Randomly, my choice when eating out is to have whatever I want , but "be good either side", so I would keep syns on the low side for other days.
You can have a flexible syn day, and get straight back on plan the following day.
Or you can make low-syn choices, and maybe check the menu online ahead.
The SW website has useful features about managing meals out.

ALemonyPea · 13/08/2016 19:57

Welcome newbies.

Waffleo, how on earth do you mange just on SP? I can do every other day, but my body craves carbs and I get headaches if I do longer than three days in a row.

Had a bit of a reality slap today. I've given my sister a load of my old clothes that are now too big for me. She is slightly heavier than what I was when I started SW. She wore one of the tops i gave her today and she looked huge. I can only imagine how big I just have looked, nearly 3'stone heavier than what I am now. It's spurred me on anyway.

Random, when I eat out, I look at the menu before I go out and select something that looks the most SW friendly. I also ask for salad instead of chips, or a jacket potato if I want it. Go for things without creamy sauces. Steak is always a good choice.

emwithme · 13/08/2016 21:53

Hello newbies and well done losers (and those who haven't lost too!)

WAFFLEO I also have fibro (as well as ME and EDS) and have also stopped Tramadol since I've been doing SW (although randomly I had to start on it the last time I was on SW back in 2011). Over the past year I've gone from about 35 tablets a day to 4 (two vitamin D, one multi-vitamin and one folate), have stopped needing a wheelchair for long distances (over 100m was long!), no longer need my smart crutches for any distance, and have gone back to work! Now I know it's not only SW (and the three stone I've lost) - a lot of it is the physio I've had - but it definitely helps.

Today's food:

Brunch: Bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomato
Dinner: Aromatic lamb bake (from the Extra Easy All In One book) with couscous and courgette. Was a lovely flavour, but a bit runny sauced why can't SW make a recipe that doesn't have a boatload of runny sauce with it Both DH and I really liked it, and it's easy enough to cook so it's being added to the rotation!
HEA: Milk
HEB: Hifi bars

Woooooo on plan tea! Jacket potato, ham, asparagus, salad, celery, radishes. 1 syn of mayo, 1.5 of Flora Buttery, 0.5 of piccalilli. Feeling good about today - 6.5 syns used and still have my HexB Grin

I'm just hoping that, unlike this morning, I can ahem use the bathroom tomorrow :-/

Randomly - if I'm eating an unplanned meal out, like today's lunch, I'll choose a low syn option. I review restaurants as part of my job, though, so I always book those meals for a Tues after weigh in, eat what I want and then reduce my syns to 5 a day for as long as I feel I need to before the next weigh in...

BELLAARA · 13/08/2016 22:57

Hi all, so pleased to have come across this thread. Have already e-snaffled a few recipies. I joined SW last week. Was dreading discovering what i weighed and asked my consultant if she would mind if i shut my eyes when on the scales and she would just write my weight in the book and close it. I wanted to look at it on my own. She duely did and I gingerly peeked when I got home. Felt pretty shocked when I saw the weight, and then utterly horrified when I realised that was actuals my Club 10 weight, and my actual weight was the figure above... anyway it has certainly acted as a wake up call and I'm sure I'll look back and laugh in my slimjim days to come. Feel this thread is going to be a real help, for both meal and personal inspiration.

PositiveAttitude · 14/08/2016 07:59

Welcome to all the newcomers on here.

I love reading all the positive, but real, stories online about how SW has helped people so much. It really keeps me focused and positive, so thank you all for sharing.

Aspergallus - I was going to SW for a month with DD1 before I even told DH for exactly the reason you had last night! After the month and only really because there had been a bit of a mix up with where I was when he thought I would be at home (DD4 lied to dad to give me a cover story, then it all got confusing when I contradicted her cover story. Once lies were involved I knew I had to come clean and tell him). He was fine about it......then within 48 hours when I was just about to eat something that he considered "bad" he said "should you be eating that?" Well, I am embarrassed to say that I totally flipped out!! I told him that was exactly why I had not felt I could tell him in the first place - he was not my food police - how dare he want to deprive me of something that I knew I could have - etc etc etc.....I ranted for a full 5 minutes while he sat silently (VERY unlike him) He apologised, said he would not do it again and he hasn't!! So I totally understand your frustrations!!

Family BBQ yesterday and I took along some Slimming world sausages and burgers. Dsis had put out lots of snacks on the tables and she said that one lot she had bought specially for us, they were low fat, but when I put them in the SW app I found them to be 8 syns per serving (I had only had a few by this time), so I decided they were not worth 8 syns, so palmed them off on my grandson who loved them! Wink
Dsis specialty is her luscious puddings. I so could have have about a million syns!! But I stuck with strawberries with a drizzle of chocolate sauce and came away feeling full, satisfied and pretty darn accomplished!!

Happy Sunday everyone. Grin

MollyRedskirts · 14/08/2016 10:17

I'M GOING OUT TONIGHT! Grin GrinGrin

ALemonyPea · 14/08/2016 14:42

Has anyone tried these yet? 2.5 syns. I've bought some, they're on offer at Tesco.

I've made myself a mock cheesecake for after tea tonight. Used a salted caramel hifi bar for the base, quark, sweetener and a chocolate options sachet for the filling and topped with strawberries. 2 syns. Hopefully will taste nice.

Missed breakfast
D: naked noodle pot, fruit, pufts (3.5 syns)
T: chicken casserole, mashed potato with hea philli, veg and faux cheesecake for pud (HEB)

EmilyK83 · 14/08/2016 15:39

Lemony, you tease...there's no pic! What have you bought...?

Today involves eating later than planned for every meal - in-laws are still here...

B - nectarine and ff natural yoghurt, HexB toast and marmite
HexA skinny latte when out for a walk
L - ham, new potatoes, salad
D - not sure. We won't be having lunch till 4! May just pick at a few syn-free bits later.

Still don't think I've lost anything this week. I've been on plan, so I'm not sure what's going on :-/

ALemonyPea · 14/08/2016 15:41

PinkOnWednesday · 14/08/2016 18:16

hi everyone, been following these threads for a while and they have helped motivate me to rejoin slimming world, so I was hoping it would be okay to join this thread to help keep me on track Smile
Tomorrow will be my first day and my food plan so far is
breakfast: black coffee
lunch: half couscous sachet (1 syn) with tomatoes, peppers, spinach and possibly homemade coleslaw (0.5 syns for EL mayo)
4pm snack: latte with 200ml skimmed milk (part healthy extra a), cherry tomatoes, possibly small bag of low syn popcorn (around 3 syns depending on type)
dinner: baked salmon fillet, steamed courgette and carrots

I need to fit my healthy extra b in somewhere, and I'll possibly have the remainder of my healthy extra a with another milky coffee. Does that sound okay? Sorry for all the questions Blush

chough · 14/08/2016 19:04

Hello, Pink.
Your food plan sounds tasty, but you could have more than just a black coffee for your breakfast, to keep your metabolism ticking over and to boost your weight loss.

wishingchair1 · 14/08/2016 21:25

Evening all.

Just popping in to say hi and record my eating plan.

My scan bran challenge ( or wheat bran since i can't get it ) seems ok. Basically using it as over night oats.

I think i am on day 3 of it. Certainly makes me feel full. I'm not particularly hungry until midday but trying to have it all for breakfast.

Yesterday i felt quite good, slimmer tummy etc but a bit freaked out about getting on the scales. (Mon am weigh in at home).

I have a week without toddlers and would love to try to spend time with oh. Nice restaurant etc but over stressing about short term / long term. Plus idea of £100 bill for a million syns is stressing me out.
On the otger hand i am trying to make a real stance that we need our time.

noodlezoodle · 14/08/2016 22:45

I'm not sure whether I'm sulking a bit or secretly really pleased. Was my official weigh in yesterday (online SW) and I had stayed the same, but when I sneakily weighed myself this morning I was 2lbs lighter. How? How is that possible?! Ah well I'll have to hope the missing 2lbs are still missing by official weigh in time.

Friday's mongolian beef was really good, if you're a fan of chinese food I'd recommend trying it and it was really quick to make as well.

Twinklestar2 · 14/08/2016 22:57

Are smoothies allowed on slimming world?

emwithme · 14/08/2016 23:36

Twinkle Smoothies are about a zillionty syns. Ridiculously high. It's because it's easy to over-eat (over drink?) when you're just swallowing. Take oranges for example. Most people will be either full or bored of peeling when it comes to more than a couple of oranges, but if you juiced the orange, you'd need at least 8 for a small glass. Same goes with smoothies. Far too easy to ingest more than you would need because it's easy to swallow. Now, saying that, one of the ladies at group has a smoothie every day - but she measured out the fruit that she would be able to eat in one sitting and blends it with her HEA milk (she drinks coffee black) and she's at target so it works for her. Apparently she started this when she had dental work but fancied some fruit and has carried it on since.

I've had a text from my consultant tonight and I've been nominated for Woman of the Year. I cried (I came on properly today!) and DH was all of a wotnot...I'd got a text and started blarting and he wondered who was dead!

Today's food:

Brunch: Bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomato
Snack: Apple, pear, satsumas
Dinner: Roast beef, roast potatoes, yorkies, carrot, cabbage, proper gravy (about 13 syns all together)
Snack: Trio (6 syns and a really annoying earworm)
HEA: Milk
HEB: Dried apricots.

Back to work tomorrow. Boss has been doing my job all week...wonder how screwed up things will be! Hopefully he'll have done enough to keep it ticking over but not actually done anything that wasn't strictly speaking necessary!

wishingchair1 · 15/08/2016 06:28

Have stopped sulking now and weighed in.
I think i pretty much have been on sw for a month. Have lost 12lbs. If i lose 3 more i will be back into a zone i recognise at least. Pleased with that as have been on holiday, so not been rigid at all.
As for wheat bran challenge, day 4 today. Certainly keeps me full.

Today think i will have
B. Wheatbran, muller light and strawberries
L. Not sure
D. Jp/ salad and ff cottage cheese.

Must keep up with water intake.

EmilyK83 · 15/08/2016 08:27

Those look good Lemony!

Still don't think I'm going to lose this week - not happy at all!

Today's plan:

B - porridge (HexB) and fruit
L - ham salad
D - spicy sausage and bean stew (1), loads of veg

Skinny latte as HexA.

Finished yesterday on 15.5 syns after an argument with dp, so clearly aiming for not as many today (and no arguing)

froubylou · 15/08/2016 08:39

Ugh. Has anyone found their tolerance for crap food has reduced since starting sw? We had a Chinese last night. Singapore rice, beef in black bean sauce and a spon full of chicken gun po or whatever it is. Didn't have a massive portion of anything.

Woke up at 12.30am with the most horrendous stomach cramps and spent 3 hours on the loo with my arse falling out. It's happened before after chinese food and also certain things from KFC.

I used to have the constitution of an ox and could eat anything I wanted. Now not so much and I am more sensitive than ever.

It's not a bad thing to not be able to eat shit food but I have loads to do today and still feel really crampy.

Anyway. Todays plan.

B. Coffee
L. Dunno. Depends how I feel. Probably fruit and yoghurt if anything.
T. Salmon, new potatoes and veg.

Welcome newbies and good luck to those Wi today!

WingDefence · 15/08/2016 10:20

Hi - so sorry to have gone AWOL! I was disappointed after only losing a lb last week so whilst I didn't go off plan horrendously, I got into a headspace where I didn't want to come and chat. Soz :(

I baked a lot of Friday (I was on brew duty at church yesterday) and was sure I'd put on this week as I ate too many 'tasters' of brownies, flapjacks, blackberry & apple slice but I lost 1.5lbs, finally getting my 2 stone award and now only 2lbs from target! Grin I have my SW mojo back!!

So what have I missed? :)

EmilyK83 · 15/08/2016 10:30

Yep am the same frouby. Guess it's a good thing really?

Hi Wing - well done on the loss this week! Ahhhhh so close to target - you'll be there in no time!! Still 5lb to go for me, my scales haven't budged all week but went and weighed myself at Boots this morning and they say a pound down - am keeping everything crossed for tomorrow morning that's right!

Sixpencenonethericher · 15/08/2016 10:59

Morning all I've had four days of alcohol birthday cake meals but out etc ( it was my birthday ) I've got my period and I've put on 5 pound
Weigh day is Thursday but I've had a brilliant time back on it now

maygirl · 15/08/2016 12:11

Been over synning this weekend, DS's bday and house full of cake and sweets, relatives down and we had wine too. Did SW meals but def not on plan between meals. Think being pissed off after last weeks weigh in didn't help! Hope get mojo back soon!
Well done Wing, so close now!!
Welcome newbies!

ALemonyPea · 15/08/2016 12:41

Well done on the nomination Em!

Well done Wing, you're so close! I still have 4 stone to go 😭

Bit of an odd day today. Ve been to the hospital, not had the greatest news, but hopefully I'll stay on plan, would normally reach out to food, trying to stay in the zone. Got travel sick on the bus on the way home, so don't really have an appetite.

Having an SP day today.

B: fruit and hifi car for 1st HEB
D: cottage cheese and gherkins wrapped in ham, pickled onions, carrots, hea cheese on 4 tuc crackers (4 syns)
T: SW beef stew ready meal with added veg

Probably have another hifi bar or apricots for my other HEB
