First time on the SS board.

Started SS at the beginning of Jan and just had my 6th weigh in. I need to lose about 5st. I've stuck to plan, I've kept my syns below 10. I've avoided nights out, I'm not drinking, I've written everything down. In 6wks I've lost 8lbs, averaging 1.33lbs per week

Each week in group I listen to people talk about going out for Chinese or drinks and still losing 3/4lbs I'm not losing that much and I feel like I'm working quite hard at it. I just feel a bit rubbish really, I'm sure people must think I'm gorging on chocolate or something but I'm really not. It feels like I can't go out because if I do I will actually put on weight, whereas others in my group say things like "oh lost 2.5lbs this week, I'm really pleased with that, because I was out the other night"

Anyone else like this?

Hi jerry welcome to the threadSmile

Sorry it's taken so long for someone to post, the dc are off school and everyone is home and looking to be entertained so funding time to post has been hard. First, stop panicking, yes you have 5stone to lose but you've made a start, slow and steady wins the race. No, you're not going to be size 8 by the summer but you are going to be slimmer and healthier than you are now. You will feel great this summer because you know you are taking control and the weight is moving in the right direction. This is the year where you're learning how to eat well and look after yourself, which I woulfnt imagine had happened much in the last 21mths for you. I'm sure you've given everything to your dc and SW is now you doing a little something for you.

I also have 5st to lose and it's going slowly, but it's going. Three people have said I look well this week and two have asked if I've lost weightSmile Those little comments make you feel great.

My weight last week was 1lb off, I've been pretty good this week. Weigh in again tomorrow night, which if I have another loss means I can eat the small Easter egg I have Easter Wink

Hope you're all having good Easters

Congrats on your three dc btw - a sterling effort if I may say so.

Thanks for the welcome frizzcat. I've actually put the weight on over last 4 years (youngest about to turn 4) so fully expect it to take a while to shift but like you say, at least I'm now going to do something about it.

Good luck for your weigh in tomorrow

Syns system doesnt always work IMO. e.g. sainsburys beef ravioli is syn free but ..............TWENTY grams of sugar per can.. I think this is part of the problem with this diet So called syn free stuff is loaded with sugar...Muller Lights being another case in point.

Midori1999 · 10/04/2015 00:26

I don't think Mullerlights do have sugar in them HelenaDove? Although that's shocking about the ravioli, but I suppose it's due to the energy density. Eg. It's fairly filling compared to how many calories and how much fat/sugar are in it and you wouldn't tend to binge on it like you might do with say, chocolate or sweets.

I think like at any time, it's still up to the individual to make good choices regarding food whilst following SW. I tend to avoid Mullerlights or heavily processed food where possible, but convenience foods being allowed is handy if you haven't been organised or are short on time.

I began SW on 5th Jan 2015 and so far I've slowly lost 1st 6.5lbs.

I was at my dc swimming lesson this evening and one of the children pointed at me (I was standing next to his mum) and said "look mum that woman has a fat belly like you". It was in front of other people too.

I of course laughed, we all know the drill. But inside I was fucking fuming and also pissed off that his mother laughed saying he's so terrible, he just blurts this stuff out. She didn't tell him it was rude. So bloody annoyedAngry

Could I say hello? I'm struggling with SW. I'be been going since nov 2014 & have only lost 1/2 stone. I have another 4 1/2 to go. I don't eat meat and love carbs. Maybe that's my problem. I don't tend to eat a lump of protein with veg so find the whole "1/3 of plate filled with veg" advice confusing. I eat veg chilli, veg pasta sauce, veg curry and SW chips! Lots of carbs. I am finding it slow too.

My friend has stopped going so it would be good to have a bit of support. My new group's members are not at all welcoming and I am tending to flit about a bit trying to find a group that suits. How do you all feel about your groups?

Following because I'm just starting, doing this as a family to help our daughter & interesting to hear what does & doesn't work. What I'm taking from it is that unlimited pasta & potatoes doesn't work unless you always have 1/3 plate of veg which I think I'll struggle to get dd to eat... Staying positive though!

Ladies can I join you all on this journey? I joined SW on Tuesday evening after managing to gain almost 3st in a little over a year. I've spent the last 7 years sliding up and down the scales and decided enough is really enough. Crossing all fingers and toes that this attempt will be my final effort to seal the deal on a happier, healthier me.

Frizzcat his mum should have said something to him He will take that attitude to school and could end up saying it to another child there because he will think its ok and he will think its funny because his mum laughed.

Congratulations jerry that's a lot of weight.

I know HelenaDove, but these days I think overweight = fair game. Actually it's always been fair game hasn't it. But thanks Flowers
Another 1.5lbs off this week, total loss 1stone 9lbs. I'm going to try a couple of SP days to see if I can an extra pound off next week.

Hope you're all doing well Smile

Week 1 done and 5lb down Grin Exactly the kind of start I was aiming for.

Does anyone else attend a class? I'm really happy with the plan but a little unsure of the leader and her style of or shall I say lack of presentation. She seems to spend the hour going around the room announcing each persons loss/gain and asking how/why it happened and what they will aim for next week. There doesnt seem to be a weekly topic or discussion. I'm not so sure how comfortable I am with having to explain myself to a room full of strangers every week whither I am pleased or disheartened. Just wondering if this is a SW tactic or just this particular leaders way.

How is everyone else getting on?

Another half pound off to go with the 2 pounds off last time. After class i went to f and f at tesco and bought a skinny belt. The shop assistant helped me find them because theyve changed stuff around to accomodate the summer stuff. They have these belts in small medium and large. I tried on the medium first. It fitted fine with a bit of give. Shop assistant said "Why dont you try the Small I reckon it will fit you." I didnt think it would but i tried and it DID. I couldnt believe it And this was over a buttoned up denim jacket. I ended up buying the medium though because i want a slightly looser fit as the weather warms up. I havent worn a proper belt since 1989. And i know F and F do come up small by complaints ive seen on twitter from mums with teenage daughters. I guess what im saying is if it is slow to show on the scales it may show in other ways.

As a naturally slow loser this would piss me off tbh.

Idont... All groups go round individual members and discuss losses and gains, but they shouldn't say what anyone's gain was and my consultant usually just says 'did you have a good week?' And then it's up to the individual member if they want to talk about it or say how much they gained etc. I quite like this as I'm ok at talking, but I wouldn't do it off my own back. So, when I went to WW they wouldn't talk about it and if I had had a good loss I wanted to shout about it but didn't feel I could without being asked. Then again, my group is really friendly and everyone is hugely supportive and I think they kind of draw you in as a friend who started hated having to talk at first and used to try and skulk out, but she's fine with it now.

Idont I'm wondering whether you go to my group.
I'm not sure about my leader and I get the feeling she's not keen on me. However I've met some lovely people and we cheer each other on. The leader announces all gains and losses, a lady came this week and she's missed a few weeks due to family illness, all been quite stressful for her... Anyway naturally she'd gained a little and tbh an alien could see this lady was in the edge, so leader announces her gain and how she was going through a stressful time and how could we help, well the poor woman burst into tears.Hmm
