EmilyK83 · 11/08/2016 09:12

Em, despite the fact I've lived in Bristol for 7 years, I've never ventured to Clarks Village - I need to rectify that! Good luck for w/i!

puppydogmummy · 11/08/2016 09:25

Puppydogs partner and stepson and puppy dog are meat eaters so recipes are always welcome!Smile

emwithme · 11/08/2016 12:14

Well I don't know how that happened but I lost 2 lbs and so I'm back to my pre-holiday weight! (Actually, I do know...I was super-good last week and disappointed to only lose half, and I've been on plan 75% this week although the 25% has been really off plan so it's all added up)

Might be going out for dinner with DH tonight. He is not sure he wants sausages now...I've told him he's got until 4 to decide because if he wants sausages I need to go to a supermarket.

EmilyK83 · 11/08/2016 12:55

Whoop whoop! Well done Em!

user1470856329 · 11/08/2016 13:22

Hey guys hope you don't mind if I join in? Iv been doing slimming world for 14 weeks hope to get my 3stn award tmrw. I was just wondering I have been nominated for women of year my self and another lovely girl from our group. I was just wondering if any bigger girls get it? I have a loooonng way to go and feel it's maby to.soon to win such a lovely award x

ALemonyPea · 11/08/2016 13:31

Well done Em! All the walking must have helped. Sometimes a big change in food gives your weight loss a bit of a boost as well.

User, well done with the nomination and the weight loss. I'm hoping to get my 3 stone award next week as well. Not sure about who wins woman of the year as not been at group for one yet, but good luck. Don't see what your size has to do with it, everyone who goes to SW wants to lose weight and they shouldn't judge.

ALemonyPea · 11/08/2016 13:33

Pressed enter too soon.

Tries the Sweetcorn chowder soul today, didn't like it, it's too over spiced, like most of their meals. So annoying as I really like soup.

B: fruit and yoghurt
D: SW soup, three slices crustless Brad for HEB
Snack: 6 tuc crackers (6 syns) and hea cheese
T: jacket potato and beans

Going to Clubbercise later, been a few weeks since Ive gone, but looking forward to it.

user1470856329 · 11/08/2016 13:33

Thank-you Al. I just wasn't sure. Well done on your loss also that's fantastic xx

chough · 11/08/2016 14:37

user, when I was at group this week and we were writing our nominations for Woman of the Year, the consultant said to choose someone who had lost weight in the last year.
You sound like a good contender, with your 3 stone loss: it doesn't matter at all that you still have a way to go.
Good luck.

Unthoughtknown · 11/08/2016 14:41

2.5lbs on bloody gutted! Have been horrendously bloated so might weigh in on Tuesday next week instead to see if it evaporates. Many thanks Emilyk for slimming world pâté suggestion it went down a storm and I'm Deffo making it again

waitingforwombat · 11/08/2016 18:00

I've been a bit quiet recently - birthday parties, holidays etc. Had mw appt today, and at nearly 30 weeks my weight gain since booking is 2.5kg! Feeling really pleased especially as had lost mojo a bit with lots of being off plan.

Just goes to show that even if not following plan exactly making better choices helps damage limitation (eg lots of BBQs recently and have taken salads/marinated chicken/jacket pots and avoiding burger buns and sausages). Hoping this means maintaining is an actual possibility!

wishingchair1 · 11/08/2016 18:27

Hi, hoping i can hop on the thread for some advice. I was doing sw last year and did really well. Scales broke mid last year and didn't replace. Replaced the scales thinking i would have a blast again before my holiday. I had put on over a stone and a half. I didn't really even realise. Anyway, back off holiday but want to shift it all and get focused again.
I have been reading up on scan bran so thought i would try and speed food and that. Went to holland and barrett, they have discontinued it. So my real question is, i have bought a bag of neal's yard natural wheat bran. The calories seem the same. Do you think using 50g of this would be inc in heb insteas of the scan bran?

PositiveAttitude · 11/08/2016 18:50

User the lady who won our woman of the year had actually been a member previously and had lost 6stone, she left last year and has returned 7 stone heavier than she left at!!!! Shock I feel she was nominated to encourage her as she had been brave in coming back after a reasonably short amount of time to put on such a massive amount! I have been going for 7 weeks now......first week I was gobsmacked that she had lost 10lb in a week!! Then for 5 weeks she put on way more than the 10lb she had taken off, this week she had lost another 9lb. Hmm

During tasters I was fairly amused that one "old timer" seemed totally perplexed that her offering of a cherry cake was not actually very good for slimming world. She had not understood that cooked cherries had to be synned and she thought that by putting half sweetener and half sugar she had made it all syn free!! Consultant was a bit Shock The someone else had made banana pancakes - 8 syns each!!!! And they were tiny!! I think the consultant despairs of these people - they sit every week and wonder why they have sts or only lost a little, or gone up a bit! I can see why now!!

Wishingchair You can get scan bran online from H & B and at the moment it is buy one and get a second for 1p.
I have a confession to make - I ordered shedloads of scan bran online and paid, collected the order the next day - then got an email to say that because I had not collected it I would be refunded the money. The email sent was from a do-not-reply email address. Now, being on Mumsnet I should say that I will give the money to charity, or return it somehow......bugger that. I have a carrier bag full of scan bran and money been returned. Blush

MollyRedskirts · 11/08/2016 18:52

Hi Wishingchair.

I've looked it up on the SW app for you. It is actually listed a healthy extra - 60g. It also has it listed as 2.5 syns for 25g.

MollyRedskirts · 11/08/2016 19:13

Haha, Positive. I think I'd do the same.

We have a few like that in my group. There was one woman who was type two diabetic and kept moaning that she couldn't eat anything, but her doctor said SW was good for diabetics so she'd joined. I had gestational diabetes and I was prediabetic (no longer thanks to the weight I've lost), so I asked her what type of things she liked to eat, and maybe I could help her work out the carbs in a few recipes. I got the reply of 'Nah, thanks, but I can't be bothered with all that, it's why I'm here.' Then she asked what cake we could have. I'm not exactly sure what she was expecting - that she could join, eat cake, and it somehow wouldn't matter because it was on plan?

EmilyK83 · 11/08/2016 19:24

Hi user - an amazing loss like that definitely warrants nomination!

Unthought - hoping for you that it's just the bloating and that you'll have a great loss next week! Glad the pate went down well too!

Not sure about the wheat bran wishing - definitely worth asking in group.

One of the nominees in our group keeps losing and gaining the same few pounds, she's getting so frustrated. But she stays to group every week and genuinely wants to lose - think the criteria for nominations are that it has to be someone who inspires you - so her nomination makes sense!

wishingchair1 · 11/08/2016 19:54

Thanks for looking that up.

Positive, left work early today to go into h and b because of penny offer. They said the had terminated with the supplier for some reason. Lots of complaints apparently that they aren't selling it. Tried online thiis evening and that said no stock.

Thanks molly, 60g is quite a lot of it, so presuming it is pretty much like scan bran but blitzed up. It was really cheap. 99p for 750g. Had most of it in a pineapplr muller light.

Have whizzed up a pea, mint and brocolli soup for the rest.

If anyone has any great vegetarian pates to share. I often work late so end up eating late. I am trying to almost reverse my meals so dinner for breakfast. I often get so busy don't eat all day and then by 10pm think whatever is in the fridge. Which is often cheese and crackers.

PositiveAttitude · 11/08/2016 20:05

Oh dear, perhaps the "no Stock" is because they are all hiding in my dining room!! Grin

ALemonyPea · 11/08/2016 20:25

Wishing, if you're desperate for scran bran, I don't mind buying it at group and posting it to you.

My jacket potato and beans turned into chinese takeaway. Had chicken in black bean sauce for 7.5 syns with plain rice. Only ate half the rice though.

I'm in awe of anyone who is pregnant and doing SW. I couldn't have done this diet when pregnant with any of my DC, I had terrible MS the first 5 or so months so ate whatever I could keep down.

wishingchair1 · 11/08/2016 20:50

Lemony, thanks. I'm not by any means desperate for it. I have had lots of travelling time to be reading about good weight losses. (12hrs airport) it seemed my miracle start point and like the holy grail to then not be able to buy it.
I'm sure the stuff i have got is fine anyway. I'm a savoury person anyway so not fussed about cake making with it.
I shall let you know how my 5 day challenge goes on. The stuff gets bad reviews but i quite like it.

user1470856329 · 11/08/2016 23:35

Thank-you chough xx

froubylou · 12/08/2016 07:00

Morning all

Forgot to post yesterday. Had a morrisons salad for lunch, with a bit of cous cous and a bit of a chicken and chickpea thing on it. Then lamb rump, mash and roast potatoes, veg and gravy for tea. ForGot my b choice though. But the cous cous had some sort of.oil on it so am counting that as my old school B choice! Rebel me.

Today we are out for the day and taking a picnic. Will have a wholemeal roll with ham, some fruit and possibly a bag of quavers or something. Then it's flexible friday tea of a takeaway Indian and alldagin!

EmilyK83 · 12/08/2016 11:25

Enjoy the picnic frouby!

Today's plan for me:

B - fruit
L - tuna, chickpea, red pepper and caper salad
D - some kind of fish with baby potatoes and veg

Skinny latte as HexA. Probably Alpen Lights as HexB. Boring, I know...

EmilyK83 · 12/08/2016 11:26

And no idea about syns. Finished yesterday on 12 - was hoping for fewer, but I had to work late and needed the sugar. Hopefully not as many today...
