Really sticking to diet but it's so slow, bloody annoyed

First time on the SS board.

Started SS at the beginning of Jan and just had my 6th weigh in. I need to lose about 5st. I've stuck to plan, I've kept my syns below 10. I've avoided nights out, I'm not drinking, I've written everything down. In 6wks I've lost 8lbs, averaging 1.33lbs per week

Each week in group I listen to people talk about going out for Chinese or drinks and still losing 3/4lbs I'm not losing that much and I feel like I'm working quite hard at it. I just feel a bit rubbish really, I'm sure people must think I'm gorging on chocolate or something but I'm really not. It feels like I can't go out because if I do I will actually put on weight, whereas others in my group say things like "oh lost 2.5lbs this week, I'm really pleased with that, because I was out the other night"

Anyone else like this?

Helena. I'm slow but steady tho hopefully will lose something tomorrow .......

The pill can gain weight. What are you eating today?

I was only on the mini pill for 4 months out of the last 18. So i know it isnt that that has caused the slow loss.

Ive been doing sw for most of the last 13 years so constant dieting has very likely affected my metabolism.

The soya milk goes lumpy in coffee & tea, it tastes like ideal milk. I think its not got proper fat.
I use 1% fat milk as you get 300mls,its the orange one.

Hi - thanks for the invite. I started SW on Tuesday after a GP referral, have 4 stone to lose but circumstances mean it's not a walk in the park. So to speak.

I bought kale to cook with a lamb hotpot - what's the best and tastiest way to cook it?

Grin

welcome sootballs we are a small group here but kinda nice then get to know and encourage each other

im just getting back into sw, veeeeeeeeery slowly, meant to start in jan but obv didnt Blush

lost 2 stone on it a few years ago, but i am a tortoise, so we shall walk slowly together Grin

kale, steam or boil it for a few mins

Frizzcat · 20/03/2015 19:48

If the lamb hotpot is juicy put a load of kale in and let it cook with the hotpot.
You don't have to worry about it then, you're not faced with a plate of green at dishing up time, and you don't lose any goodness because the kale juices become part of the hotpot. Job done

brains fizz that would make more sense

i often add frozen cubed spinach to my stuff for that reason

just made (well 7hrs ago) campfire stew, omfg, was amazing never made before, but the flavours were fab and tbh a cheap easy meal to make, tho not quick, but if you put in slow cooker in morning, be done for evening :)

was wow, and even dp ate/liked it, another sw success

has stuffed me, which is good a just about to go to work, and i tend to nibble when i work nights, so hopefully i wont tonight

Looks good Blonde I'd have to find an alternative to the baked beans and the potatoes as I hate both

Think it's the beans that give it the rich tomato flavour - guess could try with tinned toms so be more like a casserole ?

Could have with pasta or rice. I'm going to have a portion today with rice / was scrummy!!!

Or could even have in a sandwich?

Is that a SW recipe? The campfire stew?

Kale was cooked in stew then carefully picked out by DH and dd1 although dd2 ate it all as did I.

I'm about to make the Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall Butternut squash and chickpea stew. It's very tasty when made correctly!

yes, think off the top of my head

gammon joint with all fat cut off
2 tins baked beans
red and yellow pepper and onion all chopped
6tbsp tom puree
teaspoon garlic and chilli/paprika

bung all together in slow cooker and cook high 7hrs and low 12hrs

doesnt look like much then at end thickens and omfg so full of flavour and free :)

could porb add more veg like carrots/peas/sweetcorn/spinach to it

Just wondering if I can join. After a really bad fortnight I'm back on track and hoping to do some damage limitation befire WI on Wednesday. I gained 2 last week and I'm expecting another 4-5 this week Sad

I've lost 55lb so far so I really don't want to fall off now.

I've batch cooked loads of lunches for this week. Leek and potato soup, sw quiche and spanish rice.

Hello!

I might join in if that's okay? I joined a local group on Saturday and have about 2 stone to lose until my target weight (which still isn't exactly skinny, but puts me back in a 'healthy' BMI). I've never really done a diet / 'plan' before, but needs must. My main problem is that I don't really like vegetables that much and suddenly I need to make them at least a third of my meals (although I suppose that's exactly the point!).

Anyway, I thought it would be nice to join in a chat here and hopefully pick up some tips / moral support - I hope you don't mind? :)

I've got a weigh in tonight - I was fairly good until the weekend. Dh and I went out on Saturday and 4 G&T's (slimline) was had.
Period arrived and I feel so trained and picked at some sweets looking for energy today. This will undo all the hard work I'd imagine. I'll let you knowConfused
Flour. I'm not a huge veggie fan, I don't eat potatoes or root veg. You need a blender. Chuck loads of veg into a pot with free passata sauce, Cook slowly until soft and soggy, then blitz in blender and you have pasta sauce. Then freeze it as you'll have a lot of it. I keep old jars and store IT in those.
I usually do the following:
Spinach
Onion
Carrots
Leeks
Courgettes
Peppers
Peas
Garlic x3
Salt/pepper
Basil
Chilli flakes if you want a kick

Look at the slimming world katsu curry, that sauce is blended and is really good.

I was saying last night at my meeting that I feel like I need a top up meeting by the time I get to Friday. Like a reminder of where I want to be, why I'm doing this and just a bit of a kick of motivation. What do you lot do?
Bought my first SW magazine last night. Some nice recipes
Hope you're all doing well and good luck with the weigh in's.

Blondes is it cheaper to have it delivered compared to the meeting cost?

Report
Blondeshavemorefun · 24/03/2015 20:45

I don't go to meetings. Refuse to pay £5 a week for someone to weigh me Tho know you get meetings info etc plus I work as hoc hours bathes from days nights evenings etc so wouldn't always manage same time meetings and we all know weight goes up and down so would never be a true wi

Hence why I do it at home on a Friday

Think I pay £18 for years subscription
