First time on the SS board.

Started SS at the beginning of Jan and just had my 6th weigh in. I need to lose about 5st. I've stuck to plan, I've kept my syns below 10. I've avoided nights out, I'm not drinking, I've written everything down. In 6wks I've lost 8lbs, averaging 1.33lbs per week

Each week in group I listen to people talk about going out for Chinese or drinks and still losing 3/4lbs I'm not losing that much and I feel like I'm working quite hard at it. I just feel a bit rubbish really, I'm sure people must think I'm gorging on chocolate or something but I'm really not. It feels like I can't go out because if I do I will actually put on weight, whereas others in my group say things like "oh lost 2.5lbs this week, I'm really pleased with that, because I was out the other night"

Anyone else like this?

I have not eaten pasta, potatoes or rice all week.
I've had my hexB bread of course and 2 bags of Pom bears and synned them.
I've managed 3 days of EESP. The other days I've eaten refried beans and plain yoghurt by mistake otherwise EESP.
I've kept under 10 Syns. Mostly at 6 Syns each day.

my weigh in is tomorrow & it's not looking like I've lost anything.
If I don't lose tomorrow, after all this and 6 miles walking a day, then that is it for me.

Parrish · 05/06/2015 09:59

Yay! 3 lbs off! Looks like no potatoes, pasta or rice is the way forward.

Frizzcat · 08/06/2015 10:26

Good for you Parrish! How far off target are you?

OP posts:
Parrish · 08/06/2015 20:46

4 stone to go. It's a big hill to climb.

Frizzcat · 08/06/2015 20:49

1lb off for me this week. I have to lose the same roughly Smile

Well done Frizzcat. I have worked out that, since I joined in November and things haven't been going so well for me on the diet, each pound of weight I have lost has cost me £10 Shock

Frizzcat · 09/06/2015 19:44

Grin how did you work that out? From the fees paid or shopping bill?

OP posts:
Parrish · 09/06/2015 22:30

Fees paid....God knows how much extra I've spent on the shopping for different stuff....

Sorry about multiple posts. Ive noticed a few of them on threads in the past week. You post and refresh page and it shows as not posted so you post again. still shows as not posted. then you come out of the site and go back in and find you have multiple posted.

Hi I'm new to slimming world, really apprehensive?? but I'm keeping an open mind I have 2 1/2 stone to lose but have set a stone target so j don't become too disillusioned ?? problem is I'm inpatient and I like to see the scales move, but I also love my food and obviously a the wrong things and lots of it?? I've set a few meal plans up for the next few days but I do like something sweet after I've eaten supper ( like cake??) any low syn ideas?? I'm not a Jewn fruit eater and this doesn't always satisfy me! Also free veg? Can I use the birds eye frozen veg? I've got so many questions and feel as if I'm stressing already! One cuppa and sweetener down but it's only 08.50 am?? food shop after work wish me luck x

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 10/06/2015 11:28

My advice is to look at red/original days. You can still find the PDF on the website if you search useful features for other plans. I do two a week and it helps with potion control for my EE days too. Similar to SP but beans pulses are a HexB not a P, potatoes and whole meal pasta are HexBs you can have up to 2 HexAs and fat free yoghurt is still free.

emmaluvseeyore · 11/06/2015 11:38

Do you mind if I join you on here?

I have been doing SW for 8 weeks now, but I am an online member rather than going to a group. I am very busy in the evenings so can't get to a group.

I started as a size 26, and have lost 5.9kg now. I was only 150g off losing the equivalent to a stone, but I put on 0.3kg last week :( It was a busy week that involved going out for dinner, a chinese takeaway and a Burger King, so it could have been worse!

Decided to knuckle down this week, really sticking to the plan, writing everything down and keeping my syns as low as possible. I also bought myself a fitbit to try and increase my exercise. I sit at my office desk all day, so I tend to move very little. So far I went on a walk for about an hour on Monday (walked to Tesco to get dinner rather than driving), and I went swimming for 50 minutes yesterday. Set a new PB in the pool (30 lengths, 12 of which were without stopping), which was great as I haven't been for a couple of weeks (time of the month followed by illness the week after). I have also decided to try and drink a lot more water, which I am hoping will reduce my headaches. Tonight I am off to a high ropes course with my Brownies (I am a leader), so hopefully that will be some good exercise for me.

I weigh myself on Monday mornings, so fingers crossed I will see a loss this week.

It has been great to read all your struggles and triumphs. It can be a little isolating doing it online, but my partner is doing it with me too. He has a lot less to lose, but so far he has lost more than me. Trying to just focus on my own "journey" though (I hate that phrase!). Sorry for the long post!

Frizzcat · 11/06/2015 12:56

No apologies needed post away.

Welcome to all the newbies and congrats on all the losses.

I have tended to avoid massive shifts in the way that I eat, hence I've done a couple of sp days or red days in the old money and it's been fine, but it's not how I eat. I've done lots of diets, the most successful being Atkins and the Rosemary Connelly health and fitness plan, the problem is that in each of those diets I have always had to deprive myself, this means I can't stick to them long term and I fail, all of which make you feel rubbish.

SW I think is a chance for me to find a way to eat that and I can live with and not feel deprived.
I've made peace with the fact I'll only 1lb - 2lbs per week, but 6mths in and I'm still here, still losing (slowly) but looking a lot better than I did.
If you're starting new, my advice is write everything down until you get used to it all.

I did SW for a while back in 2009 where I lost 1 stone, but I then lived in the US for 10 months and put 2 stones on. Since then I have just gradually got bigger and bigger.

I have been spurred on by an opportunity I have through Girlguiding next year - I have been selected to lead an international trip to a long-haul destination for 3 weeks in the summer. I need to get quite a bit of weight off so I am much fitter for that!

I like SW as it seems much easier to continue with it as a lifestyle change without feeling like you are missing out on certain foods all the time. Fingers crossed I stick with it and get the results :)

Parrish · 12/06/2015 14:41

I lost 2 lbs today. So finally I have lost one stone...7 months later! I'm still in the same size clothes though. Which is hard.

Frizzcat · 13/06/2015 18:23

Fantastic news Parrish, don't look for negatives, others can do that for you. Doesn't matter how long it's a fantastic acheivement, enjoy it Smile

Thank you Frizzcat for your wise words. Let me know how you get on.

emmaluvseeyore · 15/06/2015 10:31

So pleased - I lost 2 kg (4.4 lbs) this week! :D I was hoping for a big number as I have tried so hard this week.

I had a bit of a wobble when I weighed in this morning because my scales initially only showed a loss of 0.1 kg. I was almost in tears because that amount really didn't reflect the hard work I put in, and my partner lost 0.3 kg after eating really badly most of the week! So after about 10 minutes feeling rubbish, I decided to weigh again just in case which then showed a 1.6 kg loss, and then the 3rd and 4th attempts showed 2 kg loss. Thank goodness I tried again!!!

Really enthused now to carry on with everything. Next step is to actually get round to planning my meals for the week and do an online shop.

Frizzcat · 16/06/2015 07:01

1.5lbs off and got my 2st award Smile
