First time on the SS board.

Started SS at the beginning of Jan and just had my 6th weigh in. I need to lose about 5st. I've stuck to plan, I've kept my syns below 10. I've avoided nights out, I'm not drinking, I've written everything down. In 6wks I've lost 8lbs, averaging 1.33lbs per week

Each week in group I listen to people talk about going out for Chinese or drinks and still losing 3/4lbs I'm not losing that much and I feel like I'm working quite hard at it. I just feel a bit rubbish really, I'm sure people must think I'm gorging on chocolate or something but I'm really not. It feels like I can't go out because if I do I will actually put on weight, whereas others in my group say things like "oh lost 2.5lbs this week, I'm really pleased with that, because I was out the other night"

Anyone else like this?

Don't ask me how, but I actually weighed 3lb less than when I stopped going last time. I rejoined from my last weigh in so it means I have lost a total of 12lb so far. Really pleased with that. Only just over 4stone to go then! Hmm

MisForMumNotMaid · 08/05/2015 17:56

Fab loss. 12lb is the sort of weight when you start to know you're really on track. Your clothes must be feeling a bit baggy too. People say its a clothes size per stone (was 2 stone before i needed more because my old were elasticated or very/ too tight on day one.).

4 stone more can happen. Last May i joined and had my target set at 5st 12lb but decided to stop at 4st 11lb once I was at 25BMI with lots of stuff coming up. On Last weigh in 2lb under target so 4st 13lb. There are bits of the journey that are easier than others but now I'm generally finding low fat eating is second nature. - just have to keep an eye on the Syns. Still planning to get that last stone at some point soon.

Do you have any mini targets to break it down?

Parrish · 08/05/2015 18:28

Well I weighed in today after my week of deprivation and I lost 6 lb. but then again, I have been ill this week and not eaten a lot. I did drink a whole bottle of wine over a few days before illness struck. Had an SP day today despite being depressed about the election results. Who knows what next week will bring? I plan to eat more but less carbs.

MisForMumNotMaid · 08/05/2015 19:16

Really pleased for your loss, especially in light of last weeks dissapointment. Glad to hear your planning to eat more too. Not worth getting ill over. This is supposed to be healthy eating that makes you healthier.

Over time you'll work out what works best for you and your body. Trust the plan!

Parrish · 15/05/2015 19:31

Crapola. Put 1/2 pound on this week and did one SP day and had no Syns Monday to Friday . Ate 3 meals a day though.

MisForMumNotMaid · 15/05/2015 19:42

Don't forget last week you showed a 6lb loss on the scales after being ill so its more likely 3lb real loss last week and 2.5lb real loss this week rather than an actual gain.

Are you going to stick with the plan for another week now, eat in a similar fashion, and see what happens. It so hard to tell after such a big loss and being ill if this is a true gain or last weeks 6lb wasn't a true loss.

Are you feeling better for eating?

Parrish · 16/05/2015 08:14

Thanks for your support Maid. I'm getting quite bogged down with thinking about food but trying for another low Syn week this week. You are right in saying that 2 meals was not sustainable long term. I'm not sure I can manage any more SP days though. I have no energy!

Do you always make 1/3 of your meals veg?

MisForMumNotMaid · 16/05/2015 08:37

I try for 1/3 veg but some meals i don't. Things like pasta arribiatta some of the time i'll have with a side salad but others not bother. I went through a phase of having fruit after the meal instead of veg. It defeats the object of the veg and slowed losses.

No one meal makes the difference but i'd say I go for about 75% of lunches and evening meals with 1/3 veg. I have a few tomatos in with a bacon buttie but not 1/3 plate. Veg curry I don't have a side of veg.

I have thought about doing SP but its not for me. The plan works witout any SPing. Slow and steady wins the race.

I found mixing up my carbs/ varying food helped so some rice days, some potato, some pasta seams to give better losses. In part no doubt because those weeks its planned.

Do you think you're getting enough protein with not having much cheese/ milk or any meat? Protein can effect energy levels quite a bit.

You could add scrambled egg to your rice and a dash of soy sauce and chopped spring onions and peas to make a sort of light egg not fried rice. It would bulk it up a bit too. Pulses are good too and syn free chick pea humous is surprisingly nice as a snack or starter with veg sticks.

jerryfudd · 16/05/2015 11:52

Hi all. Last week was 4 week weigh in and I got my stone certificate! Was so chuffed. However this week have a measly 1/2 loss. No idea why as have stuck to Plan. Am trying not to get too disheartened

Parrish · 16/05/2015 22:28

Thanks maid fr your detailed answer. Glad to hear SP days are not the be all and end all.
I am missing hummus. Will look that recipe up.

Callendargirl1969 · 18/05/2015 15:26

Hi all, MisFor Thanks so much for the lovely wordy response! Lovely to see the great support going on on here! I got another 2lb off this week so got my 1 stone! Very happy and although I have a long way to go I can feel it starting to come off. My clothes don't feel baggy, but more comfortable definitely! I have to break it down into 1 stone at a time with so many to go. Next big goal is to get another stone off before my holiday in September, more if possible because I have to lose the whole 4 by next August for my wedding!
Parrish I can't do SP days either! I find them too hard. Sad I find it easier just to stick to extra easy and have 10 syns or less if possible but it's not always is it?? I have already had 3 and a half today and am obsessively eyeing up a cornetto for a treat this evening - another 9! Syn free dinner then!!

Parrish · 19/05/2015 08:24

I think this week is going to be another disaster. I went over my Syns by 3 1/2 on Saturday. Then last night, my Dh brought home a bottle of prosecco and my syns jumped to 6 1/2 over. All week though I've been keeping the Syns low. No Syns now until Friday to see if it makes any difference.

Parrish · 19/05/2015 08:26

We were celebrating his new job. And on Saturday im going to a Eurovision party....cheese and pineapple hedgehogs, Findus crispy pancakes, French bread pizza, cocktails. None of which I will eat.

Parrish · 22/05/2015 20:54

Pound on this week. What a crock of shite.

HelenaDove · 23/05/2015 00:17

Havent posted on here for a while....but maintaining well at target. Took two big bagfuls of size 22-24 clothes to Cancer Research shop.

Today i was shopping in Tesco and me and a man both reached for the same thing

Me....oh im sorry Am i in the way.

Him.....A good looking woman is never in the way . Grin

Please dont be too disheartened if you show a gain. Sometimes its just the body adjusting to a new way of eating. Thanks

Parrish · 23/05/2015 08:13

Lovely story Helena! I have 5 weeks until the schools break up and I'm gaining not losing. I would love to get into my summer clothes again.

Has anyone read the blog She Cooks She Eats. She does a lot of vlogging but she's interesting!

Frizzcat · 30/05/2015 22:53

It's been a while, had all sorts going on, all too boring and mundane to tell plus it would definitely out me.
Still trudging along with SW and losing SLOWLY Grin
I'm half a pound off my two stone award.
Hows everyone else doing?

OP posts:
Parrish · 31/05/2015 18:29

I put on 1/2 pound this week. Nightmare

Frizzcat · 31/05/2015 21:51

Do you know what it was Parrish? Or was it one of those weeks where you were perfect and in plan then, for some reason you end up bloody gaining Confused
Chin up eh?

OP posts:
Parrish · 01/06/2015 13:47

Thanks Frizz. I suppose I had the temerity to go to my friends house for a Eurovision party and drink wine. But I thought I reined it in pretty well. It seems unfair that this one day would tip me over into gaining. But ultimately SW is just a way of reducing calorie intake. It's not magic.

This week I am trying to EESP all week but have slipped up with refried beans (no SP symbol because they are pre- mashed) and some natural yoghurt on a whole bean chilli. sigh

Parrish · 01/06/2015 13:49

I am inspired by The Slimming Mama on Instagram. She posts daily pictures of she eats and how many Syns she has had and in 22 weeks has lost 5 and a 1/2 stone. 22 weeks!!!!

Needless to say she is EESP all the way every day.

Frizzcat · 01/06/2015 22:48

1.5lbs on for me this week - wasn't a bad week either, but feel fairly bloated?

I'm not on Instagram, can you tell anymore? What's she eating? How many syns is she using?

OP posts:
Parrish · 02/06/2015 19:03

Every day she has an apple & hi-Fi bar for breakfast. Every lunch she has a bowl of pickled onions, laughing cow light cheese (hexA) and ryvita (hexB). For dinner its a bit more varied & she eats prawn & veg stir frys, beef casserole with aunt Bessie's swede & carrot mash, has a lot of meat done in Bart Spice rubs. But no other carbs. None. Her snacks are chocolate: Freddos, Daim...she has about 6/7 Syns a day. No alcohol.

She started on EE but gradually moved onto EESP.
Her secret, she says, is to weigh her main meal to get 50% protein & 50% carbs. And of course she documents everything she eats.
She is amazing and her results speak for themselves.

Theslimmingmama.co.uk is her website.

I think she will hit target in July and I think I will miss her!

Parrish · 03/06/2015 13:31

Omg she lost 4.5lb this week! What a woman!
