I started almost 4weeks ago and at 3weeks I had lost 7.5lb. I have 5 1/2st to lose in total post baby....19months ago

calzone · 08/02/2016 21:14

Just an interesting observation today.

A work colleague told me she was quitting SW today. There's a group of us who sit and talk SW and share recipes chit chat etc. She is quite a large lady and sabotages herself every weekend. ((Not judging just what she says))

But she must be starving.
She has a banana for breakfast and a horrible Mugshot for lunch. By 4pm she is ravenous and eats half a packet of biscuits to get her through to dinner. She then has dinner and chocolate.

Meanwhile, I have overnight oats or porridge with fruit and then lasagne and salad for lunch. Am stuffed and only need a drink at 4pm before dinner.

What I'm saying is, (WITHOUT SOUNDING SMUG) is that SW is all about choices. You can eat what she eats but it won't work. Meanwhile, I am eating loads and losing weight.

(Sorry if this sounds pithy.....really not meant to :-) )

I started in the new year, I'm doing it with DH. He has lost 9lb I've lost 11lbs.

Not going to group just using an old book and googling 'slimming world ' for meal ideas.

Using this thread is really motivating and I've got some really good tips such as calzone's cauliflower white sauce.

calzone · 08/02/2016 21:17

B.....fruit and yoghurt
Banana

L....leftover roast chicken and vegetables
Yoghurt

D....asparagus soup
Prawn and chicken spicy rice
Mullerlight
Hifi bar (3)

Snack.....HEB weetabix cake with yoghurt
Milk.....skimmed for tea

BasinHaircut · 08/02/2016 21:19

calzone thats a really good case study of how NOT to do SW!

BasinHaircut · 08/02/2016 21:19

Not your menu, your colleague!

Mel0Drama · 08/02/2016 21:25

Hiya. I am new to the thread.
I've only been with slimming world about a month..
Week 1 -8.5 lb
Week 2 ill
Week 3 -4 lb
Week 4 weigh in tomorrow. I know it will be a gain. I've just written this week off. Back on it tomorrow!

blondiep14 · 08/02/2016 21:27

Weigh in tomorrow and after celebrating DS's birthday all weekend I don't expect to lose.

I was back on plan today and even had 25 mins on the exercise bike as well so hopefully that will have helped limit the damage.

Our FB page had another good picture today. I'd be really happy with. 1/2-1lb every week.

Hi all can I join in? Smile

Started two week ago and lost 3lb was due for weigh in today but weather was so bad I couldn't get out. I are really badly this weekend as went away so think I would have gained Blush but I'm back on it today to shift this flubber for my holidays in May !

Hope your all having a good Monday evening Smile

Blink1982 · 08/02/2016 21:38

I started sw June 2014. I've lost 5st 9 but it's all come to a halt. My target in no way makes me a healthy weight, I'll still be classed as over weight, I just don't want to be classed as obese. With that in mind I hafto figure out why I'm not losing anymore.

It could be I don't go on a weekly walk, it could be having drink as my syns everyday. Who knows. I'm just losing the will right now.

calzone · 08/02/2016 21:43

I made the turkey mince cauliflower sauce lasagne tonight. Looks awesome!!

Charley12345 · 08/02/2016 21:46

Thank you all!! You've all filled me with so much hope! I had 10% fat mince today so had in total 7 syns. Got a nice 3 mile walk to work tomorrow so hopefully get a nice kickstart!

Tomorrow I have fruit smoothie for breakfast and lunch, snack on lots and lots of fruit and water and probably a jacket potato with my leftover homemade chilli (will have around 5 syns)

I'll be doing mine from home with weekly weigh ins every Monday morning. I have all the books and I am so determined for this as I have around 4 stone to lose! Good luck to us all ladies!

calzone · 08/02/2016 21:49

Blink......I plateaued for a while.

Then I went back to basics and cut out alcohol, ate only speed fruits and vegetables and lost 4lbs.....

There are so many variables in losing weight.....

Basin.....my colleague! I despair of her. We encourage her to make more dinner so she can have leftovers for lunch but she just shrugs and pulls out a mugshot! She is quite open to talk about it so no bullying or anything going on. Then she says how she ate half a box of chocolates and then said 'screw it' and ate the rest.

I did say that if she quit, she would put back on the weight she lost and be really fed up by the summer. Oh well. It's up to her.

loopsylala · 08/02/2016 22:12

I will be starting properly tomorrow. Rather nervous as I like chocolate and hate vegetables, and struggle to find time for exercise due to long work days. I'm also a really crap cook!

But I have about 4 stone to lose so I need to make this work for me somehow.

maygirl · 08/02/2016 22:16

Charlie, blended, juiced or cooked fruit has to be synned unfortunately .Its only free in its whole form.

Kim82 · 08/02/2016 22:17

I only started 5 weeks ago and my losses have been:

Week 1 - 7.5lb
Week 2 - 3.5lb
Week 3 - 0.5lb
Week 4 - 2lb
Week 5 - 1.5lb

So that's a 15lb loss in just 5 weeks which I'm so chuffed with. I have another 3 stone to lose yet but I'm a quarter of a way there already!

I'm taking inspiration from reading everybody's menus on here and it's helping me with trying new meals so I don't get bored.

maygirl · 08/02/2016 22:22

Sorry if unclear before, I meant fruit is free if raw: whole or chopped or sliced . If it's pureed, blended, juiced, cooked or dried it has a syn value.

Charley12345 · 09/02/2016 06:35

Oh right okay. I don't understand that as it's still natural form just mushed up... I understand if it's juiced but just blended? Hmm okay thank you

ChessieFL · 09/02/2016 08:13

It's because when you blend or juice fruit you eat far more of it than you would if it was whole, yet it doesn't fill you up in the same way. For example a glass of orange juice might be equivalent to 10 oranges. There's no way you could sit and eat 10 oranges in one go, so by juicing them you've massively increased your calorie intake and not filled yourself up.

BasinHaircut · 09/02/2016 08:23

Charley also, eating fruit for breakfast, lunch and snacks with nothing else will play havoc with your blood sugars and will make it harder for you to stick to the diet and lose weight.

You need to eat your healthy extras. How about weetabix with skimmed milk and banana for breakfast?

For lunch id try to stick to veg instead of fruit so how about a salad or a soup? Try to have some protein too, e.g. Lean meat, eggs.

The SW ethos is that you are able to still eat properly and lose weight. You need to be switching to low fat, low cal and possibly smaller portions but you really can eat well on this plan.

Meal-wise, this doesn't feel like a diet. No, I'm not having many treats such as Chocolate, crisps, alcohol etc but I'm looking forward to my meals and feeling satisfied by them.

Eating fruit only might give you some quick results but it's not sustainable long term.

Everyone on here will help you if you need advice on how the plan works, post as much as you need and keep asking questions if you don't get it, there is usually someone around.

Good luck and welcome to you and all of the other newcomers!

loopsylala · 09/02/2016 09:20

wheatabix with ss milk for brekkie

not sure about lunch yet, tend to just grab something - will look for fruit & yoghurts

Kim82 · 09/02/2016 09:34

Today's food is:

B - weetabix (I usually have banana with it but I've run out of fruit, I'll be going shopping later)

L - ham, peppers, tomato, mushroom and spinach omelette

D - fish, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and sprouts

Snacks - fruit, cucumber sticks, celery, cherry tomatoes

I'll save my syns for tonight. Not sure what I'll use them for yet though.

blondiep14 · 09/02/2016 10:44

Stayed the same which I'm very please with.
Aiming for a 100% week

EmilyK83 · 09/02/2016 11:27

Well done blondie!

Another 2lb off this week, despite 2 meals out! 12.5lb in 5 weeks, hoping for my stone award next week...

Today:

B - none (never on weigh in morning haha)

L - smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, asparagus and a small wholemeal roll (HexB)

D - Chinese takeaway - going to try and go for low syn options!

OrianaBanana · 09/02/2016 12:37

Thanks for congratulations and advice!

Today:

B - fruit (kiwi, melon, Apple, mandarin), decaf coffee (with HExA, which goes in tea and coffee throughout day)
L - speed salad with ff dressing and chicken drumsticks. May go out and pick up some sushi (few syns)
D - some sort of chicken curry with the roast chicken remains from yesterday, rice and speed veg

S - 2 X hifi light, banana

I'm not very pregnant yet so may leave my extra HExA and HExB unless I get peckish - I know I've put on this week. Sad Too many biscuits. Anyone know if those laughing cow mini cubes count towards a HExA?

Looking forward to getting my free food cookbook! Want to try the caulipizza Grin
