First time on the SS board.

Started SS at the beginning of Jan and just had my 6th weigh in. I need to lose about 5st. I've stuck to plan, I've kept my syns below 10. I've avoided nights out, I'm not drinking, I've written everything down. In 6wks I've lost 8lbs, averaging 1.33lbs per week

Each week in group I listen to people talk about going out for Chinese or drinks and still losing 3/4lbs I'm not losing that much and I feel like I'm working quite hard at it. I just feel a bit rubbish really, I'm sure people must think I'm gorging on chocolate or something but I'm really not. It feels like I can't go out because if I do I will actually put on weight, whereas others in my group say things like "oh lost 2.5lbs this week, I'm really pleased with that, because I was out the other night"

Anyone else like this?

So sorry, I didn't know this thread was still on the go Blush

I didn't go to my meeting last week having booked the week off for dd's birthday. After my 3lbs loss I put in 1/2lb because I seemed to be eating more carbs - I also got a "well done for staying" even though SW says carbs are unlimited. Also if I hear the words "you don't have to miss out it's about making the right choices" somebody is getting rugby tackled to the ground Grin

I'm dreading this meeting tonight dd was actually really poorly and I feel I haven't moved a lot and I'd be a big chunky liar if I denied having a bit of her cake. Plus this is the week or at least few days before the start of my period, if I've lost weight it will only be an indication of the fact that the scales are broken!

Don't hold me back people, I'm going in

We've broken scales at group tooGrin.
Don't dread your meeting even though some comments are patronising bollocks.
You appear to be similar to me, eat endless carbs!!! Yeah right. And turn into a bloated thing with a 3lb gain.
Ive given up pasta in place of wine & sensation crisps, I know my body doesn't tolerant both!!! The weekends wouldn't be the same without them.
Good luck and well done for facing group tonight.Grin

Grin I might tell my consultant that I'm doing this just do I can watch her head fall off.
Or actually the girl who frantically shook her head when I said I had cut my carbs. Then enlightened us that the only way she loses weight is by eating big meals and using all 15syns per day! But actually I think I'm just bitter that she loses more than me.

Blonde you need salt and sugar - I'd recommend grapes/apples and babybel light - you can have 3 of them as a HE A choice.
It's not chocolate or any of the good stuff, but it does take the edge off and doesn't require a vast amount of effort.

a dripping tap soon fills a bucket - that wee quote honestly really really helped me. a pound a week equates to almost 4 stone off in a year...

Report
HelenaDove · 16/03/2015 19:34

Its taken me 18 months to lose 3 and a half stone. As ive now cut out another carb im toying with the idea of leaving and getting weighed by the weight management nurse at the docs instead.

The first time i lost 10 stone eating loads of carbs so i think being older and the different contraceptions ive taken over the years MUST have something to do with it.

Ive tried having more syns Ive tried having less Ive tried eating more carbs Ive tried eating less. Ive tried excersising Ive tried not excersising. And no difference to the speed of weight loss at all AND gains when i eat more carbs. Now have no potatos either.

Already had no pasta or bread or noodles. and ive never eaten rice.

I'm back and I've stayed the same.

I didn't put any on so I'm still having my post weigh in treat and given I have PMT I'm having a diary milk.

That diary milk woke me up at 3am in the form of heartburn - the sneaky bastard.
Right I'm the zone ..... Where is the zone Hmm
Blonde nothing wrong with that diet but I'd imagine you and your body are bored with jacket potatoes. Change your dinner try the SW veggie chilli, easy to make, cheap loads of it so it lasts. Sometimes changing something small can just wake your body up and trick it into thinking it's getting something extra. Have some rice with it just a little. I'm sure I read somewhere that red chillis aid weight loss - being that they're very present in SW recipes there might be something in that?

Well i cut down on the potatos and like i said have stopped the mini pill. And have lost 2 and a half pounds but that loss is for a fortnight not a week. Some of us are slow losers and IMO we are not going to change what our bodies do no matter what we do. My consultant has now set this as my target weight and is going to adjust it for me IF i lose any more. As i needed the pressure to be off and i was seriously considering sticking my fingers down my throat as ive tried everything else.

Well done to all. And i think slow losers who just keep on going seem to have a lot more determination than those who lose quickly because we have to look harder for a reason to keep going.
