Welcome coffee......

Fill up on speed vegetables like salad, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage etc make sure a third of your plate is filled with vegetables.

Make sure the food is food you like to eat.

Meal plan and Google recipes eg SW lasagne, SW meatballs, SW chicken Kiev

Use spray oil

Enjoy the plan!

I have lost 3 stone in a year and not given up yet. :)

calzone · 24/01/2016 21:49

Hi I'm new to sw and this thread .
I'm really struggling ! Am craving cream and cheese so much it actually kept me awake last night - felt agitated!!!
Also my Dh doesn't like the low cal spray and has been asking me to cook seperate for myself and he has volunteered to cook for dc .tbe thing is we both can't get to the Cooker at once so meAltimes are bonkers .
He has tonight suggested I give up two weeks in and just have what the family have for tea - using olive oil .then miss out other meals such as creamy garlic pasta .
Help !
Has anyone else had similar issues ?
I also like a tipple of gin so I need to save Syns .
I did well the first two weeks , now feel 😔Any tips welcome .
Ps I have Bach cooked for myself seperate meals so far .

ginorwine · 24/01/2016 22:22

Batch cooked since y day I mean since struggling to both cook seperate meals .

FannyFanakapan · 24/01/2016 22:38

ginowine, have a look for the spray bottles of olive oil - 7 squirts for a syn I believe. Then you can say you are using olive oil....just not as much.

You can always use a tsp of oil - just syn the whole dish for a syn, then divide by the number of portions.

I found that I found my equilibrium and found myself cooking differently - i tend to do the exact same meals as before, and then make mine slightly differently - so my lasagne will have mince and pasta, but with cauliflower sauce, hex A cheese etc. The mince is SW friendly.

Its just wrapping your head around it all, and I think its important not to save up all your syns for naughty treats, but rather to use some in your main meals, so you dont feel deprived.

cowboylover · 24/01/2016 23:01

Hello all and welcome to the newbies!

Today I really felt like I was craving chocolate and usually I would try not to give in until it builds up then totally explodes in a massive way so I syned 25g of Thornton's Santa for 6, chilled it down and got a comfy seat then loved every bit of it so was well worth doing. To think the amount of times before I was has walloped down a Mars or something without even thinking about it or enjoying!

B; Bacon and Egg in HEB bread
L; Stew with mash and loads of speed veg
D; Herb crusted pork with Apple mash potato and leek which was delicious and will do again! Maybe some different greens though as my plate looks pale. With blueberries and Mullerlight banana custard for pudding.

8 syn day

Hi gino, could you try cooking the meals SW style then drizzling the family's with a bit of olive oil if DH really likes the taste?! Or is it that he doesn't think lo cal spray is healthy? I prefer the spray olive/rapeseed oils to frylight, but often I won't use either, onions and veg can be 'fried' off in a bit of water/stock. I sometimes add butter to the DCs veg after removing mine, my DD (6) is super skinny and loves butter!
Do you like squirty cream? its not too high in syns. I think its important to find a way to make SW work for you without feeling deprived!

How about family meals which don't need oil too, jacket potatoes, baked fish/chicken portions, low syn sausages- family can have regular ones.
Its tricky at first but it quickly gets easier as you build up ideas from group and threads like this one Smile

emmaluvseeyore · 25/01/2016 07:46

Oops, gained 1 kg this week. Not surprised as we didn't plan our meals at all and ended up eating Dominos twice because we were too busy/tired to cook. I was away on Brownie Holiday this weekend too, so was completely off plan. It could have been a lot worse! Back on it today!

ginorwine · 25/01/2016 07:52

Thank you very much !
Dh doesn't like the light spray as he likes the olive oil for taste but also thinks it's a good fat and good for Heath .
He does a lot or Thai food , stir fry and spag bols etc .
I'm also vegi
So I've come up with a plan to use half he on cheese each day - and use he b for bread as I'm craving both like mad ! Or cheese and wine synned .
I could have what Dh cooks mon and tue if he uses one tablespoon its 6 Syns between 4 so one and half for me in a portion ? Then on wed we have chips so I can do sw chips , then I can cook rest of week - Dh likes cooking - sw things like fake always ? Saus mash - veg ones for me etc !
Thanks all was feeling quite panicky and the family said my mood was terrible - which it was - and to give up !!!!!!! 😳

BasinHaircut · 25/01/2016 08:01

ginorwine olive oil is only healthier than other oils in its raw state. If you cook with it then it is in fact worse for you than a bit of basic rapeseed oil as it can't stand up to high temps and the 'goodness' is destroyed.

EmilyK83 · 25/01/2016 11:32

This weekend was a bit of a nightmare with MIL's birthday - a lunch out and a home cooked meal for 10 that included small amounts of cheese, meringue, cream and chocolate cake...was sensible where I could be! And somehow didn't drink at all...

Back on it with a vengeance today. Meals as follows:

B - fruit and fat free yoghurt
L - salad with whatever's in the fridge
D - chicken supreme (recipe from SW website) with butternut squash noodles (ready-made from M&S, and either salad or spinach.

SP day before weigh in tomorrow, so probably two small wholemeal rolls for lunch for my HexBs, and a small skinny latte for my HexA...

Wibblewobble100 · 25/01/2016 12:45

Thanks Calzone- 23 syns!!! But I knew pizza was high. I suspect a lot of that is "lack of fillingness" rather that actual calories, as the nutrition info says 450 calories which isn't too bad. It was lovely though! Well I'll see what happens at weight in!

WineAndIntrigue · 25/01/2016 13:51

Hi everyone! Had an awful week last week and found myself with a few too many glasses of wine in my hand on Thursday/Friday. Straight back on the wagon at the weekend though, hopefully onwards and upwards.

Food diary for yesterday:
B/L - Omelette with HexA cheese, HexB wholemeal thin with 2 syns cream cheese
D - Jacket potato with tuna and sweetcorn, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms on the side
Snacks - hot chocolate (Options - 2.5 syns with a splash of milk)

Food diary for today:
B - forgot to bring any
L - Jacket potato, beans, salad, HexA cheese
D - Omelette and chips or vegetable pasta bake - haven't decided yet!
Snacks - Apple, banana

wowser3 · 25/01/2016 13:51

today
Breakfast = overnight oats (HE B) with blackberries
L = a large tin of beans, yep , just beans, I felt like I couldn't stomach any speed food this afternoon , The thought of it was making me sick, didn't know what to eat.
D = sweet potato with salad and Tuna and laughing cow light (HE B)
Feeling a bit low today, been dreaming of eating cream cake. I'm feeling like I don't want fruit and veg, I just want pizza and a pasty.

Akire · 25/01/2016 14:09

B- grapefruit
L- bread hexa , spinach lettuce tomatoes cucumber 30g cheese hexb , scrap butter syn 1. Handful grapes, 2 satsumas
D- cauliflower potato bean curry thing from SW recipe with possible rice

Had sneak weigh in this morning on day 5. Lost about half a pound (but put on pound first week!) so if lucky may lose it be weigh in day. Feels like pushing stone uphill at moment.

I'm being really good only having 5-10syn day. Having plenty fruit n veg and meals are mostly 1/3 protein carbs veg so not like living off lettuce and chicken breast all day. Guess just setting self up not to be to disappointed if get back to where I started

Heyheyheygoodbye · 25/01/2016 15:11

Urgh. Sneaky mid-week weigh this morning (I KNOW I KNOW) and it's saying I've put on 3lb Sad I can't have! I've been 100% on plan!

Feel like stuffing my face with my favourite cakes but instead have had a bowl of raspberries with mini meringues, 3.5 syns. Fed up.

Akire · 25/01/2016 15:23

Glad not just me! Keep telling self in eating much more healthy so got to be doing me some good. Low fat high fibre lots fruit n veg just annoying that body isn't doing what it's supposed to (yet!)

emwithme · 25/01/2016 17:07

I need to dispose of my scales. I weigh myself EVERY time I pass them - on the way in AND out of the bathroom.

In associated "news", my wee first thing this morning weighed 1 3/4 lbs. My mid-morning poo was 2 1/2 lbs (and boy did I feel better for it Grin !)

Today's food:

Brunch: Bacon, scrambled eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes. Tassimo cappuccino (2 syns)
Snack: satsumas. Lots of satsumas. Apple & Cheese (HEA)
Dinner: Cottage pie (probably 2 syns total), carrot, broccoli, runner beans.

Snack: Hifi bars (HEB)

Hi newbie here, joined last night online. Trying to get my head around it all. Last time on SW it was Red and Green. First glance and it looks different. I'm a veggie so I hope it not too different! Looking forward to starting and hopefully lose the 4 stone I've put on in the past few years.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 25/01/2016 17:29

nello welcome, well done, hello. I too felt sooooo overwhelmed during my first couple of weeks - S, P, extra easy, HEX, it is quite confusing! I soon got the hang of the jargon though. I'm online too so no consultant to.... consult, but this thread is sooooo helpful.

Can I consult you experts about portion size? I am eating SHEDLOADS, is this a bad thing? Still up to 15 syns and measuring healthy extras, but everything else I just cannot stop stuffing in my face.

nello40 · 25/01/2016 17:47

Hi BendydickCuminsnatch just about to go back online and study !!! I'm sure I'll get there

Jo246 · 25/01/2016 18:06

Hi, newbie here, been following for a while. Will be my 3rd weigh in tomorrow eeek. Week 1 I lost 4lbs and the 2nd 2.5 lbs. Hoping joining here will keep me motivated ☺️ I have about 4 stone to loose in total.

Jo246 · 25/01/2016 18:07

Lose*

emmap1991 · 25/01/2016 18:19

Hi all, I'm a fellow newbie i joined with Jo246 a few weeks ago with our 3rd way in tomorrow. I have about 2 and half stone to lose in total. I find the start of a diet the hardest when you have a long way to go. Although i have lost 3.5lbs on my first week and 2.5 last week i'm hoping this will help me get through the days when i think i will never make it to my goal Smile
