly low syns for the whole cake)
Second half is wrapped up for me to scoff tomorrow.

Good news about your sister, Frouby and thanks for asking about our tiny scrap. He is doing ok. Still very up and down, and he is being treated for a gut infection at the moment. He may need more major surgery, but wasn't strong enough to have it, so trying to get him stronger and then decide if he needs it or not. (Unless his intestine ruptures again, then they would do emergency surgery) Every time I start to think that he might make it and be ok we seem to get a set back. It really is taking just one day at a time, although he will be 6 weeks old tomorrow!! (so equivalent to 31weeks +5 days gestation) So proud of how DD is coping with it all. She's doing really well.

College tonight and I am feeling a bit brain dead now.

ApollO88 · 28/09/2016 22:40

2lbs off, for my 1/2 stone award!

OwlinaTree · 28/09/2016 22:43

Well done on the awards Apollo and mummy.

OwlinaTree · 28/09/2016 22:48

Welcome ohno, that's why I've joined, to lose my baby weight. My daughter is 7 weeks tomorrow and I really struggled with the pregnancy this time, only wanted to eat carby stuff and really craved sweet things. Unfortunately I've gained lots of weight. Hoping the sw diet and breastfeeding will help me lose it again. I'm sure you keeping an eye on your weight throughout will mean you don't end up with this problem! I reckon I have about 3 to lose really!

tabulahrasa · 28/09/2016 23:08

"Can anyone tell me - there is no advantage to the consultant when people get to their awards is there?"

No, there's no bonuses for awards.

noodlezoodle · 29/09/2016 02:36

Frouby that's such good news, you must feel so relieved. Hope everything goes well for your sister on Friday.

PositiveAttitude · 29/09/2016 06:53

Thank you tabulahrasa

ALemonyPea · 29/09/2016 07:42

6 weeks already Positive? Goodness that's flown. Glad to hear he is ok, hope he doesn't need an operation.

I was looking at scan bran recipes on Pinterest last night, there was a ginger cake on there, I will have to try make it as love ginger cake.

emwithme · 29/09/2016 08:46

Firstly, welcome newbies and WELL DONE LOSERS!

Redpony you're in the same situation as me. DH and I are discussing when my coil is coming out, we're taking folic acid (or will be once the doctor calls me back today to confirm whether I need the higher level). I also lost 5 stone in 2010/11 (2 stone before SW, 3 stone with SW) to get to where I wanted for my wedding and managed to keep 4 of that off...until I didn't. I went back to SW last June (2015), 4 months before my best friend's wedding, 2 stone heavier than when I stopped doing it. I am now 8.5 lbs from target and bought my first pair of size 12 jeans in 20 years last week.

I eat the SW way but track portion sizes on MFP - May in terms of tracking on there, I have loads of stuff set up as "recipes" (even down to the chopped up veggies I have on salad for lunch in the week) so I just pick it up from there; it takes a bit of time the first time I cook something but after that it's there ready and waiting. It helps that DH is a creature of habit so we pretty much rotate the same dozen meals or so!

Oriana hasn't that 28 weeks gone quickly! I remember when you announced on here, so pleased to hear it's all going well.

Also, yay for Tiny Positive and FroubySis

Positive I'm actually really enjoying being back at college; we have a different tutor this year and her teaching style seems to suit me far better. Plus, we're doing the two Management Accounting units so all it's been so far is basically sums. And Y8 level sums (percentages, fractions, indices etc) at that. I bloody love sums. I used to do quadratic equations and simultaneous equations for fun, FFS. I haven't been doing much outside the classroom yet - still waiting for the new workbooks to arrive from Osborne Books but when they do, I shall have lots of fun with them!

I am in my usual pre-weigh in "what if I've gained it all back" panic right now. I don't know why I feel like this, I've been on plan all week, if I'd been eating badly it would be different but I get so nervous before I step on the scales, even at this stage of the journey. At least this week I've managed to have my poo in good time so I'm not stressing about that too!

Today's planned food (SP day):

Breakfast after WI: Eggy muffins
Lunch: Ham salad, apple, pear, satsumas
Pre-college snack: Ryvita and cottage cheese
Mid-college break snack: Eggy muffins
Dinner: Prawn stir fry
HEA: Milk
Other HEB: Hifi bars.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 29/09/2016 08:52

Second weigh in this morning (I'm online, so doing it at home), lost 0.6kg, so that's 2.5kg in total over two weeks. I haven't been as strict with myself this week, so I need to watch that, the novelty wears off quickly!

PA - lovely to find you here, I'm glad DD and DGS are doing OK, fingers crossed for him continuing to grow stronger and fight off the infection. I think my slowcooker was purchase was partly due to your influence, it has fallen into disuse recently, I should get it out again. I find it overcooks things if I leave it on all day though, too hot. What make is yours?

I need to sit down today and do a bit of menu planning/shopping for the weekend. I'm struggling a bit with the main meals (my fussy family, busy evenings and my own dislike of potatoes are thwarting my efforts a bit and are also some of the reasons why I got fat in the first place). I'm doing ok with lunches, breakfasts and snacks though and have pretty well used up my pre SW stocks of full fat mayo, yogurt etc to be replaced by lower fat versions.

PositiveAttitude · 29/09/2016 09:24

Hi Whoknows My slowcooker was a wedding present 28 years ago. I remember nearly selling it still in its box after about 5 years of marriage!! I think it's a "Tower" one, but I am not sure cos it is so ancient all the writing is rubbed off it. I have read other people say that theirs overcooks, but mine never has. I am really nervous about having to buy a replacement at some point. Mine has been used so much. During the winter it is at least 4 times a week and summer probably twice a week. Some weeks I use it every day.
Well done on the loss.

missmillimentscardigan · 29/09/2016 10:10

Hello! I've not been very good at keeping up with this thread, but I've been doing SW for 4 weeks and hoping to get my half stone award tonight at wi. So I've been pretty slow at losing compared with some people, but, as long as I see a loss every week, I'm happy with that.
Am wearing a pair of size 12 (very stretchy, am def not a size 12 yet!) jeans I haven't been able to wear since before I was pregnant with dc2 who is now a year old, so that feels great! Have put my size 16s at the back of the wardrobe.
Well done to all the losers!
I've just had a couple of turkey bacon rashers ( look a bit weird but quite nice) with a fried tomato on a piece of whole meal bread as an open sandwich and that was a pretty good breakfast actually. Am really trying to change the way I eat and how much I eat, as was eating huge portions before and I generally have a big appetite. Was quite amazed when I weighed out 35g of muesli the first time. I was having at least double that before.
Also, positiveattitude - I've just read that you have a premature dgs in hospital at the moment. My ds was born at 27 weeks and is now 3.5. If your dd would like to speak /email with anyone whose been through a similar experience I would be happy to offer some support. I know what a frightening and isolating experience it can be.

froubylou · 29/09/2016 10:18

Morning all

thank you for your good wishes everyone. Just one more risk in that the thyroid cancer is a treatable one which we will hopefully know tomorrow then we can relax a little and focus on getting her better.

Been and played with my baby pony this morning which has blown the cobwebs away a little. She is so cuddly, like a giant Shetland pony that you can't possibly feel stressed around her. Need to clean her bridle then I can hopefully start some proper work with her next week which equals body magic! so that's good for sw.

Todays plan

B. Coffee
L. Possibly hm soup from the freezer
t. Meat and potato pie (minus the pastry for me), veg

b choice will be hifi. managed to get a box of coconut ones yesterday!

emwithme · 29/09/2016 10:51

Well bugger I down dead (as they say down here in Zummerzet). Lost 2 lbs, and got my 3.5 stone award.

ALemonyPea · 29/09/2016 12:06

Well done Em. How much you got to target now?

I love my slow cooker, I make loads of stuff in it in the winter. Made pulled pork in it at the weekend. Delicious.

B: fruit, yoghurt
D: cheesy HEA scrambled eggs on toast HEB, mushrooms, packet of pufts
T: SW BBQ chicken, rice

Going to pics with DH tonight, so taking. Packet of popcorn with me and a bottle of Coke zero

TheImprobableGirl · 29/09/2016 12:30

has a day off plan yesterday, so picking it right back up again today- going to keep syns at a minimum (still aiming for a minimum of 30 across the other 6 days) for the rest of the week.

I'm a bit stuck with a roast chicken i bought from coop- it was reduced to £2 so I bought it to cook, shred and eat in a curry and for salad. Would the chicken be free (obviously I've removed all skin and fatty lookin bits) but it was still cooked in its own juice? Don't want to sabotage the rest of the week!!

OrianaBanana · 29/09/2016 12:30

Hi ohno I'm struggling back on the wagon at 28 weeks so well done for being so determined so early! I found with the nausea and exhaustion it was very difficult to plan or eat anything vaguely SW friendly - I just ate what I could - but toast and apples were always good. Eggs were right out!

Put on a pound last night - so difficult to know what I should be doing but if I can be on-plan then I can't go too far wrong so I'm on it this week!

B - chocolate Weetabix w. milk (HExA1 and HExB1), coffee
L - mugshot, muller light, apple
D - SW-friendly spag bol with hidden carrots/peppers etc. in it and broccoli. Strawberries.
S - banana, 2 x hifi lights (HExB2), 2 x babybels (HExA2), satsumas

TheImprobableGirl · 29/09/2016 12:35

If anyone has an insight to the chicken question id be very grateful, my tummy is starting to rumble and it's all cooked and waiting for me!

That looks like a really unappetising photo hahaha

Brontegirl1 · 29/09/2016 12:45

Only my second week now but struggling to make use of my Syns. Just don't feel hungry at the moment so don't know where to use them best. (Trying to avoid wine and cheese as those are my downfalls.) Do I need to have Syns everyday?

B: Overnight oats with peach and strawberries
L: Jacket with beans and a Muller fat free youghurt
D: Veggie chili with rice and side salad.
Grapes and a tangerine.

OrianaBanana · 29/09/2016 12:50

I think the chicken is fine TheImprobableGirl in fact I want to eat it all right now.

I eat roast chicken that's been cooked with skin, and just removed the skin/fatty bits afterwards. I count it as free.

TheImprobableGirl · 29/09/2016 12:55

Thanks oriana that's good enough for me

OrianaBanana · 29/09/2016 12:56
Grin
TheImprobableGirl · 29/09/2016 12:57

Maybe use your syns for a bigger portion of oats or something bronte
Unfortunately the 2 year old has a taste for the chicken too, so it's not going to do as many meals as previously thought Grin

TheImprobableGirl · 29/09/2016 13:16

How's your mugshot?
