Hi, can I join you?

Started last night and have 8st 11lb to lose - eek! I am far from convinced I will make any progress as I have cocked it up so many times before, so haven't really told anyone in RL and would be nice to have somewhere to chat between sessions. The last time I managed to lose a bit it was with the help of a MN thread Smile.

My 11yo daughter is also coming with me as she is a little overweight, but mostly has got into a habit of secret/comfort eating as a result of being bullied at school a while back and we're hoping to get it under control before she goes off to secondary school in September.

Our consultant (and the whole group) seems lovely and very encouraging but I am very very nervous and skeptical tbh.

Today we've had porridge made with water (and a drizzle - probably a teaspoon - of Golden syrup as had nothing more suitable in) for breakfast. I am under strict instructions from DD to stock up on bananas ASAP!

I've had a slice of toast and half tin of beans for lunch and DD has crudites, cheese cubes, hummus and a mini roll for lunch.

Tonight we're having jacket spuds with cheese & beans and salad.

Does that sound like a reasonable start given that I need to go shopping so have had to wing it with what we have in?

Also can anyone tell me if the Greek style Muller lights count as free or not? I suspect not as I like them much more than the usual ones!

EmilyK83 · 10/02/2016 13:15

Hi Ava! Good luck!

Would advise having more speed food - they recommend a third of every meal should be speed - but appreciate that you've not got much in! Grin Be sure to weigh the cheese for your healthy A tonight...afraid I don't know how kids' SW plans work so not really sure about your dd...

My meticulous plans for today's meals have all gone out the window thanks to too much work. Still on plan though...

AvaLeStrange · 10/02/2016 13:24

Thanks - am just about to do an online shop! There will be lots more salad and fruit & veg happening.

The teen version is really mostly about going along and taking on board the principles of healthy eating more than following a strict plan.

If they want to I think it's much the same but with and extra calcium portion per day and lots of encouragement to make the most of the 15 syns Grin.

AvaLeStrange · 10/02/2016 13:26

I think my cheese will have to be my syns for the day as have already have two coffees.

I think conquering my pernicious Tassimo habit is going to be the hardest part Sad.

EmilyK83 · 10/02/2016 14:04

I'd probably syn the milk in your coffee and save the cheese for your allowance...haven't got the details with me but think the Syns for splashes of milk are a lot lower than cheesy Syns! If you can, switch to red top too - you get a whole 350ml for your allowance Grin

Charley12345 · 10/02/2016 14:41

I've got lovely syn free dinner tonight! Steaks, vegetable and sweet potato! Just doing my food plan for over weekend. I weighed myself Monday and was 13'6 so hopefully can be under 13 by Monday 15th. I know it's a long shot but I bloody want this! My goal is size 8 and 10.5stone by April 12th as is my birthday! I am currently 13'6 and size 10/12

Charley12345 · 10/02/2016 14:41

Ava please please join!!

Cleensheetsandbedding · 10/02/2016 15:42

Hi all I've just had the SW spicy meatballs from icelNd and they were lovely!

Maintained this week which im surprised at after the crap I ate and drank over the weekend Angry

I really must stop sabotaging myself fri-sun Sad

Hackedabove · 10/02/2016 17:03

So after 2.5 gain last week which I blamed on the jeans I lost 4.5 lb his week, but was back in my gym kit (try to go after gym class but sometimes go to one before)

Heading in the right direction.

I've had the Singapore noodles and chicken pasta thing from Iceland, both good.

Had overnight oats for the first time this morning, needed to use sweetner with natural yoghurt, going to try it with a vanilla muller light tomorrow. Good to save my milk for tea.

Akire · 10/02/2016 17:10

Weigh in no lose but no gain- but due on today so normal me add 2lb. Next week will be the test if have lost or not!

First month in this is longest ive ever stayed with a healthy eating plan so pleased with self as more of life style change. Lost 5lb so more of slow slog but progress.

Have fancy scales show body fat was on 40.7% Ek now on 10 s 11 lb and fat still 39.7. Long way to go before body fat % more respectable. Hoping some magic point start burning fat!

maygirl · 10/02/2016 17:56

AvaLeStrange · 10/02/2016 18:22

Fab news about the Muller Greek Yoghurts - they are so much nicer than the normal low fat ones and well worth half a sin imho. Also half price in Tesco atm!

Have just done an online shop - loads of fruit and veg and a fair stash of 'syns' as it's half term and picking will no doubt occur. Have jaffa cakes, 'pops', light babybels and hummus.

Making the tikka masala tomorrow and have got in bits for thai curry some time next week. Also doing a version of singapore noodles on Monday but will use leftover beef from Sunday roast and leave out the prawns or DD won't go near it!

AvaLeStrange · 10/02/2016 18:25

Emily I will file away that tip re the milk/cheese syns.

I love nice coffee but don't like it too strong, so I use about 1/3 mug milk blitzed in the microwave and an Americano pod. Just a splash doesn't work for me when it's proper coffee, but I may be able to reeducate my taste buds once I'm more in the swing of things. Have already gone cold turkey on sugar in tea this year.

johnsonking · 10/02/2016 18:35

hi all.

Id like to join in too. I did SW a year or so ago successfully & now need to get back into my skinny jeans after over-indulging at christmas & ever since :) I have about 10lb to lose. not loads but lots to me. im a bridesmaid the end of march & want to feel comfortable in my size 14 dress. im gonna try sticking to plan but wont be joining a class again. am so pleased to have found this site as there is so much on here. its great seeing what other people eat to keep to plan & im looking forward to trying the ready brek pancakes.

starting weight 11.13.4lb xx

AvaLeStrange · 10/02/2016 19:09

I've just measured out 25g of cheddar for my jacket spud. I need to readjust my tastebuds re coffee pronto Sad.

Cleensheetsandbedding · 10/02/2016 19:19

Hi johnsonking have you got any SW books? I've found some great sites on the Internet with SW recipes

emwithme · 10/02/2016 19:20

WI tomorrow morning. Came on yesterday so probably not going to see anything on the scales.

Does anyone else sleep really badly on the first night of their period? I toss and turn and just cannot get into a deep sleep. Saying that, I got up at 9 am, saw to the cats, sat on the settee and then it was midday so I definitely got my hours, just a bit shifted.

Meals over the next few days are going to be a bit different, because we're moving in a week and I need to empty the chest freezer to defrost it first.

Today's food:

Lunch: SW carrot & coriander soup
Snack: Iceland meatballs, apple, 3 satsumas.
Dinner: Prawns, mackerel, boiled eggs, babybels (HEA) and a giant salad.
Snack: Hifi bars (HEB)

KittyOShea · 10/02/2016 19:24

Evening all

Just home from weigh in. Another 1 and a half down- just 8 and a half to go until I hit target. However I'm going on hols on Saturday for a week so don't hold out a lot of hope for next weigh in!

Akire · 10/02/2016 19:57

FannyFanakapan · 10/02/2016 20:11

d: Beef casserole, baked spud, veg, FF greek yoghurt and honey (1)

Sn: Chocolate crispie cake (6)

loopsylala · 10/02/2016 20:23

Fuck, 28 syns today...working out syns is taking some time :(

Kim82 · 10/02/2016 20:31

I've not eaten a huge amount today as I'm really struggling with constipation (sorry for the tmi!). My stomach hurts so all I've managed to eat is:

Weetabix with banana, an apple, an orange and a packet of hula hoop pufts. I have drunk my body weight in water hoping it might help but nothing so I have just been for a walk to the chemist and bought some senokot tablets. Hopefully they will work and I'll feel better and be able to eat properly tomorrow.

Has anybody else suffered with this whilst on this plan? I feel like I shouldn't be bunged up with the amount of fruit and veg I'm eating!

EmilyK83 · 10/02/2016 20:40

I had that issue early on Kim - started drinking more water and it seemed to resolve itself...

Ava - may be worth buying reduced fat cheddar - you get 40g as a healthy extra Smile

Random dinner tonight, but it worked! Spaghetti with quark, smoked salmon, prawns, lemon juice, chilli, garlic, asparagus and capers. Plus a salad on the side! The quark made it taste nice and creamy!
