Hope Calzone doesn't mind me starting the new thread- we've run out of room- eek!

Me new thing for this week has been cauliflower rice. Filling, doesn't taste too bad with strong flavours like chilli or curry but boy does it stink!

I actually logged my gain , I've never done that before I always just hope it goes away but I have to take responsibility for my actions!

In other news , he already fired the girl replacing me! I am so glad to be starting fresh next week, my lodger is also moving out today so I plan to turn her room into my gym.

New life begins!

OrianaBanana · 28/04/2016 09:23

Well I planned to be good today but I'm just so HUNGRY already!

B - overnight oats with berries, small decaf flat white (HExA)
S - pear, orange
L - smoked salmon and prawn speed salad, olive oil dressing (2)
D - speedy prawn curry (lots of prawns today), rice, whatever veg I can find
S - hifi lights (HExB), fruit, probably more snacky things which may involve second portions of Hexes (like cheese on Ryvita) if I need them - probably better to eat them than rubbish. Generally I'm trying to use syns now for 'healthier things' when I can (olive oil, avocado) but I'm aware my new resolution is not yet half a day old! I'm hoping the continuous low level nausea (I don't really fancy anything) will help.

I have thrown away the last of the Stilton Sad I felt bad for eating it anyway.

ALemonyPea · 28/04/2016 09:58

I'm fed up. Having such a great day, doing well, eating properly, and come 8pm I am ready for a binge. I've not given into it (yet). So frustrating. Don't know what's wrong with me.

Well done on the loss Calzone.

B: breakfast muffins and turkey bacon
D: SW steak bake, chips and broccoli/cauli
T: chinese takeaway, which will be as low syn as possible, so probably chicken in black bean sauce with plain rice.

lonerboner · 28/04/2016 11:07

What does everyone use Quark for?

When I try it with a sauce it splits?

HelenF35 · 28/04/2016 11:13

To use quark as a sauce just stir it through at the very end of cooking. I did it the other day with muscle food 'southern fried chicken', yellow pepper, onion done in fry light then stirred in quark and a bit of cheese from my healthy extra at the end. It was absolutely delicious.

EmilyK83 · 28/04/2016 11:50

I use quark for quiche instead of cottage cheese - tastes so much nicer!

Lemony - I'm one for evening snacking, and have found a few ways to make sure I don't binge...

  • if I have dinner later than I used to pre-SW, I'm generally too full to binge
  • I save my HexB for Alpen Lights/Hifi bars and have those in the evening as a sweet treat
  • I save my syns till the evening so I know I can have a treat if I want it

Seems to be working so far...

ALemonyPea · 28/04/2016 13:24

Thanks. I only had 6 syns yesterday, trying to keep them for the weekend.

I didn't enjoy my tea last night either, I was in a right mood afterwards. Probably why I wanted to binge.

I just keep repeating 'it's only food' over again, trying not to be ruled by it.

Ohmiigod · 28/04/2016 14:26

trinitybleu · 28/04/2016 14:58

Going out with friends tonight and they've book an Indian.... what's best? Was thinking chicken tikka and boiled rice. Maybe a poppadom or 2 (4 syns each??) Have had a minor op and 2 other procedures today so will need to resist the temptation to say screw it and dive headfirst into a naan ...

ALemonyPea · 28/04/2016 14:59

Week done! What ana amazing first week for you.

justamo · 28/04/2016 15:12

0.5lb on. Not as bad as I feared. I went for a 5 mile run this morning which got my insides moving (sorry for tmi), I think that stopped the gain being far worse. Blush

EmilyK83 · 28/04/2016 15:26

Well done Ohmiigod - that's amazing!

And just - you'll lose that and more next week I'm sure!

Trinity - have a look in the back of the book, in the syns section - there's tons of info on syns for different Indian restaurant dishes...

KittyOShea · 28/04/2016 15:54

Wow ohmii that's fantastic! I may have had about 8 cocktail sausages and a mini sausage roll at a buffet today at work Blush but I'm just going to pretend it didn't happen...

Sixpence would it be worth you buying some SW ready meals for the days your husband is getting ready meals? They're really nice, and very easy to do. If he cooks, he should be supporting you, not buying takeaways.

BoogieTime · 28/04/2016 16:36

Hi all,

I have joined online this week and I'm just trying to get my head around it all. For a start, I wish that the app had a good tracker on it, as it is in writing things down on a piece of paper and inputting it all on my laptop at the end of the day which is a bit of a pain!

Anyway, I have a couple of things that I'm trying to understand.

It says a third of my plate should be super free foods like veg. Let's imagine you had a dinner just with carbs and meat, and had a big bowl of fruit salad afterwards, would that be ok? Not that I'm planning that, I'm just trying to understand the concept!

Also for a quick snack I like to have some ham on its own. Is that not ok, do I also need to have fruit/veg at the same time?

Thanks for your help Smile

BoogieTime · 28/04/2016 16:37

I'm, not in!

BoogieTime · 28/04/2016 16:53

EmilyK I've just been reading the posts and you mention putting 15 syns of chocolate etc in a bowl at the end of the day. I love that idea but wonder how you manage to get through the day without spending any syns? I seem to spend half my allowance just on regular recipes let alone on treats!!

ALemonyPea · 28/04/2016 17:17

I do that with fruit afterwards sometimes Boogie, if I'm having something like chips and beans.

What are you spending your syns on? I can get through a whole day without using them, you just have to be savvy.

Buttwing · 28/04/2016 17:41

Hi all ohmi that's an amazing first week you must be so pleased!

Boogie you need to be a bit careful the point of the third speed food is that it stops you eating as much of the other food. If you are eating a big plate of say sausage and mash with out any veg, you will have a larger portion than if you eat it with a third veg and then a bowl of fruit on top you end up eating more and just for the sake of it.
If I'm having something that struggle to have a third veg with say spag Bol I would add as much veg to the sauce and just leave it at that. Some people at my group make a veg soup and have it as a starter. That would work as obviously it fills you up and would stop you eating as much unless you're greedy like meWink

I'm having an ee day today, two days on sp were enough for me! Plus I'm due on and it's all about the carbs!

B-melon and mango
L-baked potato beans and bacon and salad
D-gammon egg chips and peas

KittyOShea · 28/04/2016 17:45

Snap with the hormones and needing food butt. Hence cocktail sausage fest earlier- at least that's my excuse anyway Grin

OP posts:
EmilyK83 · 28/04/2016 18:20

Hi Boogie - what Butt says re: speed food! It's designed to replace some of the non-speed food, rather than being eaten on top of normal portions...

It's really easy not to use syns during the day - so for breakfast I'll often have fat free yoghurt and fruit, lunch will be homemade soup (pretty much just veg and stock, blitzed up together) or picky bits from the fridge - chopped beg, ham, hardboiled eggs, pickles etc. And there are tons of syn-free dinner recipes too, take a look at the website and you'll find loads!

I don't use things like butter, and I drink herbal teas during the day so I don't end up using milk - I just have a takeaway skinny latte or some cheese with lunch or dinner as my HexA. And for my HexB, I'll often have 2 Alpen Light bars, which I save as a treat in the evening...

Maybe if you post a day's worth of meals we can see where you use syns and how you could cut them out?

justamo · 28/04/2016 18:57

Boogie, I'm by no means an expert, still grappling with the plan myself but the basics of the plan are that if you put the third of speed food on your plate first you are naturally limiting the space for the carbs and meat so reducing the calorie content of the meal. It is not a food combining thing. Don't have the fruit / veg afterwards because you feel you have to but because you are hungry and want to. Hth

justamo · 28/04/2016 18:59

Whoops I hadn't refreshed the page and see that Butt and Emily have put it so much more succintly

emwithme · 28/04/2016 19:55

I did it...got the lb off that means I am now 2 1/2 stone lighter Grin

What an excellent first week Omii

I am a bit annoyed tonight because I was meant to have an assessment at college but due to "technical issues" it has been postponed, probably to next week. The only issue with that is that I reward myself after assessments with fish, chips and curry sauce from the chippy. And now I can't have it, and I've been drooling thinking about it for days

So I came home and made a SW lemon drizzle cake instead. Had half of it slightly warm and may well have some more later.

Today's food:

Breakfast (after WI): Breakfast muffins
Lunch: Tuna pasta salad, apple, pear, satsumas
Post-work snack: Meatballs, cherry tomatoes, carrots. CAKE (4 syns)
Dinner: Lemon & pepper chicken breast, jersey potatoes, carrots, green beans
HEA: Milk
HEB: Hifi bars

EmilyK83 · 28/04/2016 20:16

Well done em - that's brilliant!! Grin
